Greetings, survivor! So, you want to buy a progressive skin from the Black Market event! Here's some useful info for you to consider before making any purchases!

  • If you spend 1200 G-Coin and level the Black Market pass to 30, you will not be able to purchase a prog skin in the shop.
  • If you spend 3800 G-Coin and level the pass to 30, you will still not be able to purchase a single prog skin.

A prog skin costs 2000 Tokens. Regular survivor pass gives you 1600. Advanced will give you 1800 Tokens.

Finishing a survivor pass that you pay for is no longer enough to get a reward.
You are forced to spend around $100 in total to get 1 of the 4 progressive skins in offer, regardless if you pay $12 or $38 for the (regular or advanced) pass AND level them fully.

The alternative would be to level the pass to lvl 70 (every level beyond lvl 30 will net you 10 Tokens) if you spend $12 dollars on the normal one, in order to get enough tokens to buy 1 skin.
If you buy the advanced ($38) pass, then you "only" need to level your pass to 50.
Keep in mind that the pass will be live for 30 days only.

And if you fail to level the pass in 30 days AND pay to get extra tokens, the entire system / event disappears leaving you without any reward.

Now, here is some math for the Chroma skin recolors of the progressive skins in the workshop store:

  • A single Chroma skin is 4500 Tokens
  • Advanced pass is $38 and grants you 1800 Tokens WHEN you reach lvl 30 and complete all achievement missions
  • You've bought the advanced pass and reached lvl 30, you now need 2700 Tokens to afford 1 Chroma skin
  • For that you need to spend 42500 G-Coin, which is $382
  • All this together amounts to a lovely $420

IF you, for some reason, do not use the 1800 Tokens from buying the advanced pass and finishing leveling it, you can outright buy a Chroma skin for 4500 Tokens by spending 71250 G-Coin, which will cost you $638.

To equip a Chroma skin you must own the respective progressive skin.

Here is a comparisson between some of the progressive skins as well as their Chroma skin versions:

Progressive Buzzkill SLR (Default)

Ultimate Chroma Buzzkill SLR ($638)

-

Progressive Gear Head Beryl (Default)

Chroma Gear Head Beryl ($638)

Quite an upgrade, these Ultimate Chroma skins, right?

But wait, theres more.

These are base lvl 1 skins. You know that you can upgrade your progressive skins to lvl 10, right? That'll cost you some great RNG luck and about $1500 more to do.

Good luck, survivor!

I wasn't going to get the pass cause I don't care about the progressive skins, then I saw I can get the Battlestat Cataclysmic Magma M416 which is the one I never got that I REALLY wanted back when it was in the crates. It's cheap too, 500 tokens, only need to buy the base pass and get to level 10. A normal gun skin from the store is usually 990 g-coin so I don't see that as a bad deal and I get the chance to get extra stuff too if I happen to get lucky.

Yep, its a good deal if you aim to get a non prog weapon skin. You can get 3 of them!

lmao that beryl skin is $400+? it looks like some piece of shit battle scarred thing you would get after a game in csgo. wouldnt even use that if they gave it to me for free

I'd rather use the rugged orange skins myself, personally!

Do any of these things make the weapon more effective? or add anything that could be considered advantaged vs a vanilla weapon?

Not in anyway! You're good with just using a default / another skin.

Glad this is something you're willing to speak up about now!.

Well all this information is in front of you. You just need to do the math yourself. It's complicated on purpose because there's multiple currency conversions between your $ and the item you are after.

However, this is the first pass in the last 6 years which doesn't reward you with an item at the end.

All other passes, whether it be crafter or regular, have rewarded you with one main item/skin. In the mclaren one you got a mclaren. In the aston martin one you got an aston martin. In the 4 guardian one you got a progressive sks skin. And here..well, not only is the pass more expensive, but not even the 4x more expensive version of the pass gets you ANYTHING from the main event. This is a new level of greed.

Nothing holds them back from repeating what they did with 4 guardians where people were showered with loot everytime they made a purchase. That event allowed a regular Bob and John to get their hands on multiple progressive skins and there were 1 time purchaseable "step up" bundles, all worth more than what they were being sold for, in the in game item value at least. That was the most consumer friendly and the most profitable pass they ever made.

What prompted them to do THIS and go the exact opposite direction, I have no clue and I feel depressed about it. Actually physically bad. I love the game and I think many others do and they do want to spend money to support it. But this is not the way. This is a spit in the face.

1 voucher = 10 contraband coupons.
