Today I was cleaning my bank and chanced upon this long forgotten book, of you haven't seen it before this is the description provided by the RS.Wiki:

"The Book of Death is a reward from Death's Store. It is a pocket slot item that grants combat stats and provides a small chance to instantly kill monsters or deal damage to bosses."

Passive Effect

"The passive has a 1/30 chance per hit to activate. When it activates, this will instantly kill the monster, or it will deal up to 5,000 damage to bosses. Making it a good for choice for monsters with HP Pools higher than 30,000 Life Points"

How do I craft it?

"The ability to craft the book can be unlocked for 500 reaper points. A cut hydrix and 4 Death notes are used to make the book. This requires level 80 Crafting."

Charges

"The book has 100,000 charges of combat, after which it degrades to a broken, unusable state. Each book activation will use 200 charges (0.2% of its total charge), resulting in a maximum of 500 activations and costing 25,109.82 coins per activation. The book can be repaired by 25% by using additional Death notes."

Propsosed Changes

Now, this is funny to me because, whilst cleaning, I though to myself: "Hmmm... What if this thing stacked with the Death Mark effect instead?". Here's a reminder of how DM works:

"Death Mark is a status that causes Necromancy abilities on the target to be executed for fatal damage if their life points drop below 20%. The life points cap is 30,000. At tier 90, each Deathdealer's Robe pieces provide a 2% Chance to apply DM (10% for a full set)."

So... I think it would be cool if The Book of Death got reworked into something that could benefit either set of armour, this is my Proposal:

Book of Death (New Passive effect)

"Adds a 1.5x Multiplier to the effects of Deathwarden and Deathdealer robes respectively".

Active Effect

"Bypass the Slayer Mobs Defenses to be able to damage them (e.g: Turoths no longer needing a Leaf Bladed weapon, Ascension Bolts or Slayer Dart Spell)".

Note: Given the cost of Hydrix and the power of an effect like this, I'd say it's pretty balanced right from the get go, because the upkeep could help the economy by adding another sink for Hydrix gems (other than Alchemical Hydrix).

Also, lorewise it would make sense if a book of this nature could bypass the mortal defenses of Monsters.

Conclusion

The idea here is to make a Pocket Slot item for Necromancy that directly competes against the Godbooks, but also offers a nice passive effect that helps either set of Necromancy Armour.

Now, all is left for me it to gather opinions from people so i better understand where this item is sitting on everyone's minds.

Thanks a lot for reading and, see you around!
