I know I'm late to the party but after my first time playing 1.2 (with CE admittedly) the utility system (especially the jump pack) is the single best thing to happen to the combat system.

It made a stale defensive system into a mobile one, for the first time in forever I'm not using a chokepoint but am feeling like playing agressively makes more sense. Jumping someone with locust armor in front of my line to set up a beachhead with a broadshield? Done. Flanking the enemies? Jump them either side of them and go to town. Quick change of cover? Done again. Needing to rescue some downed pawn? Pop a smokebelt when you want to. Not to mention the grenade belts introduced in Vanilla Expanded, which also utilize the system, making another great addition.

The whole system makes combat just so much more flexible and engaging while also feeling incredibly intuitive (in a way that psycasts didn't for me).

The whole update was just masterfully executed, ranging from the new quests to permits to the new psycasts to the persona weapon overhaul and the overhaul to Honor making Royality worth every penny now.

Thanks! Reception for 1.2 has been really great overall. We had the time and manpower and feedback to gather, analyze, integrate, design, and implement stuff that would be super high impact. It's easier to make good progress in a rich-feedback environment.

Anyway, I shared your thoughts with the team.

(PS - if anyone's willing it'd be great if anyone who wants dropped a Royalty review on the Steam page. Almost nobody reviews DLCs so it almost looks lonely over there. Either way thanks.)
