Sent this DM on Veterans Day to one of the moderators, and they said it'd be great to share sooo:

"I've been in for about 3 years now and I had to say something since it's veterans day. I remember in my first year being away from family for about 11 months. I took a detour from my college plan to join the military, but like anyone here who's been through it they can agree it sucks being away for that long.

Rocket League gave me a way to connect with my friends back home and most importantly my brother. I spent most of my nights and weekends playing RL with him since that's all my laptop at the time could handle (not mad though haha). Not only that but I met multiple soldiers who enjoyed the game, and it gave us something to bond over.

Thank you guys for keeping the game going and for all you guys do in the background. It helps out people in more ways than most may think. Keep up the good work!"

First off, thank you for your service!

I had a really similar experience having served in the US Army. I played a ton of Halo online with my younger brother to keep in touch, and got a lot of my battle buddies into the game when we went overseas as a way to pass the time, many of whom I still talk to 10+ years later. Games can be a great way to bring people together, and this is what ultimately led me to seeking a career in game development after my time in the service. It warms my heart to hear that our team's work has had such a positive impact on the life of another veteran. Thanks for sharing your story! <3
