374s stream today where we are going to be doing gate  of elidinis so we're going to be doing something  
378s a little different we've not done this before  where we have our lovely Jmods who have helped  
384s design this incredible new skilling boss and have  some of our Discord moderators and incredible  
390s streamers uh content creators come and join us at  the same time we are doing a little group where  
396s Mod shrike is going to be joined bygraceepants and  ImCrystal where they go through gate of elidinis  
403s and go through the skilling boss so if you'd like  to join you're more than welcome to they will be  
408s doing their own group so uh you can watch just be  the three of us it'll just be the three of them  
414s I'm afraid um yes but we're going to be doing a  little uh Q&A as much as we can so if you do have  
422s any questions um get those ready and we will let  you know when to ask them so we are not getting  
428s warted with too many um but obviously promise how  good I'm going to be at this because I'm going to  
433s be trying not to die and also uh answering chat  managing various things so we'll do our best and

493s to be starting with some art questions and art  comments today oh yes so again we are trying to  
497s do stuff a little different obviously as  you can see the incredible landscape and  
502s design of this and we have the privilege of  being joined by one of the creators of this  
510s um mod blk witch um this is amazing like I I can't  begin to tell you how incredible this is everyone  
521s I've spoken to every every player every comment  I've seen threads I've not seen one negative  
529s comment about this like this is amazing just hands  down this is amazing I'm really glad I feel the  
536s constant need to one up myself and the rest of the  art team every time I can imagine it must be so  
542s daunting to have such a Monumental task like this  because it's it's never been done before right  
548s we have uh RuneScape has never done anything like  this it's yeah it was especially um an interesting  
555s challenge for me because due to various reasons  um I created both the arena and the actual boss  
565s Elidinis which I had never done before um it  was when when her design was originally created  
571s like the concept um for her was done she looked  amazing and I immediately was like man I wish I  
576s could make her and then I was going because she's  a statue she kind offalls between character art  
583s and environment art which are two different  disciplines um so I was ready to go fight the  
590s character team to argue about why I should be  allowed to make her um but due to scheduling  
596s reasons she was just assigned to me anyway which  was great but then it immediately hit me like oh  
601s no now I need to make the boss and the whole arena  for this in time for like want to go to animation  
607s which is also quite complex so there was a lot to  do well I mean what's been your what's been your  
613s like highlight they can't hear me oh chat can't  hear you uh oh that's what chat is saying at the  
619s moment oh no this entire time sorry chat time no  um I checked and they can definitely hear her it's  
627s just like she's a bit quiet that was it oh like  she's definitely heard just a bit quiet yeah okay  
633s let me let me pull microphone closer as well can  do that yell into the microphone you can do it
639s better yell yeah I'm not I'm not going to yell  I just I don't know if this is better at all or  
650s not no I think I think it's okay I think a lot  of a a lot of chat can hear you so I think it

677s so are there any elements of this incredible  statue that players wont necessarily see at  
685s the beginning like have you seen from your uh from  your visuals of seeing how players have reacted to  
693s um this boss have you have you noticed anything  um from them that they might not have seen yet  
700s or rather what's been your highlight of creating  this statue because this is I don't I don't think  
708s there's immediately anything that they won't  have seen yet um the thing that I try to do  
712s with boss Arenas and kind of at the boss as well  is trying to keep it simple and quite clean um  
719s cuz obviously the most important part of it is  gameplay and you want the arena to be to be clear  
726s and you want to be able to see what's going on at  all times so boss Arenas aren't really the place  
732s to put like a lot of little details like Easter  eggs in in my opinion some of them could work but  
739s something like the Gate of Elidinis which is kind  of a an abstract environment set on top of the  
747s sanctum of rebirth it wasn't really the place for  that right so obviously like all the way around  
754s the entire arena is like more sanctum kit mapped  to make it look like you're on top of the big  
760s pyramid um where Sanctum of rebirth is set which  is which is quite fun like in the sky box and  
766s everything you have like the Rocks floating off as  well to to kind of give that impression but yeah  
772s I don't know I I really like doing things like  lighting and making cinematic shots and the entire  
779s Arena here is designed as basically one big Vista  everything is pointing towards the boss and it's  
785s very much designed for that to be a really great  view so that's kind of was my favorite thing was  
792s doing the the composition doing the lighting and  supporting all of that and making that look look  
797s really amazing yeah I remember for the for the  initial part of development it was going to be  
802s um a fairly standard like circular or Square arena  with the boss in the middle we thought that was a  
806s bit too close to Croesus so mod Ramen came up  with this idea of making it a wedge so it's a  
812s triangle and it's leading up towards the statue So  in theory whenever you're doing the gameplay like  
817s we want this shot with the Statue behind the moon  this is meant to be the focus so really wherever  
823s you're playing you're always going to be looking  at the boss um and I think it worked out really  
827s nicely yeah exactly I remember when we when we  first talked talked through all of the mechanics  
834s and the design and we did like a rough sketch on  like a whiteboard of what the boss was it just was  
839s a sketch of the Arena of croesus and I was like oh  no we just made croesus again we just made croesus
844s again it's like it's like crabs all  Skilling bosses return to croesus
850s eventually my favorite part of this is this  um lovely Starlight texture on the ground  
859s yes it's such a wonderful touch but I'm just  absolutely in love with it I think it's so  
863s beautiful I am incredibly pleased with that  because basically the that on the ground is  
870s not particularly a physically accurate realistic  metal but it was supposed to be like a super  
875s shiny kind of silver that perfectly reflected  the stars in the sky which our engine wasn't  
880s doing even if I made it the shinest it could  possibly be so then uh I used some tech that  
886s was made for um like the Aurora Cosmetics where  you have like a a panning kind of um stars extra  
894s going over stuff that re reacts to screen space  so if you move your camera it reacts to that  
900s I overlay that on it together with like metallic  values so it looks like the sky but it's not  
905s actually the sky so I assume most players won't  notice that it does it does look like you're  
910s it's like a reflection of of of the sky yeah it is  amazing yeah yeah I was very pleased with that um  
917s I know that um uh Graceepants and crystal I know  that you potentially had some questions as well  
924s uh you wanted to pass across I was going to ask  like what is your favorite part about the Gate of
932s Elidinis I think it has to be actually the  statue of Elidinis because it's so different  
940s from anything I've I've done before I've never  made a character that like fully animates and  
945s everything and it's I've made a boss that's  in RuneScape now it's pretty cool so that's  
950s probably my favorite part of it you should  be really proud of it you should be I am I  
957s know Grace has some questions as well she could  ask yeah definitely um so um one of the things I  
965s was wondering about um I know that the ability I  guess mine are a little more I guess development  
970s based so probably more aimed at Mod Shrike but um  I know that the ability to do this Skilling boss  
975s solo and in a group was kind of one of the most  sought-after features for a lot of players um so  
980s I was wondering how much did the scalability  factor into the design of the boss so that's  
986s an interesting one and one of the big points  of feedback we've had is that players aren't  
990s 100% happy with how group feels at the moment and  that's something we are looking into we are going  
994s to be tweaking you know how group feels I know mod  Ramen' s looking at that at the moment um we were  
999s quite upfront from the start that this is going  to be a solo focused experience Croesus was group  
1002s focused this one's solo focused because that's  what players were asking for um so that's where  
1007s we put the majority of our effort um grouping  at the moment is just flat scaling um because  
1013s it is mostly intended to be a solo experience but  you know if players aren't too happy with how it  
1017s feels right now then yeah obviously we can we're  going to be tweaking that um yeah that's really to  
1025s hear that's that's okay I have it's one of those  things with players like we asked they said oh  
1031s yeah we want a solo Skilling boss we want a solo  Skilling boss so we made a solo Skilling boss and  
1034s now everyone's going we want a group Skilling  boss and like you want yeah it's really hard to  
1040s balance because like I I don't know it's doing  content solo is great sometimes but also like  
1046s I don't know playing with your friends is also  yeah yeah yeah but like RuneScape is famously an  
1052s MMO full of cats because everyone wants to play  on their own in a multiplayer environment which  
1056s I find very funny um but yeah no it's um yeah  definitely solo first but yeah we'll be tweaking  
1065s some experience just off a few of those group  shall we try to do the Boss I absolutely love  
1076s the entire Arena we've already been showcasing  it it's so studying and Visually pleasing was  
1081s there like any inspiration behind the graphics  for this Elidinis area and like specifically  
1089s yeah um basically a lot of that was already done  for us um because we wanted similar Aesthetics  
1097s to the sanctum of rebirth but then a lot more um  astral almost a lot more nice and yeah obviously  
1106s you have the the very big moon behind behind her  so at first we also played a bit with the idea  
1112s of having water in the arena because Elidinis is  goddess of the river but we we kind of scrapped  
1118s that eventually um because it was looking a little  bit suspiciously like the arena from Elden ring
1127s from not that you and mod Ramen are obsessed with  Elden ring at the moment obsessed with Elden Ring  
1135s absolutely not but yes um and then yeah most  a lot of the work for that again was already  
1144s done but then the statue for Elidinis itself  was a bit more challenging because I don't  
1151s think Elidinis has ever been depicted in game  or if she has it's a no I don't think probably  
1156s really old bad model there's like one really old  statue from like 2008 2009 but she's never had a  
1162s proper physical representation um one really  cool thing that we did manage to do for this  
1168s update was we got proper concept art for what  she actually looks like in her human and animal  
1172s aspects which is just really cool um we've got  it up on the wall I think in here somewhere um  
1177s I don't know when we can share it but I'm really  excited to share it whenever we get round to it  
1183s yeah kind of it'll kind of depends on whether or  not we ever show that or ever show that yeah yeah  
1190s I mean from my point of view when I was doing  pre-production for this and trying to come up  
1194s with you know what are the the nouns and what are  the verbs and what are The Vibes that we're going  
1198s to put into this and then how do we develop the  mechanics from there um I was contrasting it with  
1202s croesuss and croesuss is it's a mushroom it's soil  it's disgusting it's kind of slimy and sticky and  
1210s it gets under your nails so for this one it's more  ethereal and like like mod blkwitch said it's like  
1217s astral and more abstract rather than earthy so  it's more like water and air rather than water  
1224s and Earth and mud all that kind of stuff so those  were kind of the the words you start with and then  
1229s doing ideation from from that point to start  building out the mechanics and building out the  
1233s visuals and and what's this actually going to  look and feel like I really we're coming up to  
1237s half past shall we start a run and see how we  go yes because I do have I do have some other  
1243s questions which we have so many we have so many  because we've been chatting these obviously since  
1247s since the launch on Monday so it's been a lot of  questions that we obviously want to go over but  
1253s yes let us start let us start the boss fight  before we start start how do we want to split  
1259s up the jobs I'm happy to focus on maintaining the  Moonstone barriers just because I'm also going to  
1263s be answering questions at the same time and I'm  not sure how many things I can juggle at once I  
1267s will direct some questions to mod blk witch so  if you if you have moments where you're like oh  
1273s I can answer this while I'm mining so what you  can do for for grace and crystal you can kind  
1279s of choose to go either North side or Southside  so that's what we've been calling um beyond the  
1284s barriers I tried to JMod teleport to the other  side of the barriers and obviously that doesn't  
1287s work on my normal account um this side is beyond  the protection of the Moonstar barrier so you'll  
1291s be taking Auto attacks and whenever she does her  begone attack it will you will get no protection  
1296s from that if you go behind the barriers um you are  protected from the auto attacks and you are given  
1301s protection from her projectiles um but you will  get slightly less resources will be a little bit  
1308s slower up to you which one you choose um I'll keep  the barriers up and yeah once you've got enough um  
1315s statue Pieces Just slam that extra action button  and go hit in the face and we can talk about that  
1320s mechanic in a bit actually because I think it's  my one of my favorite parts of this boss is the  
1323s slam mechanic I think it's really cool not the  face how is that sounding that sounds great I'm  
1330s excited let's go Grace and I we can just uh go  do you want to do north or south Grace I'm not  
1335s first either way if you have a preference let me  know it doesn't matter to me South is a bit more  
1341s chill because North you do get hit with mechanics  and if you get hit with the mechanics and you  
1345s don't avoid them the corruption builds up over  time so South might just be a bit easier it'll  
1350s take longer but at least it'll just be a bit  easier I'll do South then yeah you want yeah  
1355s so we can stack up as much as possible and then  once we both have a good amount we can uh jump  
1359s up at the action button together we can just go  up on the agility mechanic together yeah I was  
1365s going to be very chaotic and be like let's let's  let just chat decide what everyone's going to be  
1370s doing but I think not okay so I'm grabbing  Moonstone pieces at the moment um here we go  
1379s playing this kind of phase one phase two because  there was originally like an entire gameplay  
1384s phase in this section and it just wasn't feeling  right it's like it's so important to um whenever  
1390s we started play testing things the amount that  changed between the original design um we ended  
1395s up just completely cutting stuff and just ripping  things out that we thought would be cool initially  
1399s on paper but then when we started playing it it  was just like this is great that was going to  
1404s be one of my questions actually yeah like how  much of the concept of what you guys designed  
1409s um to how much obviously from the delivery  for the delivery of all of this was cut from  
1415s you know concept to execution like that must have  been the process of like creating something like  
1423s this must take so long like how long does it  usually take for you both to go from all these  
1428s these different types we started developments in  end of May I think it was directly after requiem  
1435s for a dragon for me um you might want to heal  Crystal um and this is I'm trying to focus on  
1445s two things at once now no yeah good I mean the  thing is what was what was great was uh oh there  
1451s we go was I remember meeting you mod black witch  in the office it was like my first time going in  
1458s and I remember the first thing I saw was you  creating the statue and I was just like what  
1464s is that it was just incredible and I started like  the beginning of May so this is for everyone else  
1470s who's like you know listening this takes you know  it takes good amount of time to create something  
1475s as incredible as this um and I know that obviously  with different departments obviously have been um  
1481s have been working on this I wrote a a very good  question which I'd like to read out properly  
1486s because I know that it's probably not going  to sound the same if I try to say it myself so  
1492s this boss is really unique and how it integrates  Skilling and combat mechanics but it wasn't just  
1498s s development process you had a whole team you had  devs artists QA all come together for like a full  
1506s day of brainstorming and prototyping which sounds  super creative but can you tell us more about the  
1511s that collaboration that shaped all of this cuz I  know that this was something that is obviously not  
1517s just yourself um who had to sort of Design This  Much like um mod uh mod black which is well like  
1523s you all had to come in as artists and and and devs  to really work together like what was that like
1529s fuel that would be [Laughter] for that  was really good well done guys make sure  
1541s hide behind the attack nice well done I'll keep  the barriers up you guys go around for a second  
1545s round sounds good it's so intense so intense we  should have put on like tension music on that  
1551s at the same time oh we can talk about the audio  in a second because we did some voice acting and  
1555s stuff with this and it was really fun but  yes my black please do take that question  
1559s okay um yeah it was so first of all um a JX we  can kind of choose if we worked from home or  
1566s in the office so we have some people who are in  the office most of the time so like Ren shrike  
1571s and I are kind of in the office a lot of the time  already but then there's a lot of other people who  
1576s work on this who weren't and one of the challenges  with that is on a project especially like a boss  
1583s fight which changes quite fast and and a lot  you want everyone to be onard with it and want  
1589s everyone to be aware of what is going on so that's  kind of why design and development had been going  
1596s a little bit slow and we were a little bit stuck  with it Sor so yeah we kind of got everyone in  
1604s for a full day of talking it through kind of  just going through like right this is the AIO  
1609s that we have and then ripping up completely apart  um kind of doing them like rough paper prototypes  
1616s and just also like lay on a whiteboard just like  laying out every single step of the fight and how  
1622s it relates to each other and just having everyone  in there me more different perspectives and also  
1630s made sure that it it became a lot clearer and  didn't become too like overly complicated as well  
1637s because yeah everyone kind of had to be on board  everyone like was was really good at questioning  
1643s all the different things and all the different  elements and it just helped as well when leaving  
1649s that everyone had a perfect idea of every single  part that was needed for yeah some some projects  
1656s you'll you'll work on and you won't have a full  idea of something that has changed and then last  
1662s minute other requests come in well this wasn't  really the case with us because everyone had a  
1667s very clear idea of this is exactly how this goes  and obviously it has changed which play test and  
1673s actually like it's different talking about it  and being like this sounds like a great idea  
1678s then actually making it is of course  and playing through it is is a lot different  
1683s than that right but but yeah it's a lot of  the elements that were discussed then are are  
1688s still there and yeah it was it was a really good  experience love that we lost Grace we lost Grace
1695s Grace that's okay we're almost there if you want  to pick up those shards you can just throw in the  
1702s face directly on the ground oh my goodness  sorry Grace we just completely missed
1709s you oh my goodness there you go yeah you can just  you can just Chuck him which I always find really  
1719s funny can can I quickly answer a question as  well that is in chat about how this is being  
1725s play tested uh for Sanctum of rebirth and this boss as  well there were at one point when it was playable  
1732s there were daily play tests which like the same  group of people playing through it every single  
1737s time to get quick and quick changes of it so I  think that was like a two hour long play test  
1743s every single day wow so yes it gets play tested  quite a lot and it was actually quite insane  
1749s seeing how fast the iterations were happening at  that point it's why having someone like Ramen on  
1754s the team is just so invaluable because he's been  making bosses for 10 years and he just gets it  
1760s right and the kind of changes he can spot and the  kind of things he can do are just so so useful um  
1768s we were in these two-hour play tests and he was  just changing things on the Fly making sure that  
1773s we were you know getting the right things making  sure it felt right and a lot of the big changes  
1777s in the end came from him um it's it's a shame he  can't make it onto the stream today because like  
1782s so much of this is him um including that jump  slam mechanic that's his his signature of ramen  
1788s magic it's his baby he has a thing he'll do  he'll do like he'll he'll say oh I thought of  
1793s an idea it probably won't work and then go dark  for two days and come back with the most insane  
1798s prototype you've ever seen it's just what he does  apparently um quick side not the the reason the  
1806s cameras wer inverting of of my my OCD which I  have to make sure everything is sort of perfect  
1813s and everyone's sort of looking the same way and  it was just bugging me that mod black witch was  
1816s looking to the left and not to the right um but  yeah I have a stream open on that side of my
1823s screen oh I suppose yeah since we have made obious  this is the second Skilling boss I know that um  
1831s Mod shrike you were you were discussing this before but  like in terms of like the challenges that came  
1836s with creating a second Skilling boss what were  the the biggest challenges that you all had that  
1842s experience while making this um I would say  it's making it distinct enough from croesus but  
1849s still feeling like a Skilling boss uh we spent  a long time figuring out was part of the right  
1853s click examine blog that we put out um what is a  Skilling boss how do we make it distinct from a  
1858s normal boss how do we make it distinct from um  Skilling as a thing because RuneScape Skilling  
1864s most of the time isn't actually that exciting  it's just click on a thing and wait so how do  
1868s we turn that into an encounter that then feels  like a boss um I'm going to go for a jump Slam  
1873s in a second jump slam here we go there we go  we should be able to I can't wait to do this  
1881s I'm so excited to do this we should be able  to get it with this one one two three four oh
1889s Y what okay I was about to say I was like  there's a 500K 500 left we're good we're  
1896s good nice one yay all done I love the  animation of how she like re oh it's so  
1905s lovely it's um there's something to say about  the animation actually because this the way she  
1911s is animated is new for a RuneScape character um  the way she's rigged and from a technical level  
1918s really want our animators to do like a little  in-depth post about it because it's really  
1921s interesting it's quite experimental um it's  very different to how other characters are  
1925s animated and I hope we can bring it into the the  rest of the game because it's much quicker it's  
1929s much more efficient it's just like a lot of real  nice technical improvements interesting I'm going  
1933s to write that down to it' be nice to get a blog  post like a behind the scenes blog post about  
1938s it because it was it super super interesting  um but yeah nice job guys uh do we want to  
1943s answer a couple more questions and then maybe  do us a second round yeah Crystal uh Grace did  
1947s you guys have any question questions yeah sounds  good there've been a couple in chat too that I I
1951s noticed uh one from Rubik uh were there any  mechanics or iteration that didn't make it to  
1960s release yes so uh part of that phase one that  I mentioned that was cut completely um there  
1967s was the whole idea of these streams of souls that  you can excuse me that you can see going into the  
1973s boss uh you would have kind of souls breaking off  from that and starting to wander around the arena  
1977s and you'd have to run around and cleanse them  and um try and fix that so the the whole idea was  
1982s that you could see the corruption progressing  throughout this environment by the number of  
1987s souls that were breaking away but it just wasn't  fun it wasn't fast enough um we initially wanted  
1992s this boss to have a kind of slow build up and  then a rapid escalation but that slow buildup  
1996s ended up being too long so we just end up going  for that 15 second phase one um and then leaping  
2002s straight into the rapid escalation instead but  yeah that all got completely ripped out um and  
2008s I think it's still in code but it's just you know  you go in there and you you disconnect the wires  
2013s and you hope for the best it's one of the things  that sounds cool on paper and then you try it and  
2019s you play through it and it's like this actually  isn't how I thought it would be in my head it's  
2024s why it's why prototyping and why play testing is  so important right absolutely absolutely that's  
2031s a really good question I'm not sure uh let me  find there was a question I wrote down from  
2038s one player and I know this is something obviously  that's that's gone behind because as as someone  
2043s who is currently going through a lot of quests  myself it is um it has gotten to a point of  
2048s frustration uh of Skilling bosses or certain  bosses being locked behind Quest so we had a  
2055s question from um Good Old Hank um he says or they  say I'm super torn uh on the concept of having a  
2063s boss left behind quests which I like also have it  having it be a Skilling boss that's not accessible  
2069s to skillers what was the thought process oh keeps  going what was the thought process behind locking  
2075s the Skilling boss behind a series of combat  requirements are there any potential plans to  
2079s change that so this Skilling boss is very heavily  involved with the story there wasn't really a way  
2085s we could release it without including all the  story context and you know it it was because  
2092s we did discuss this do we make this completely  accessible to Skilling pures players who have  
2095s chosen not to engage in combat or do we make it  more widely accessible for this particular context  
2101s and what this Skilling boss needed to do um it  wasn't appropriate there's no reason why we can't  
2105s release something different in future um yeah  that's the best answer I have really yeah fair  
2112s I mean the the vast loreof RuneScape is massive  right it's it goes back to I would to say decades  
2121s but we don't really know what the year span is  of the Runescape lore it's almost 25 years now yes  
2128s next year 25 years it's incredible insane insane  it's gonna be super exciting super exciting um  
2137s one question I know that some players have had uh  their drop rates um has been a little difficult um  
2146s when they've been trying they've been trying  uh has there been any talk or discussion yet  
2151s on what the drop rates are going to be like for  at the moment no plans to change it I mean drop  
2161s rates are pretty much analogous to any other boss  really like we've gone for a boss approach rather  
2168s than a Skilling approach so there is an element  of RNG there is an element of luck in your boss  
2173s rolls um the numbers themselves right yeah like  the the numbers themselves have been balanced  
2181s for a boss they're not egregious at the moment we  don't really have any plans to change them I mean  
2187s it's part of playing bosses in RuneScape is that  element of luck yeah and sometimes you go dry and  
2193s that's part of the game um number of times oh  was it for the king black dragon lore book the  
2198s number of like the amount of time I had to spend  at that Jesus I'm doing it tomorrow I very excited  
2204s to be doing it tomorrow and I've got gra me King  black dragon or the law book um that does have bad  
2212s luck mitigation so that your master quest Cape  doesn't get completely locked out I think it's  
2217s after 15 or 16 it's guaranteed drop so we have  put in stuff like that but for the the skilling  
2224s off hands and the uh the the latent offerings um  that's just standard boss rolls really sometimes  
2232s you'll go dry fair enough fair enough I guess  it's just one of those things that you have to  
2237s just be quite persistent with um it's part of  bossing it's part of bossing right you got to  
2242s keep doing it otherwise if it's too easy you're  just not going to you're just not going to do it  
2247s it's well you'll do it once and then that's it  the the the the amount of time and effort and  
2251s work that's gone behind creating something like  this that you will have created if someone was  
2257s to be able to complete it so quickly and be  done with it and get the rewards then people  
2262s would just forget about it and it it's difficult  I mean it's more like it's part of the identity of  
2266s RuneScape right yeah that's part of how you play  the game um in terms of like player feedback on  
2274s this have you had a chance to go through any play  feedback that you've seen um have you been able to  
2281s see any of the work that some of the players  have done on this I know there has been some  
2285s incredible artwork and my blkwitch I know that  you're probably very proud to see your incredible  
2291s statue coming to life on different versions of her  on socials what's that been like for you yeah no  
2297s that's really fun it's it's really great seeing  fanart of like a character that I've made now  
2303s that's that's a really good feeling and other  than that I I'm already on like I've I've been  
2310s finished with this project for quite a while  before it released so far that I've already  
2315s finished a whole other of project since then  so oh snap the release felt like a little bit  
2320s strange for me because I was already a little bit  detached from it but I've been trying to keep an  
2325s eye on people playing through it and there's one  small fix that I did which is the like boxes on  
2332s the the mining nodes making it that you can  no longer click between some gaps in there  
2337s that's the one f excited but other than that there  hasn't really been any issues for like environment  
2345s or what the actual Boss model as far as I have  seen yeah cool cool um oh you've started again  
2356s yay yes we've just started another round awesome  awesome I'm gonna go North Side uh Chrystal Gracie  
2362s did you did you have any other questions that  you've spoted by any Community has there been  
2367s anything that you've seen um during your streams  um that has been sort of a discussion Point uh  
2374s during Gates oh no you didn't dive I did have a  question um because I really like the idea behind  
2383s the agility mechanic was there anything that  inspired it a lot of people just thought it was  
2387s really cool it's like doing parkour or something  so I mean I can't speak for ramen and he'll be  
2394s able to answer this more um accurately but I think  it's from my impression of it it's similar to the  
2403s uh time mechanic in the car boss fight which  is another one of ramen's fights um he's very  
2410s keen on those sort of big cinematic moments um so  that's I think where the thinking of it came from  
2417s it should feel really cool it should feel like a a  hell yeah moment um which are really important in  
2424s in um boss encounters you should feel powerful you  should feel like you're doing something physically  
2429s really awesome right um and that was just how  he decides to do it in in um I don't know if he  
2435s calls them hell yeah moments or whether that's  some other one some other designer I've heard  
2438s them call that but that's basically they should  give you that feeling of yeah I've done something
2442s awesome nice yeah yeah like you'll notice whenever  you do your final jump you have the slowmo and you  
2455s also have like a little like audio drop whenever  you do it which I think is a really nice touch um  
2460s I would love to discuss the audio more if we have  time because the a is so good I'm currently having  
2465s it on because I know that I know that um there was  a bit of an interest when you said voice over work  
2470s which is really cool so yes please go into it  uh so uh we ended up we didn't have enough time  
2477s to get a voice actress in for Elidinis mod  Grace instead called myself uh mod black witch  
2485s mod dragon mod Echo and mod Nixon who's also  on audio team um and we did the voice acting  
2490s ourselves we just went down to Grace's audio booth  and just screamed into a microphone for half an  
2494s hour yeah as it was really fun you do um and it  was really really good I love how it turned out  
2500s in the end with all like the overing voices and  um it's kind of exactly what I had in mind when I  
2504s was writing the the voice acting script so yeah no  it was really awesome yeah I like how otherworldly  
2511s it feels cuz like yes it's a statue she's not  supposed to have a voice it's not the voice of  
2516s Elidinis that you hear, and that's as much as I'm going to  say about that but layering all of the voices on  
2521s top of each other like gave it a very like wrong  kind of feeling and the good way and the exact way  
2527s that we want so that's yeah that is that is one  thing to say like this is not Elidinis as a character  
2534s this is the corrupted gate that's attacking you  um lore players explore that however you will  
2540s well there we go how it here fast that's really  cool I shouldn't swear on stream sorry I'm being  
2548s oh [ __ ] hell sorry you just said that you  shouldn't swear Shrike oh my God what what oh no what  
2558s is happening ah see this is what happens I don't  think there is one mechanic that I don't think  
2564s players have noticed yet oh okay um which I  haven't seen any chatting about if you don't  
2570s do the jump slam if you choose not to there  is a soft enrage and her attacks will get more  
2577s powerful and she'll call up more Soul devours and  she'll just get a little more difficult each round  
2584s of attacks she does so it's definitely worth  doing this if you can a little reinforcements  
2591s yeah just a little bit I love that slow-mo it  looks really cool okay we're almost there so
2596s good so in terms of in terms of voice over  work and stuff on this how much was involved  
2605s was it just you guys screaming into this or or  is this is there a lot of stuff that's already  
2610s sort of preloaded and in the RuneScape law  books that just gets used because I would  
2617s love to do this I would love to be able to  go into a Sound Studio and just make some  
2621s noises for RuneScape I think that sounds oh you  just ask more grace and she'll say yes that's  
2626s all you have to do you just have to ask right  so this is going to be your challenge you're  
2630s gonna have to find out where my voices in okay  I could have gotten you as another voice for a  
2638s top it yeah there's male and female voice in it  but like we do Dev voice acting quite a lot I know  
2646s for things like the elite dungeons there's several  bosses that are voiced by uh jods mod black which  
2652s I know you voice um the chaos witch yes in and  that's just you and I find that hilarious because  
2659s you can recognize you by your accident that's so  I had I had players message me about that when it  
2667s came which was really funny just like sending  me screenshots of them defeating the boss with  
2672s just like screenshot and then the message sit so  mean but yeah all all of the bosses in the zamorak
2681s dungeon besides zamorak himself are Voice by yeah  zamorak got a a professional in yeah but things  
2688s like I know the Ambassador in Elite dungeon 3 and  Alan kath is voiced by uh mod or Mod Ryan who was  
2698s the lead designer for that project um and I think  that's really cool like the the final boss of your  
2702s big project you get to be the voice of I love that  um that's really cool where is that uh that's the  
2711s um Elite dungeon 3 which is the underwater one  he's the Ambassador should be enough yeah I'm  
2720s I'm ready to go if you guys are big jump big  jump one big jump we should get her this time
2728s how are you how are you by finding a crystal Grace  it it's it's a good boss it's very different from  
2736s Cris people ask me like which one I like  better per se but they're definitely not  
2740s comparable cuz they're very different in terms  of mechanics the way they've been made so it's  
2745s really nice and refreshing to have something  different from like everything else we've  
2749s seen so far so Props to the team you guys have  done an amazing job of course it's absolutely  
2754s beautiful as well I'm going for the 100 KC for  the Sky Box so I'm looking forward to it nice  
2760s thank you that's so cool I've been enjoying  it I'm still getting the hang of it um I get  
2764s distracted easily so I keep missing like the beon  uh as you saw before but uh um no I'm starting to  
2771s get the hang of it this has become like a hot  one's version but instead of hot sauce It's
2777s Bosses I do love that blood moon Sky Box I feel  like that was that that was something that has  
2784s survived from the very original design iteration  was we want to have the blood moon or the eclipse  
2789s of some sort it's so stunning yeah I'm so glad  that has it's it's actually quite unusual for  
2794s a design that comes up in the initial an idea  that comes up in the initial design to survive  
2798s all the way until release usually they change  beyond recognition but there were a couple of  
2803s things that actually made it through to the final  thing and that Skybox change as one of them so  
2807s yeah very about that one of the very first things  I made for the project as well is like I did the  
2812s full light setups like the blue one and the red  one before the actual Arena cuz like design the  
2817s arena wasn't done yet so I was just messing around  a b lighting I mean going off the the design and  
2823s everything that you you both have made for this  like has there been any um thoughts on what you  
2829s could potentially improve for a potential next  boss like if there is any discussions as a side  
2835s note um yes I would love to voice a masket for  next year thank you I will put my pitch in to more  
2843s grace and see if I can get it done but yes back to  you both here um yeah has there been anything in  
2849s there that you'd love to be able to do now that  you've done this like obviously there's always  
2853s going to be room for improvements can you give  us any potential hints if there is anything that  
2860s is potentially coming or that we can maybe talk  about I'm not entirely sure but obviously I can't  
2866s give any hints about what's coming up beyond what  we've announced on the right map I tried chat I
2870s tried um I think with this one we've sh shown that  we can do Skilling bosses as a kind of content and  
2879s they're now part of our roster of you know the  kind of content we make SK Skilling bosses are  
2885s now we've done two we're like okay we we can keep  going with this um me personally I think it would  
2891s be quite interesting to create a group boss that  is a combination of Skilling and combat so you  
2898s have more distinct roles you have people who are  in that as the combat experts and then you have  
2902s people in there as the Skilling experts and seeing  if they can work together to defeat an NPC um  
2908s that's more of Just A vibe idea I don't really  have anything specific in mind but it could be  
2912s quite fun that sounds really cool what do you  guys think Grace um crystal is like obviously  
2918s from the the vast amount of years that you guys  have been playing the game um and obviously going  
2925s through different different bosses and obviously  with your help of help me defeat bosses um what  
2931s kind of stuff do you guys look for when trying to  access PV uh pvm or you know Skilling bosses like  
2937s is there anything specific that you you like  about this kind of stuff really like trying new  
2943s bosses and seeing the differences with sanctum  and Elidinisthe telegraphing has been amazing  
2950s and it's just like no other boss we've like ever  received and it's been an incredible experience  
2956s cuz it's just something where you're so used to  like kind of just getting out mechanics and then  
2962s understanding how the boss works but with the  telegraphing it's like you know random it's a  
2966s bit more more exciting so I've really enjoyed the  last few boss releases and I'm looking forward to  
2973s more in the future I don't know how Grace feels  yeah um so I'm not a big PBM uh but what I've  
2979s really liked about the last couple of bosses  is that uh it's made it very clear like where  
2985s you're making mistakes um so it's very easy to to  learn um especially like sanctum I mean also with  
2992s this one just like the the blue squares and things  like that it's very clear where you need to avoid  
2997s void um and sanctum having like the three lives  in normal mode it's not so punishing if you make  
3002s a mistake um so you can continue with the fight  um and yeah it's very easy to like to learn um  
3011s these bosses uh and I mean you don't learn  them right away but right it's easy to to  
3016s continue to make progress and I think that's  um been very helpful for me as someone who's  
3021s not a big pvmr but is trying to to get more into  it that's really good to hear because I know uh  
3027s when mod Ryan was doing his design work for  sanctum one of the things that he wants to  
3031s tackle is people's fear of pvm and making it more  not accessible but just like showing that it's  
3036s not scary and that more people can get involved  in it um it sounds like from what you're saying  
3041s there that the kind of work he's been putting in  is making a difference so yeah that's really cool  
3046s that's awesome I mean one thing that definitely  did terrify me when especially when I went to  
3051s the first time before I even started right when I  first began playing and I accidentally went into  
3057s to um falador and then uh into the giant mole boss  and I was like what is this level 300 absolutely  
3065s not and just like that's terrified me ever since  and I've just like avoided that lair until I had  
3071s the wonderful pleasure of talking to our lovely  Discord moderators who were like yeah let's do our  
3075s first boss together and I was like great but no it  worked out really well it worked out really well  
3081s and now we are doing um a boss a month we're doing  one big boss uh a month so doing king black Dragon tomorrow  
3088s so tune in same time tomorrow uh to watch me make  a tit out of myself that'll be fun um but I'll be  
3095s joined by Grace pant which is very helpful and Mrs  Caitlyn I believe which is really really exciting  
3103s um we are almost I don't think it's me joining  tomorrow but you're you're gonna be in good hands

3193s any I would say yeah bits of advice that you  would give to people who are just starting this  
3199s out who are sort of just going through this  now what kind of advice would you give them
3207s and that's who everyone
3208s so I am not sure honestly I am vast majority of  flers are way better at this than me so I don't  
3220s know how much advice I can give fair enough fair  enough um but yeah I think I think M TR is in deep  
3229s I'm I'm back capturing moments yeah U basically  I was just saying like what what kind of advice  
3234s is there um yeah would there be any type of advice  you would give to anyone just starting this boss  
3243s is there anything that you could advise to sort of  like you know optimize their experience a little  
3247s more I don't have much advice about optimization  other than uh bring along mining gear and stuff  
3255s that makes mining faster because then you can  build out the barriers faster um I know one of  
3260s them was go bring a gargoyle I think it's got  bringing a gargoyle help stuff that makes like  
3265s cuz it it's all plugged into the cor mining  system so anything that makes you know extra  
3268s crits extra that kind of stuff then they will be  useful to you um okay does mining gear matter MRE  
3277s said yes there you go um in terms of advice for  the actual boss I would say like I'm going to  
3287s go for the opposite kind of advice and say don't  rush it because it's safe deaths you can kind of  
3294s choose whether you go really Intense or really  slow if you find pvm style encounters a little  
3300s intimidating but you're looking to kind of get  into it from a Skilling point of view I think  
3304s this is a good one to start with not to toot my  own horn but because it is like relatively safe  
3312s fair so don't feel like you have to optimize it  as soon as possible because that's not fun a lot  
3319s of the time right before I think like I'm going  to get canceled for that but whatever before we  
3326s do finish and uh really sad that we have to finish  the stream very soon but um if you all can see our
