As soon as the RS3 Mobile Early Access was announced, I got hyped. To play on my Lenovo Tab 3 (upon which this is being typed) instead of setting up my laptop is appealing. I had the app installed less than half an hour after the Early Access release. Unfortunately, the game is all but unplayable. I submit this post for Jagex's consideration, in the hopes that the data provided will help solve some problems.
After installing the game, logging in, and managing to input my Authenticator code, I am greeted with the splash page for the Mobile Founder's Pack. Claimed it, burned through all the keys (with interesting results for another time), and closed TH. I logged off on Desktop not ten minutes before, standing at the north booth at the Edgeville bank. My standard FashionScape is active - full Inactive Vitality Suit, Crystalline Wings, and Inari Tail, all purple, plus a Purified Sword overriding my Wilderness Sword 1. The world begins to load for about 15 seconds... and then the ride begins. Crash #1. Immediately reopen the app and try again. Crash #2 happens. I figure it's my FashionScape, so I log in on Desktop and disable it all. Log out, reload Mobile, log in. Crash #3.
Having experience in other games with crashes related to my hardware being garbage (I'm RL broke, so my systems are pretty budget), I fall back on my first instinct and drop all graphics settings to minimum possible values. All optional settings are off, all dropdown settings at low. Load in... and for the first glorious time, I successfully load in. My first thought is "was it graphics, or was it the FashionScape?" Open character customization, load Preset 1, close customization. Crash #4. Log in on Desktop, redisable FashionScape, log out, reload Mobile. Load successful. At this point, instead of pushing the limits of what my poor tablet can handle graphically, I decided that baseline tests of functionality are needed. Poke around the UI a little, rotate and zoom the camera, test movement. No big problems. Decide on a quick jaunt to the GE. Down the road, under the wall, and right over to the GE clerk. Prompted to enter bank PIN. Hit first number. It randomizes the buttons... Crash #5. At this point, I'm fed up, and promptly uninstall the app. Play on Desktop for a while, re-enable FashionScape.
Decided to reinstall today. Taking cues from my failures from yesterday, the first thing I do is drop graphics to potato mode. Favorite my usual world, log in. As the world loads, now at the GE west counter, the thought crossed my mind: "SITH SPIT, FashionScape is on! Well, here comes the crash." But... it doesn't. My FashionScape manages to not crash the game... Mostly. During my play on Desktop last night, I trained Magic in the Abyss, so I still had my budget mage gear on - including the Abyssal Wand and Orb, neither of which have a cosmetic override because I can't find a cosmetic wand/orb I like. Eager to see if I could finally isolate the cause of at least one of my crashes yesterday, I hit the bank. Bracing for a crash, enter my PIN... successfully. I breathe a sigh of relief that turns out to be premature: I open my bank, loading my last used tab, which is my Quest Items and Miscellaneous tab. A few items load. Then it crashes. Reload, try again, same thing except it loads a few more items first.
I get that I can't expect miracles from a $100 tablet. But 7 crashes in a grand total of ten minutes playing is rough. Is anyone else experiencing any of these? I will continue to test, updating this thread with each fresh crash.
