First off, as a disclaimer, I have my fair share of being toxic, including two chat bans, which were warranted. My bans came from some salt of being demoed all game long and ending up winning and I said something worthy of a ban. I realized I was wrong, served my ban, and grew from it. THAT IS THE POINT OF THE BAN
We all got that message from Psyonix the next time we booted up the game, and if you're not a bigot that skipped it when you saw the BLM portion you read the whole message.
I read the whole message and realized that I myself fall into a portion of what they were referring to and saw it as a, "i need to work on being less toxic, as the community and game are going in a direction of a more wholesome community" AS THEY SHOULD
These people that are posting I jUsT gOt BaNnEd but im not toxic for x y and z and i shouldn't have been banned. Well I hate to break it to you, but obviously you did something to be worth the ban, so why not take it as an adult and try and use it as a learning experience.
Now we would all be lying if we said "I've never been toxic" Every player at one point or another has hit the iconic "What a Save! x4 Chat Disabled"
From what psyonix devin has said they don't ban for quick chats.
I would be lying if i said i've never had fun being a little toxic, whether it's with a disrespectful kickoff (you'll know one if you see it), quick chats banter, and gameplay.
What I've learned from this, is psyonix is sick of it, the community is sick of it, and as all these protests are showing (hong kong, USA, etc), the WORLD is done with this awfulness from people who just really don't care about anyone else.
Banter between players is still possible, but it can still be friendly. Quick chats, and even more so your gameplay. Everyone at one point as seen someone get roasted and thought, "that was dirty," but in a good way!
Toxicity is one thing, but toxicity with maliciousness is what needs to go. So many players are toxic with the purpose of being an asshole to someone else and Psyonix is right. It is time for it to go.
I'm not perfect. No one is perfect. But what you do with your mistakes is what determines your personal growth. These bans aren't incorrect and they're not overbearing. They are a wake up call.
Whether or not you can see the difference is up to you. I've noticed. Thank you Psyonix.
TL;DR too many people aren't understanding the purpose of the new ban system. I'm not perfect, nobody is. The original message and bans should serve as a wake-up call to players.
