In the last, I dunno, five years how many executive producers have they cycled through? How many content developers i.e. Quest developers have come and gone? I genuinely am curious.
The question my title seeks to be answered is how can we, the players, hope for continuity with a company that might have a revolving door with its employment? One would hope the potential job candidates have some background in the game as a player, but I recognize this is unrealistic in a corporate world.
But the gnome quest line is still hanging from a cliff. The desert quest line's ending is also bit obscure in its resolve. What of The Devourer and her influence? Not to mention all the various other projects that are still shelved. What systems might be in place to prevent contradictions in lore whenever a new quest or quest line is published?
I wonder what the training process is at Jagex. Do they require them to play the game at all, or is there a manuel they read which basically gets them up to speed on the current game timeline and lore?
I guess, as a lorehound, I'm concerned about continuity and the preservation of the rich lore the game has to offer. One of my favorite aspects of the game has always been and will always be the quests. I have yet to find another MMORPG that features quests as immersive in story and play through as Runescape. I simply can not stand the "kill/gather X amount of Y" formula implemented by just about every other MMO I've played.
