Ironmen will have access to the event buffs including damage reduction and unlimited porters. This is why I believe this decision should be reverted.
-Ironman mode is meant to be a standardized game mode that is free from the influence of other players, MTX, and the odd limited-time community events. Alongside this, self-sufficiency is a heavy focus with regard to facets of Runescape that affect gameplay.
-The event is limited time only, running from May 30th to June 26th.
-The buffs included as rewards for participating in the event are extremely powerful and would marginalize many gameplay balancing elements that are a common focus of Ironman account progression, such as banking, resource management, and the level of engagement required.
Some notes on possible responses I've seen:
"But X similar event happened, so why shouldn't this one?"
-The difference is that X event has already happened and can't be changed, while this event has not taken place yet and can still be reconsidered. Making further bad decisions will not make past ones any better.
"There will be a toggle to turn off the buffs"
-It's a nice addition for individual Ironmen that simply don't want to receive the buffs, however, I believe this is still not enough. The game -mode- is meant to be played a certain way. A single player should not be able to dictate how the entire game mode is run. The way I see it: it wouldn't make sense to add the ability to trade with other players as a mere 'toggle' to this game mode, therefore it wouldn't make sense in this scenario either.
