I just found out the guy I met in the game with whom I have been playing doubles for the past year committed suicide. We all can get competitive about this game and be toxic to a certain extent, but when you have had a history of suicidal thoughts and you constantly hear other players telling you to kill yourself that can really influence those thoughts to turn into actions at some point.

Why? What’s there to win from saying that?

Also, why isn’t psyonix implementing a stronger punishment for doing so? That should automatically result in a lifetime ban as it literally threatens lives. This is not a “your mom” or a “ur trash” insult if you want to call it that. Its a serious matter that can -and has- ended lives.

Mental health is a serious matter that is not taken seriously in society, but games should be the place where you get away from all that, not contribute to it.

I’m aware you can just mute the chat, but you can get to meet cool people on it (like I met my friend)

I’m just pissed and devastated. The amount of kys I have seen is absolutely disgusting and if you are the type of person who says it take a good look at the type of damage to families and friends you can cause.

First off, I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. I'm glad that they had a wonderful friend like you!

Second, we rely on your reports to take care of these bad actors who are only too happy to use such a horrible phrase. We need your help to catch people like this.
