Within the minigame Pyramid Plunder, you can can come across the outfit pieces of the mysterious Black Ibis. We currently don't know who they worked for.

In these collection of tales, the player would get the opportunity to explore that reason, along with the reason why the Guardian Mummy allows people to 'loot' the pyramid.

Starting Requirements:

  • Access to Pyramid Plunder

  • Completed Buyers and Cellars

  • 91 Thieving

  • Having a Black Ibis Outfit, Elite Thieving Outfit, or Rogue Outfit would be 'helpful'.

To start: Talk to Darren at the Thieve's Guild.

The Guild would have come across a scroll. Old, antique, etc etc. Sure worth a few coins. But Darren points out the real value of the scroll ... he wants you to go to the Pyramid.

Oh, and one other thing ... it appears the scroll has an inscription on it: don't steal. You'll need to make it all the way to the final room without looting anything within the 5 minute timeframe.

When you unlock the Tomb Doors in Room 8, the game timer will stop and you'll find yourself in a new 'starting room'. Here the Guardian Mummy will be more annoyed than normal that you made it there.

When you show him the scroll that Darren gave you, he'll be hit with a spell.

The Mummy will now be more ... agreeable ... and give you some added lore behind the Black Ibis and the pharaoh related to Jalsavrah. But only some. He will state that if you want more information, you will need to uncover that for yourself. He's not responsible if you die trying to uncover information.

From here on, the player will now be able to access the new room. This room will have 4 doors the player can go into.

Each room will be slightly similar to Dungeoneering and Thieving, where the player needs to stealthily navigate a room ... and like the rest of the them of Pyramid Plunder ... loot urns, chests, and sarcophagi, looking for tomes and scraps of paper to put together some coded journals. During the looting, you'll have even more increased chances of getting Scepters, Black Ibis Outfit Pieces (if not owned), and the usual higher end loot from Plunder.

In each room, a mechanic can be added where having the related Thieving Outfits would add some benefit to being more stealthy ... Rogue Outfit = ok, Black Ibis outfit = better, Elite Thieving Outfits = Best.

Each of the 4 rooms will tell their own chapter in the history of the Desert and the Black Ibis.

Each room will still have a 5 minute timer that you experience in a normal PP game. So .. .yeah ... it may take more than 1 or 2 runs to complete each room.

Upon completion of the Tales, the player will be awarded Thieving XP and any related skills (ie: Dungeoneering). As well as access to what are effectively higher tier Pyramid Plunder Rooms.

Fun fact, the backstory of the Black Ibis was supposed to be elaborated upon in Menaphos, unfortunately Jagex ran out of time/money or whatever and it was cut. /u/jagexrowley or /u/jagexorion probably know more.

Was it? That's news to me. I'm sure ideas were floating around, but none we ever committed to. :)
