[2023] Runescape Golden Cape Event Question

When the event ends, and I have not turned in-to the wise old man, can I still get the cape to start my 28 days later on when I am ready to use it?

There is nothing saying, "shards will disappear," "you cannot combine your cape after event timer, etc"

This question is for a game dev/mod to answer the question. I understand the probability is you cannot. But there is no clear and direct answer and we have been happily surprised before by jagex =]

I know people will still comment, "but this event x thing happened or y thing so obviously z is the outcome." But we do not know for sure, so that is why I would like a mod to answer, ty!
