[2021] PS4, current update & current PSN version... opening item shop crashes game?

Anyone else experiencing this? It’s easily replicable by me.

1) Open game, hit X a few times to go through the various screens

2) close out pop up (for nascar bundle, currently). I do this by hitting X, although every button (circle/back or triangle/close) has same affect

3) open item shop

4) as I see the wheel spin for the shop to load, game crashes. Error code CE-34879-0. Suggested action is update game or system, but both are up to date.

EDIT - happens beyond booting the game too. Played a few matches, tried to open item shop, and I get the above error code.

Ironically I actually want to spend some of my credits lol, I like the NASCAR cars. But alas... maybe Epic is looking out for my wallet in some strange turn or events :P
