Following the thread on Friday regarding castle wars sabotaging here I have a few potential and partial solutions for you guys to vote on and to gauge opinions on.

For starters I will outright say I will not be addressing the trim comp req in this thread. While I understand the frustrations and while it is loosely linked to the issue it is not something I want to tackle at this time. If you want to raise this issue, please raise it in another thread.

Secondly, this doesn't involve any fixes for cade sabotaging, while we have had many suggestions I don't believe any solutions have been raised that wouldn't frustrate an effective castle wars player.

Now on to the good bit:

Make world 24 Guthix portal only

While the main world, world 24 is the world that players are most likely go to to play cw for fun. Making the world guthix portal only would reduce team stacking, while not totally irradiating it I believe it would help and would lead to games which are more fun and balanced.

Decrement the take-from cooldown via multiple flag grabs per cap.

This one is a little complicated for your run of the mill cw player to understand so I'll explain this one in a little more detail. Currently if you hold the castle wars flag other players cannot use the take-from option on you to take the flag off of your for 2 minutes. This is rather long and is there to prevent other players from stealing your glory.

What was suggested and what I think will help with the issue specifically raised is this. Using take-from would lower your immunity from take-from being used on you.

Example assuming the CD is reduced by 30 seconds each time

Player A takes the flag - 2 minute cooldown
Player B uses take from on Player A - 1.5 minute cooldown
Player A uses take from on player B - 1.5 minute cooldown
Player B uses take from on Player A - 1 minute cooldown
Player A uses take from on player B - 1 minute cooldown
Player B uses take from on Player A - 30 second cooldown

This cooldown would hit a lower cap equal to the amount being reduced each time. The cooldowns would reset once the flag is capped or returned. The amount reduced is also up for debate.

The aim is for force those holding the flag to drop trade the flag rather than rely on take from and to allow those that are not stood holding it to have a better chance of taking it off of them.

That's about it for now, please do discuss the proposed solutions above and their merits/down sides in this thread and i'll also take that in to account before developing anything. This is an intricate issue and castle wars requires a delicate and measured approach when making changes of this sort so all issue raised will be deliberated on before any changes are made.
