All credit goes to Shila for bringing this up in a tweet and providing screenshots (on the bottom of this post or in the linked tweet). I did not experience this myself, so i can't answer any more questions regarding this.

Making this post to get this issue / bug more out there and hopefully get Psyonix' attention so that it'll get fixed as soon as possible. Stuff like this should not be a thing.

Basically if you're way higher ranked than Bronze you party up with a Bronze acc (screenshots show this in 2v2, don't know if this would work with 2 Bronze players in 3v3) and queue ranked, needless to say that this "Bronze" player is a smurf account.

Since the matchmaking system looks at the highest rated player in your party to determine who to match you up with, you'll not be matched up against lower ranked players; you'll be matched against players that are roughly the same rank as you.

Once you're in the lobby, disconnect from it in some way; you'll be removed from the party by doing that aswell. Now there's only the Bronze player left on one team and once you join back in it looks like it's still considered as a Bronze team, since you're not in a party with that Bronze player anymore.

So if you lose, you lose close to 0 MMR (depending on what your rank/ -difference is) and your opponents also gain this close-to-0 amount of MMR. I don't know if you get a sh*tton of MMR if you win, but it's very likely that you'll get a massive amount if the game actually thinks that a solo queue'ing Bronze got placed into a way higher ranked lobby and actually won.

This REALLY shouldn't be a thing for obvious reasons.
