(Disclaimer: This is based on datamined info – the changes weren't mentioned in the patch notes, and therefore it's possible they weren't supposed to make it into the patch. But then again, there have been plenty of small changes in the past that went unacknowledged in the patch notes. I've marked this post as a spoiler to be safe, but these changes should be visible in-game on the Test Server.)

In 16.1, DMR spawns have been increased considerably on all maps except Taego, especially on Vikendi and Karakin (outside of sealed areas). Handgun spawns have been decreased equivalently to compensate, so these spawns aren't eating into any other type of item.

Below are the numbers for the relative increases to DMR spawns in each map's 'normal-tier' loot spawn pool. The increases in each map's higher-tier loot pools are generally much smaller (with the exception of Vikendi), and the increases in shack-tier loot pools are much larger (though still not enough for them to be common).

  • Erangel: +66%
  • Miramar: +69%
  • Sanhok: +20%
  • Vikendi: +123% (+129% to high-tier, +331% to cave)
  • Karakin: +314%
  • Paramo: +28%
  • Haven: +26%

This is a particularly huge change for Vikendi, where DMRs are now slightly more common than SRs (right when it's being rotated out, too). It's also significant for Karakin, with there now being an average of one DMR for roughly every 10 to 15 normal-sized buildings (now up to being around half as common in normal buildings as in sealed areas).
