I've always appreciated the continued development Tynan put into Rimworld over the years. Since I started playing over 4 years ago it feels like the game has changed so much it might already be it's own sequel, but this latest patch in particular has blown me away with how many of my issues it fixed.
Jump Packs have got to be the best thing since sliced bread. Whether it's commandos on a special mission to destroy mortar or bullet shields, a hunter that became the hunted or colonists getting surprised by raids, jump packs are getting my boys and girls out of trouble on a regular basis.
I absolutely love the new Permit system, too. The shuttle is cutting my caravan travel time in half and the laborers are a life saver after tough raids when everyone is breaking down because of all the bodies.
The changes to Psionics are fantastic, too. The original system in Royalty felt quite restrictive when it came to powers and linked weapons. Now I can pray to the Anime Tree, not just as an alternative, but as an addition to the nobles. The new utlility powers are amazing as well, "Word of Inspiration" just helped Nihlus create a Legendary Prestige Cataphract armor and "Word of Stop Burning my Base to the Ground" is actually making me recruit Pyromaniac or Volatile pawns for the first time in years. Waterskip has saved lives as well but I don't remember if that was pre 1.2 or not. I have yet to use Neuroquake but I'm already looking forward to it!
The new refugee quest feels like a great addition as well. It worked out so that the first time people showed up, it was touch and go for all of us but in the end everyone left alive and happy and later on they sent me an arcotec arm that replaced one that was lost in defence of the visitors. :O And one of them even joined our colony.
Anyway, that's enough of me gushing about this patch. Would you agree that it's an especially good one or do you remember an older patch that you liked better?
