I've been following the development of this game for a lot of years now, eagerly waiting for the final release. Now that 1.0 is (hopefully) a few months away, I'm worried about the abundance of all these "huge" operations (port, farm, hotel, etc).
When I think of a Swat game, I think of small, mundane missions, with the bigger ones later down the road to spice things up a little. However, it seems like this time the devs are doing the opposite: huge cinematic operations first, small normal missions later.
I personally completely hate big maps. I don't enjoy clearing 50 rooms and spending 45 minutes or more in a game. I remember the first Swat 4 mission, the Food Wall Restaurant. It was a small location with just a few suspects, but it was amazing. Tense, cinematic and fun. I replayed this mission hundreds of times. Now, when I compare this small map to a RoN's small maps like Sullivan's Slope, it seems like they got rid of the "mundane" aspect of the job (yes, I know Los Sueños isn't mundane, it doesn't matter).
The lack of small operations is worrying to me. I expected to be able to open the game, select a tiny map, clear it in 15 minutes and go on with my life. But it seems like the priority is on big maps that have a lot of shootouts, dead suspects and that can take 40 minutes.
I really hope that the devs show some love to this side of the gameplay. If I wanted to play a huge map, I would play Insurgency.
