15s for 2024 yep the time is finally here we
18s are in the studio mod hully has come a
20s very very long way we are live we are
22s live in the studio ready to drop a bunch
23s of content news your way so thank you so

33s you here yeah it definitely is look it's
37s we know this has been uh a a few months
40s of time with no real longer view ahead
42s uh we know that's something you've
43s really wanted to see and so we're not
44s going to mess around today this isn't a
46s summit style stream we this is more of
48s us getting on camera wanting to be out
49s there in front of all of you and answer
51s your desires for a road map in person or
53s as it in person as we can get at least
55s from this point so we're going to spend
57s a quick 5 to 10 minutes providing a bit
59s of context on what's coming up and then
61s we're going to get right into it we're
62s talking full road map reveal allinone
64s within the first 15 minutes of the show
67s then we're going to get into a
67s discussion to provide some more details
69s on what to expect from the content we
71s announced so we don't want to keep wa
73s you waiting any longer than we have to

93s we said we wanted to make this quick so
94s let's get into it we have a little
96s someone to introduce you to first uh
98s we're going to open with a new guest
100s we're going to say a quick hello to mod
102s Marcus mod Marcus hello do you want to
104s give us a little introduction who are
106s you hello there yeah so I'm mod Marcos
108s um so for the last couple of years I've
110s been the executive producer on old
112s school RuneScape and recently I've begun
113s working on RuneScape
116s 2 fantastic so the immediate question is
119s what are you up to here on RuneScape
122s what does you being here mean so mostly
125s uh recently I've been working with the
126s team so in particular with a focus on
128s the the general mission to try and make
129s RuneScape a lot more player Centric and
131s how we developed the content um it's
133s just something that the team's been
134s working on in quite a meaningful way
136s over um over recent times in the last
137s year or so and one of the other goals of
140s me working with the team is to try and
141s bring over some of the best practices
142s from Old School uh to RuneScape where
145s that's kind of appropriate and today's
146s kind of the start of that really so uh
148s old school over the last couple of years
150s we've been trying to make an effort to
151s have quite a degree of transparency
152s around upcoming road maps we've been
154s talking to players like you know six
155s months or so in advance about what's
157s coming to the game and we want to do
159s something similar here to what rcap
161s sorry old school's been doing over
162s during the uh the Summits we do twice a
164s year fantastic well so that really means
167s that we can look forward to some some
169s pretty decent visibility so what can we
172s expect in terms of announcements how far
174s ahead are we looking to give players
176s visibility into our content plans yeah
178s so the announcements the team will be
179s talking about day will be going through
180s to the end of
182s 2024 um and apart from some smaller
184s updates which will be more like quality
186s of life improvements or more
187s opportunistic things this will be pretty
188s much everything we're releasing for the
190s rest of the year um when we get to run
192s Fest in September we'll be looking to
194s make as part of our keynote we'll be
195s announcing like the key beats for
197s 2025 um and then it's also um uh after
201s that we'll be looking to move towards
202s something again more similar potentially
204s to old school where there's like a
205s summit type format where we'll be doing
206s road map reveals on more regular basis
208s so a couple of times a year I would
209s imagine with still exactly finalizing
211s how that's going to work um and then
213s also it's probably also worth
215s highlighting that after this um live
216s stream we'll be sending out the um uh
218s the RuneScape survey which will be
220s similar to what we've been doing of old
221s school for quite a few years now and
223s that's a kind of like long form survey
225s which allows players to give detail
226s feedback on firstly what they think of
227s the road map we're revealing today but
228s also kind of future updates and that
230s will allow us to work with the team and
232s figure out like what the most popular
233s updates will be in the future that the
235s players are most excited about yeah
237s really exciting and especially to hear
238s things like Summits and everything being
240s something we're looking forward to uh
242s we'll have more on that survey and some
244s other opportunities to add your voice to
246s our content development uh to detail
247s later in the show stick around for that
250s um speaking of which kind of what can
252s player expects players expect from rest
254s of this year in terms of how we'll
255s operate what does this all player
258s influence development stuff actually
259s mean well yeah good question so um again
262s it'll be similar to old school be taking
264s pieces of the process that work with
265s well with old school in terms of
267s particularly around like player
268s consultation as being part more of the
269s develop velopment pipeline so this will
271s be when we're um uh looking at potential
274s updates and ideas we've got we've
275s talking to the community about it
277s earlier on um and we're also looking to
279s make sure there's much more regular
281s dialogue with the players in terms of
282s more regular blogs hopefully both do
284s more live streams and things as well um
286s and then yes it's not just road maps it
287s should be the general like the level of
289s discussion with the players and the
290s frequency of interaction stuff should
292s increase um just to be clear though
294s because I've seen some chatter about
295s this on Reddit and stuff previously we
296s won't be taking the polling system from
298s old school that's an old school unique
300s thing really um but we will be much more
302s using things like Discord discussions
304s blogging um and the survey that's I've
306s just mentioned earlier as part of um
308s informing our decision- making such much
309s better align kind of what players want
311s from the road map and things as well
312s yeah so coming into this we've we've I
316s think it's fair to say that when we've
317s spoken to players a lot of the feedback
318s has been around the fact that we've
320s provided much less forward visibility on
322s our content plans and things have felt a
323s little bit more sporadic um and we've
326s really heard that from the players and
327s so we want to make sure that that
330s something we're putting a lot more focus
331s and attention on is that right yeah
333s that's correct so um what we're
336s ultimately looking to do is move the
337s game towards just a much more regular
339s release of cadence of content so you'd
341s be looking at a more a meaningful piece
343s of content going into the game each
344s month and that would be uh when we say
347s meaningful that means like a permanent
348s piece of content rather than something
349s Emeral like a temporary event or
351s something so generally we' be looking to
353s make sure there's something meaningful
354s going to the update each month and then
356s during the other weeks we'll be looking
357s at smaller more opportunistic updates to
358s make sure that there's just a much more
360s regular beat in terms of like meaningful
361s updates going to the players um and then
364s we're also looking at trying to find
365s ways to bring more of like the community
367s Hit List improvements and things into
369s the road map on a regular basis as well
370s so again that'll be working closely with
372s the community and CM and so on to kind
374s of deliver
375s that look I I think all really good
377s stuff we want to get to the road map uh
379s we got a Content hungry audience out
381s there but I in chat yeah we we see you
383s chat however I think there is one really
386s important question to ask you you know
388s we've seen this real fear out there that
390s you know this is a game 23 years into
392s life that we all deeply love and there's
394s this fear that is it being wound down
396s are we going to some sort of maintenance
397s mode towards kind of a a less content
400s driven eventual death maybe even can you
403s assure players that that's not
404s runescape's current trajectory because I
406s think it's really important to the
407s audience at home uh yeah so I can I can
409s categorically say RuneScape is not in
410s maintenance mode like it's extremely
412s important to like me the team jagex as a
414s whole um and I hope you'll feel that
416s from the road map we're sharing today um
419s that there's a lot of life in the game
420s and we've got a lot of ideas around
422s where it can go and like uh really cool
424s updates that all the players will
425s enjoying things and from a personal
427s perspective I've worked at jagex for
429s like many years now so I joined uh way
431s back in the day in like the early
432s Jurassic era and I think that it was um
435s and I've worked uh many many years ago
437s on RuneScape worked from RuneScape for a
439s number of years and then went on to some
440s other projects before going back to old
441s school and now I'm obviously back on
442s RuneScape um and from my personal
445s perspective the game means a lot to me
446s like I've spent a lot of my life working
448s it is quite close to my heart and I want
450s to see it kind of thriving and
451s successful obviously for many many years
453s and I'm ambitious for the game in the
454s same way as I was when I began working
455s on Old School a few years ago like I
457s want to see it be really successful and
458s grow over a number of years and uh in
460s particular um we want to be obviously as
463s always with the runes Scapes what's made
465s them successful is their connection to
466s the community and being really close to
467s what the community wants and what the
468s community needs and making sure we're
470s kind of embodying that Spirit as well as
472s possible um and obviously over a lot of
475s the time this year has been essentially
477s like getting ourselves ready to kind of
479s like uh re shape exactly how we're
480s working and then kind of like getting to
482s this point where we can kind of like uh
484s public facing kind of release of the
486s road map and hopefully all the players
487s really like it yeah and I know you're a
489s big believer in action and not words and
491s obviously we're talking to you today
492s talk about our intentions but very much
494s hopefully the roap will be a first
495s showing and that regard will keep going
498s um I'm sure a lot of players out there
500s they very least are very happy to hear

555s dropping on May 28th that's a Tuesday CU
558s there's a bank holiday I'm very sorry
559s OAS comes with a very small Quest where
561s you uncover her Lair then it's down to
563s fighting a new midlevel boss with your
565s newly acquired necromancy Powers it
567s looks awesome then in June we're ALS Al
570s dropping the demon archaeology site
572s which is two new locations in which
573s you'll uncover a bunch of artifacts
576s uncover Mysteries and even get a new
578s Relic power and then of course the other
581s bits that you know already we've got the
583s beach coming up instead of a brand new
584s summer event we spoke about this before
586s and we've got some extra stuff for Pride
589s but now let's get on to the bits you
591s don't know let's show some new stuff wow
594s we got the first pillar coming up
595s straight away so we got some really
597s exciting stuff to come this summer on
599s new boss dungeon the sanctum of rebirth
602s is a spin on an elite dungeon where
604s you'll take on three unique bosses
606s across both normal and hard difficulties
609s what is that spin instead of traversing
611s through areas packed with Mobs to get to
612s the boss fights you'll go straight from
614s boss fight to boss fight this is pure
617s bossing front to back expect new tier 95
621s weapons maybe something beyond that
625s too also on that front uh We've also got
628s new Skilling content on the way from for
629s Mining and smithing now we know skillers
631s have been asking us for more reasons to
633s use existing skills so we're putting a
635s concerted effort into more regular
637s releases for our skills in our Mining
640s and smithing release we'll release new
642s ores to mine new bars to create new
644s armor and equipment to craft and yes
647s even something that I was going to say
649s right now but I'm going to say for the
650s devs later on stay tuned for our chat
653s afterwards where uh we'll go more into
655s our plans and Our intention to gather
656s player feedback on ways we could add
658s this content to the existing skills
660s so separate to those releases people in
662s chat are already talking about it you're
663s getting ahead of me how dare you we're
665s also prioritizing two updates we know
666s you've been asking for for a very long
668s time yes the city of um is getting area
671s task we are completing the area task set
673s for the city of um and delivering that
675s fourth conjured spirit that you've been
677s asking for 106 necromancy mysterious
679s entry is finally getting filled and
681s you're going to get your fourth conjure
684s Rejoice you know what take the next
687s one if you insist you take the next
690s this Autumn we'll be releasing our
692s second ever Skilling boss into RuneScape
694s this Skilling boss will be tied into the
696s narrative that we establish within the
698s sanctum of rebirth we're still in the
700s early stages of development this one but
701s we are so excited and have plenty of
703s plans to discuss how we're going to
704s approach this Skilling boss with you the
707s community especially when it comes to
709s our reward system we cannot wait to chat
712s to you about this one uh just to jump in
714s as well we've got room Fest on there
716s it's not content but it's r fest could
718s not mention it on the road map could we
719s so absolutely big shout out toest we're
721s back on the content train we've also got
723s a new story Quest this Autumn which is
724s going to be picking up from Rec gam for
726s a dragon I have to say four because if I
728s say of a dragon I'll get told off we'll
730s be venturing into the sanctum and
732s learning more about this new Skilling
733s boss we talked about earlier and the
736s last pillar last but by certainly no
738s means least so for this next one just
740s before we reveal it uh we're going to be
742s a bit cheeky we've got an update we're
744s going to hide to the end you'll get why
745s when you see it I promise this is not a
747s major update moment there are no update
750s moments coming here uh I'm sure chat's
752s still going to go full o on this anyway
754s but uh there is something we're going to
755s show you right at the end of this we're
757s not waiting to the end of the show just
758s to the end of this road map reveal so

762s pillar remember when we mentioned those
764s Skilling updates earlier well yeah we're
766s we're going to we're going to jump in
767s here with another reason wood cutting
770s and Fletching are going to be getting
772s another one this one's further out than
773s Mining and smithing so we're light on
774s details trust us on this let us cook
776s please chat let me cook but it'll add a
778s similar style of content here two
779s Skilling content for skillers what a win
783s and of course the most powerful time of
786s the year when my power reaches its
787s absolute limit the the happiest time of
789s year it's Halloween it's getting the
791s seasonal event treatment we're talking
793s season Quest event Hub memorable
795s characters a whole bunch of spooky
797s feelings I got all dressed up like this
799s and it's nothing to do with Halloween so
801s I'm going to be even more over the top
802s when we get to this we'll be taking a
804s smaller scale approach this year given
806s how much Focus we want to put on
807s permanent content but it is desperately
810s in need of so much love so we couldn't
812s leave it behind so I'm looking forward
814s to that one you get the next pair as
816s well CU I'm getting the hidden thing and
818s then in Winter 2024 not winter 2017 all
822s five or six weeks of what Winter's going
823s to be because it's we've had winter
825s feels like a lifetime now so hopefully
827s we're not back in winter too quickly but
828s we're going to be dropping another story
830s quest to continue The Narrative of our
831s Autumn story Quest so still plenty
833s coming questers and L hounds Pride
835s Slayer is probably going feral in chat
837s right now I don't even have to look and
839s then finally we've got the return of the
841s Beloved Christmas Village from 2023 now
844s that we've invested some time into
846s setting up our beloved hub for Christmas
847s our efforts here are going to be some
849s small updates new rewards another new
852s seasonal Quest pretty much the treatment
853s you expect next year for our newly
855s established seasonal events rolling on
858s from here on out yeah I think it's a
860s really important Point that's why we set
861s up those hubs we also heard your
862s feedback as well about that balance that
864s maros talked to as well so that's really
866s cool look we've uh almost reached the
868s end of road map we have one last reveal
870s to make uh before we do I just want say
872s a big shout out to the team behind this
874s there's a lot of heart and soul that's
875s been P into this road map and a lot of
877s listening to what you might want to see
879s a real focus on variety and we hope the
881s work that's gone into making sure this
883s is significant content pair with kind of
884s other smaller releases that you also
886s care about comes through uh as just as I
888s mentioned that kind of real focus on
890s trying to deliver on variety there is
892s that one last spot to fill in on the
893s picture though uh I think chat chat bra

1353s we've had a lot of fun watching chat by
1355s the way and all your differing opinions
1356s uh it's been a lot of fun uh it's time
1358s to give you some first details on some
1360s of these contents uh contents but pieces
1362s of content that we have planned for you
1364s some more than others depending on where
1365s we are in development but we want to
1366s give you a really good feel for
1368s everything we've announced to as much a
1370s level as we can so to talk combat and
1373s some about our existing announced
1374s content for uh May and June uh let's say
1377s a warm hello to mod black witch hello oh
1381s I was waiting for the switch there
1383s make um so mod sponge whoa going
1387s straight over yo hey hi I like to spice
1389s things up and what Roman hello hey
1391s everyone so right first thing let's talk
1393s about osus because that is coming up as
1395s players have seen in the ingame calendar
1397s just a couple weeks away um we're going
1399s to keep this lighter because it is
1401s something already known but can you give
1403s us a quick overview of OAS what what are
1405s we expecting from this content yeah no
1407s problem um OAS is the fourth matriarch
1410s what camera are we on that one uh I'll
1412s talk to you osus is the fourth uh
1416s matriarch it came from a game Jam
1418s project inspired by uh mod Ryan and a
1422s bunch of others uh they had it as a game
1424s Jam project a lot of the community was
1426s super interested in this so uh we bought
1428s it to light and I was the developer that
1430s was lucky enough to work on it bring
1432s their Vision to life um as as expected
1436s it does sit in line with the other
1438s matriarchs with necromancy being the the
1441s weakness and damage sty it deals um but
1444s we wanted to do a little bit more of a
1445s Twist uh we learned from the feedback
1447s that we had from the other matriarch
1448s when we released them so we made this
1450s one A Little Bit Stronger a little bit
1453s more mechanical but again to to set
1456s expectations is set expectations it is a
1459s midlevel boss so for those people
1462s rocking their razal lanterns and razal
1464s gear you're probably going to go in and
1466s smash it um but it's you know it's M TI
1469s boss so there is a quest that precedes
1472s it um so this is sort of soft lock it
1475s behind a a 70 necromancy uh level so for
1479s those players with 7 necromancy and I
1481s believe 30 or 55 archaeology you'll be
1485s able to complete this Quest and you'll
1486s have access to OAS awesome uh look um I
1490s know we're going to reveal this full
1492s very soon uh we'll actually be giving
1494s people a look at this next week so let's
1496s we'll we'll save most of that this
1497s conversation for then but can you tell
1500s us something sneaky we might not already
1501s know about the osus update something
1505s sneaky oh there's four pets oh I mean
1509s that is sneaky yeah that's a sneaky
1511s that's a sneaky drop that's four pets um
1513s and did someone say Skelly
1516s Velociraptors uh not very good at
1519s paleontology are you is is it
1520s paleontology the the bones no I don't
1522s know if you know this though not there
1525s there's going to be mini mini bony dinos
1527s but um yeah good I'm looking forward to
1530s showing you that look uh for more
1532s information on that next week we'll give
1534s you a full look at osus um look we also
1536s want to touch very quickly on uh the
1538s archaeology dig site coming in July for
1540s demon uh big props uh to two the mods
1543s obviously we wanted to as well such an
1545s amazing team effort like there loads of
1547s people we could have got the whole team
1548s on here and this would be like
1549s unfortunately we don't have the seats
1551s which is the but we do have the lovely
1554s mod black witch with us as well to talk
1555s about it uh and doom obviously you've
1557s got some information as well so
1559s um do you what can you tell us firstly
1561s black witch about the new dig site
1563s what's going on there um so yeah new
1566s archaeology dig site I think mini dig
1568s site set on demon which um was started
1571s as a game Jam project by m KOC and M fro
1575s and M kid I think it is and um they've
1578s been working on it for quite a while now
1581s specifically targeting like some level
1583s gaps that there were in archaeology
1584s where he didn't really have anything new
1586s to uncover so M really wanted to provide
1589s some new content there so yeah this
1591s comes with um a new graphic update to
1596s the surface world of demon which people
1597s did not expect I think we didn't even
1600s expect I but looks incredible I cannot
1603s wait for you to see this thing it's
1605s stunning yeah I think we we went away
1606s and then like I remember you mentioned
1609s at the end of one week you were like oh
1611s yeah I've kind of pitched this idea to
1612s the rest of the environment team it
1613s would be like cool yeah I I had started
1617s doing a quick overhaul to the surface of
1619s demon and then asked mod Alex like hey
1622s there's a few issues with it cuz I kind
1623s of brushed it can you just fix those
1625s then went on holiday to Ed bro came back
1627s saw like first thing I saw were like
1629s really beautiful concepts for demim I
1632s was like interesting and then he's
1636s completely overhauled it so it looks
1637s beautiful it looks really good a yeah it
1641s way more imposing than what was there
1643s before um so I can't wait for players to
1645s see that but it also comes with a a
1649s other new area that you uncover there
1651s was already an image of it alluding to
1653s it in the road map it's the one on the
1655s road map right yes it is and there's
1657s also already a white box on on my
1659s Twitter but for anyone who wants to see
1660s it but yeah it's very exciting it's it's
1663s so cool and it's super atmospheric and
1665s it's like just a really imposing area
1668s deep below demon hiy surface no not not
1673s that one I when you said new I was like
1676s I know where their brains are going it's
1678s 4 61 however there should be some some
1681s nice or are we just saying that no I'm
1683s not going to no it's not I promise you
1687s yeah the only the the other thing was
1689s just to touch on that M has very
1692s passionately spoken to me about this
1693s being like I couldn't stand there being
1695s gaps in the archaeology leveling so it
1697s is levels 73 to 87 there will be stuff
1701s for you and then when you go deeper it's
1703s 103 to 113 so there's stuff in there now
1707s and Mysteries and a relic and artifacts
1711s so lots of cool stuff for you to get
1713s stuck into which is amazing yeah and
1715s again it won't be too long till we give
1716s you a look at that content either we
1717s want to really focus on what we
1719s announced today so by no means are we
1721s giving these a quick skim over for any
1723s reason other than that um we really
1725s can't wait for you see them and
1725s hopefully you'll have a lot of fun with
1726s them when they released so on that note
1729s sanctum of rebirth he says looking at
1732s mod
1733s sponge um so we introduced a whole bunch
1736s of terminology when we end I was talking

1742s rebirth if you had to describe it in
1744s just a few
1746s lines o that's the first word of the
1749s line um so it's a um the musical Edition
1753s I see it's similar to an elite
1755s dungeon um but it is essentially a boss
1760s dungeon for one to four players um and
1762s it's set in some part of the
1765s underworld which part you'll find out
1768s later interesting that's a okay uh it's
1771s a very Al uh um Pitch but I love it um
1775s elevator pitch was the I was um work
1778s hard today um so why a boss dungeon I
1780s think that's probably a question people
1781s ask is like why did we not just make an
1783s elite dungeon this content why this kind
1785s of new boss to boss content um so we
1788s kind of wanted to tral something
1790s different um you see with a lot of
1792s previous League dungeons players are
1794s like oh wouldn't it be cool if I could
1796s do boss one and then boss two and boss
1798s three and not have to do the chaff in
1800s between um and we were kind of like yeah
1803s that would be cool um so let's tral it
1805s add it as a different type of content we
1807s can do um if players like it and if not
1809s hey ho um we can go back to Elite
1811s dungeons if we want them um so yeah it's
1815s kind
1815s of why not let's try it because I know
1818s that that was a lot of the feedback that
1820s we got with when we recently fil recent
1822s it's probably a lifetime ago time is an
1824s illusion when we made the change to
1827s zamari and under City where it used to
1828s 25 runs and then it was like oh it's
1829s just one then you get to fight zamurai
1831s that change was something that players
1833s really resonated with cuz it was just
1834s like I just want to fight the bosses I
1836s just want to I just want to fight the
1837s big bads yeah exactly staying on the
1839s subject of big bads are they are they
1843s brand new bosses are they drag drop from
1846s existing bosses are they kind of have we
1848s like stuck two bosses together and we
1849s put like kbd on carac or what we doing
1853s here like yeah we we just took giant mle
1856s what if you were somewhere else
1859s GI you you killed Giant M on the surface
1862s and now he's in the Underworld you just
1863s K him uh no it's it's three new
1868s bosses um there's some clear
1871s Inspirations from other places but it's
1873s absolutely new bosses um with some
1877s pretty unique stuff going on I assume
1879s when we say three new bosses this is
1882s still very much that Elite dungeon
1883s format right so I'm assuming the boss
1886s difficulty kind of going from one to the
1887s other will probably be kind of that same
1889s gradual ramp up right is
1891s that I think that's fair to say um I
1894s think that's fair to say um they are
1897s similar to Elite dungeon bosses um
1900s because we were able to get rid of the
1901s chaff though they're probably slightly
1903s more complex right not necessarily as
1905s complex as zamak because obviously zamak
1907s was a huge huge
1909s project that was very
1911s evil yeah part Evil part um but yeah
1916s they will be more
1919s I want to say mechanically complex than
1921s say cian l where he's just like head
1924s slamming everywhere and that's all he
1925s does yeah um so yeah the head slam's
1928s killed me so it's some sort of mechanic
1930s yeah it catches everyone isue it's fine
1932s don't worry about it um building on from
1935s that new
1937s bosses they got to drop something right
1939s like are we are we looking that there's
1942s going to be cuz we kind of alluded to it
1943s when we spoke about the
1945s right Spirit weed seeds that's what
1950s more charms at last finally um so yeah
1954s they will
1956s release the tier 95 magic dual wield
1959s weapons um oh yeah yeah they they're
1963s going to have some other drops as well
1965s um we won't go into those right now um
1967s because some stuff still being finalized
1969s on them um but yeah 1095 magic dual
1972s wield for sure something else that's
1974s Prett really cool I'm pretty hyped about
1976s it um but yeah that all that covers the
1980s rewards nicely I think amazing couple
1981s couple questions I want to ask you so
1983s obviously one of the questions we always
1984s get with pvm content talks about osus
1987s being kind of more of a mid-level boss
1989s we've mentioned this has normal and hard
1991s mode do we have any particular kind of
1993s Target of combat player we're looking to
1996s I I know we don't like to kind of put
1997s our Combat on a scale but are we
2000s thinking is this going to maybe be
2002s something that top end players you know
2004s our really experienced pvmers are going
2005s to find some challenge in where's kind
2007s of Our intention at least in terms of
2009s our thinking so first off I don't know
2011s if we had mentioned normal and hard mode
2013s before you just said mention normal hard
2014s mode so there is a normal and a hard
2016s mode as a start in case we didn't make
2018s that clear um so we're kind of taking
2021s Elite Dungeons and doing a spin on it um
2023s so Elite dungeons had story mode normal
2025s mode story mode didn't really serve
2027s anyone um because it was kind of for
2029s players that couldn't do normal mode but
2031s then it was so unrewarding you didn't
2032s want to do it anyways um so instead
2034s we're going with normal mode and hard
2036s mode uh where normal mode
2039s it's it takes the essence of story mode
2042s where it's a bit safer but it's not
2045s necessarily much easier it's safer in
2047s the sense of um we're going to try out
2049s some new death
2050s mechanics um potentially um with the
2054s intention that you won't feel scared to
2058s go and get involved and go and try it
2059s out um whereas then hard mode will be
2062s more of your more common what you're
2064s used to bossing experience yeah and
2067s that's really important I'm glad you
2068s touched this is going to be my second
2069s question I know we've talked a little
2071s bit about it there's some new ideas
2073s floting around for this dungeon even
2075s potentially a new way of thinking about
2078s when we're talking about 1095 weapons
2080s and how we might approach that the
2082s community do you want to give us a
2083s little bit of information on that how
2085s are we going to be working with players
2086s on this do I want to know will I
2088s yes um so with the tier 95 weapons um
2093s time permitting we're going to run a
2095s beta um with a chunk of effects uh not
2098s sure how many yet but we've got some
2100s ideas for what we want them to do we're
2102s going to put on the beta get community
2103s feedback see what they like um and go
2106s from there so if there's something that
2107s really resonates Community then we'll go
2108s with that one um it saves us making the
2111s decisions I'm honestly I'm so excited
2113s because we've never really kind of gone
2115s hey what would you want the tier 95 kind
2117s of special effect or route we take it in
2120s to be so this will be quite interesting
2122s if we end up being able to do I know
2123s we've talked about it it's really
2124s exciting and I know what players can
2127s expect to hear more from us soon
2128s basically on you know that de mechanic
2130s you've been talking about we're going to
2132s be talking about that with the community
2133s very very soon so this is just some of
2135s the ways we're trying to take that
2136s community-driven development into these
2139s early projects and yeah there's a lot
2141s more I think to talk about really next

2152s of other bits I know on the road map
2154s that we kind of touched on we kind of
2155s glanced over them um the necromancy Helm

2170s of conversation around balancing so is
2172s there any I know that the combat update
2174s was something we really looked at with
2177s the beta at the beginning of the year is

2180s be doing in that
2182s regard um yes it's not fixed on the road
2186s map um I think you heard mod maros talk
2189s about a bit earlier um where kind of
2191s leaving room for devs to develop and
2193s kind of fill those gaps um so we're
2197s definitely not forgetting about
2198s balancing um there's a lot of
2199s improvements still we want to make to
2200s combat um they might not be as big as
2203s the combat beta was there might be a
2205s small thing here here or there um inside
2209s another project or as a project itself

2588s first thing I wanted to talk about is
2589s the Skilling
2590s boss uh what is Our intention for that
2595s core
2596s experience of this Skilling boss is this
2598s a solo boss a group boss is
2601s this different mechanics is this going
2603s to be the same skills as crosis what are
2606s we looking at so I'm going to preface
2608s all of this by saying that we've
2609s basically only just started working on
2611s the Skilling boss is a little way out
2612s still so a lot of what I'm saying is
2613s going to be working progress um in terms
2616s of our design
2618s intentions it is building on what we've
2621s learned from crois it will be different
2622s skills it will be a different vibe
2624s different aesthetic um solo and
2629s groupable I think is Our intention as
2631s well we'd like for for both to be
2633s possible
2634s um and yeah kind of just this will be
2638s our second Skilling boss so building on
2640s what we've learned before and seeing
2642s what new stuff we can do as well amazing
2646s so crois obviously was part of such a
2649s massive
2651s narrative Arc I'm going to use the term
2654s H C obviously fit in with with the
2656s narrative are we looking for something
2657s similar here with with the new I'm just
2660s going to say new Skilling boss yeah yeah
2663s um it will
2665s be very heavily tied into the sanctum of
2667s rebirth there's basically three updates
2669s that
2670s are pretty much being developed in
2672s tandem so we've got the sanctum of
2673s rebirth we've got the Skilling boss and
2675s we've got the accompany and Quest as
2676s well so they will all be packaged up and
2680s in the same location dealing with the
2681s same themes that kind of stuff
2684s um it will have some kind of tie into to
2687s The Wider story as well via the quest um
2690s but yeah expect it to be thematically
2693s similar to sanctum of rebirth and using
2696s that the story established there to um
2698s to do its thing super very very cool um
2702s there was a little bit of conversation
2704s when it appeared on the road mapap of
2706s people saying oh crois is gone no I
2710s think I think our intention is to make
2712s sure that this sits it it's additive
2714s it's additive crois is a really popular
2716s encounter people if you look at the data
2718s a lot of people play crois I want to say
2720s it's our second one of the most popular
2722s encounters out there which is amazing to
2724s see um so we're kind of giving players
2727s more of that and experimenting a bit and
2729s you see what old school can do with
2730s their Skilling bosses what can we learn
2732s from that um what can we bring into
2734s RuneScape to to spice things up and make
2737s things more you know give a bit more
2739s variety and I think that one of the key
2741s things that we've from the conversations
2744s that we've had internally around it is
2747s and I've seen chat mentioning it um is
2751s the approach towards public grouping and
2755s contributions and how loot is minated
2757s and I think that that's something that
2759s we're we we're factoring into our
2761s approach yeah right I yeah so it'll
2763s definitely be learning from crisis
2768s and excuse me I'm sorry I lost my train
2771s of thought there definitely learning
2772s from CIS definitely um seeing what we
2775s can do to
2777s to build on it sorry I had I had a
2781s thought there and then it just exited my
2782s brain wor one of the like one of the
2785s main concerns that we looked at was
2787s whether or not your reward depends on
2789s other people's performance essentially
2791s that that we want to make sure whether
2793s it's solo whether it's group that that
2795s you get the reward based on your
2796s performance not based on the performance
2797s of everyone else yeah and so it the
2800s combination of both being able to
2802s comfortably group knowing that your
2804s contribution is what impacts it and also
2807s being able to solo it gives you the
2808s option to pick and choose which one's
2810s more comfortable to you that's awesome
2813s but the Skilling boss is only one part
2814s of this whole sort of Skilling
2818s I don't know what you what you call what
2819s would you call this sort of area the
2821s Skilling area this whole bit thing that
2824s of this year so the other part of this
2828s is the other most cryptic one of the
2829s most cryptic things on our road map
2831s Skilling updates
2833s so putting you on the spot more Breezy
2836s what can you tell us about these
2839s Skilling updates what kind of thing are
2841s we looking at I think I might throw that
2844s question back over to to M Jack well
2847s we're going to talk about the purpose of
2848s them and then I'll talk about what's
2850s coming up sure yeah yeah sure future
2851s yeah so we want to give um our players a
2854s regular Cadence of Skilling updates um
2856s we want to give players things to do
2858s things to chase for new items to obtain
2860s things to upgrade new objectives just
2863s just overall RuneScape objectives things
2864s that add to your RuneScape life your
2866s your RuneScape career um it's it's been
2869s a while really since we've we've had a
2870s regular drop of all that sort of stuff
2872s and that's that's something we want to
2873s get back to because that's what makes
2875s part of RuneScape core amazing that's
2877s brilliant I know that the skillers out
2879s there are going to love that and they're
2881s going to be really looking forward to
2882s having more updates for them skillers
2885s out there Hi I see you're probably
2887s clicking on a tree right now hi um so
2890s what do we kind of hope that this is
2894s leaning towards in terms of the kind of
2897s Skiller that we're aiming for is there
2901s is there a kind of content that we're
2903s hoping to create in that in that sense
2906s yeah I mean it'll be content that's
2908s available for everyone to uh to interact
2911s with granted they have the levels um and
2914s that being really up at the at the high
2917s end um aiming around the the 99 area um
2921s so definitely definitely look out for
2922s for more news on it very soon super
2924s that's exciting that is good because I'm
2926s sure that a lot of people are really
2927s excited for just more things to look
2930s forward to as they're getting up through
2931s those levels I know
2932s that agility my beloved there's there's
2935s nothing there it's okay don't worry
2937s we're it's fine we're just going to do
2938s anacron lapse for the rest of time it's
2940s okay that's our that's our punishment
2942s but outside of that there's going to be
2943s some really cool opportunities for us to
2944s explore which is super super cool um
2947s that's one of the things I think that we
2948s took away from for for 3 is there was a
2949s lot of skill and content there but a lot
2951s of it was very midgame and it just
2953s wasn't giving players anything to do and
2955s so we want to make sure that we're
2956s addressing that when we talk about
2957s regular skill and content we'll talk
2959s about regular high-end skill and content
2960s yeah about just creating something that
2963s feels additive when you're hitting the
2966s you know hitting that 99 being like well
2967s here I am for the next forever just
2972s adding something to break that up is
2973s really really cool and super important
2974s that's awesome I'm really ex I'm really
2977s excited to it
2979s and
2981s so have you guys
2983s heard of The Mining and smithing update
2987s funnily enough all three of us worked on
2989s it um Jack was the the lead designer um
2992s Breezy I think you were QA at the time
2994s yeah and myself developing it um so
2997s really good team of people to be working
2999s on F the work on man and
3001s smithing super what can players expect
3004s to see in this kind of update to a skill
3008s that everyone knows and loves what kind
3010s of sort of changes are we looking at
3013s that sounds like one for me um I do have
3015s some notes prepared because the the ink
3017s is still wait on this design we've just
3018s done like a week of development on it so
3019s far um so we're adding a we're adding
3023s Primal variance of the 10 demon Wars so
3026s um that like novite up to promethium um
3029s Pro um Primal version of those to new
3032s mining sites on the surface you'll smelt
3034s Primal or into Primal bars which will
3037s then Smith into Primal armor and
3039s Equipment uh this includes the next tier
3042s of orbox upgradable Primal pickaxes the
3046s new Bas and Slot orable pickaxe and a
3050s Masterwork
3051s weapon very nice that's a lot that's a
3054s lot to unpack or a lot to smell
3057s I don't really know what you would the
3059s smithing equivalent of unpacking is
3062s anyway chat's going crazy we love to see
3064s that um tant the chat is so
3067s tantalizingly close I can almost see it
3069s but I know sorry you I'll get distracted
3071s you're going to get distracted I'll get
3072s distracted by it'll it'll be like the
3074s old Des Zone CH you'll be like I'll some
3075s the chat and then you'll just go on a
3076s bit of anyway so what what do we feel
3080s like is the continued value of this in
3084s terms
3085s of expanding on
3087s the skills that we have what what are we
3089s what are we looking for and how we
3091s approach this with skillers yeah it's we
3093s want to add skill and content that's
3094s that's meaningful and useful that gives
3096s you something to do something to work
3097s towards but then has an ongoing
3099s relevance so we need to make sure
3100s there's new consumables to create and
3102s sell um the Masterwork weapon that you
3105s mentioned is quite relevant so that will
3107s be a new topend weapon but it won't be
3109s making it's quite we'll go into more
3111s detail in the future about how it's
3112s going to work but that won't be making
3114s existing best and Slot items redundant
3116s but it will be something that you'll
3117s want to have probably um the Yeah It's
3122s tricky to talk about that getting into
3123s the balancing so we we do want to make
3124s sure that the skills sort of are
3126s relevant at top end and stay relevant at
3127s top end so something to do on launch but
3129s then an ongoing relevance within the
3131s economy that's important that's awesome
3133s because I know that especially when
3135s speaking to the community throughout
3136s Fort front 3 it was like building stuff
3138s was really cool for example like being
3139s at 80 construction it's like this is
3140s awesome I can finally build the chapel
3142s and I can upgrade it to this tier but
3145s then it kind of is like
3147s anything to produce I can't I can't go
3149s any further with this so us being able
3151s to produce stuff that's aspirational and
3154s pushing you to reach those levels and
3156s then giving you something for it and
3158s giving you a resource and get getting
3160s everything moving is is really cool
3161s that's a very very promising opportunity
3164s and going on what you alluded to we have
3166s some plans on how we're going to talk to
3167s players about this right we're going to
3169s try and so I've been a little vague
3171s about about what we're talking about
3173s here um we'll be doing a Blog and a live
3176s stream either next week or the week
3178s after yeah to go into more detail about
3180s what this update actually is in in more
3182s detail and get feedback on that so I I

3573s to talk law and seasonal events I got it

3578s to give some first details are mod Luma

3586s about the first thing just in case it's
3588s not really clear it might seem like an
3589s obvious question but in the road map we
3591s use this kind of new term story Quest
3594s kind of sounds obvious but it means
3595s something specific to us can you just be
3597s really clear what is a story Quest so a
3599s story Quest is just a proper Quest that
3601s ties into the story line so we there was
3603s a bit of confusion last year about there
3604s were some mini quests that were sort of
3606s presented as quests there are seasonal
3608s quests that are presented as quests so
3609s we just want to make sure that when we
3611s say story Quest we mean a quest tied
3613s into the story line something like hent
3614s o yeah so yeah so something that kind of
3616s brings us forward that keeps the story
3618s line moving forward okay cool really
3619s really cool um so um we've talked
3622s obviously in that road map there's two
3623s quests planned is that correct and then
3625s we've got a few more outside of that
3627s coming in seasonal events too is that
3629s right yeah so so so committing to story
3631s quests doesn't then mean we can't also
3633s have many quests into content or
3635s seasonal quests that sort of thing it's
3636s just that isn't a sort of major road map
3639s thing there can also be other things on
3640s top of them yeah so I I let's talk about
3642s story Quest very quickly obviously it's
3644s really hard to talk about quests and Law
3646s Without like spoiling everything it's
3648s always the trouble we have we try and
3649s show these lovely quests on streams
3651s without ruining them it's a delicate
3653s balance but I think briefly Rec for a
3656s dragon obiously hopefully a lot of you
3657s loved it I certainly did um we talked
3660s about that ending the for frree story
3662s line uh as well as having the cutest
3665s Undead fory moment of my life um can you
3667s give an indication of the kind of
3669s storyline we're headed into or are we
3671s still in the story what what's going on
3673s yes so it's it's a bit of a misnomer to
3674s say that it ended the story line the for
3677s me the story line has a relatively
3678s objective definition of when when it
3680s doesn't have the same requirements it's
3682s a new story line so because it will be
3684s continuing with the same requirements
3685s the next question will require Rec for a
3687s dragon it's part of the same story line
3689s so you know you're still you more like a
3691s new chapter then exactly yeah it's like
3693s the next PA whole new story stream yeah
3698s we just we've we've set him up we've
3700s given them a platform now don't ask me
3701s an open-ended question we just need the
3702s boiler in the background on the screen
3704s behind him authentic design stream
3705s experience I guess just an open question
3707s is there anything you want to say about
3709s kind of our thoughts about the future I
3710s know we don't really want to spoil any
3711s story and that would be unfair to all
3712s the law fans watching but is there
3714s anything around the quest specifically
3715s that you'd like I mean it's kind of
3717s implied it's implied from from the
3719s content that we've launched and it's
3720s implied on the picture of the road map
3721s you know Bill is still there we're going
3723s to be looking more at his plans and
3724s where he's going um but I don't really
3726s want to talk about it in detail and I
3728s hear there might be a time to the
3729s Skilling boss and is that a current
3732s thought yeah so the the the first Quest
3735s will will tie together sanum of rebirth
3738s um and the Skilling boss and the story l
3740s oh so is the SK boss also in San of
3742s rebirth is what you're saying just not
3744s in that piece of content he's saying too
3746s much
3748s there you go everybody we talked about
3750s not spoiling your experience Okay cool
3751s so that's good just wanted to make sure
3753s we talk about this I know there's a lot
3755s of questers out there who want to see
3757s the story line continue and it's a very
3758s difficult topic for us to approach but
3760s an important one I think yeah we we
3762s always want to we want to show that
3764s quests and law is and and the narrative
3767s is still so important to us and it's
3769s such a fundamental part of what
3770s RuneScape is but also we know that we
3772s don't want to just drop spoilers and
3774s just be like here's what the story is
3775s and here's how it ends because that
3778s experience day one of seeing people in
3780s the official Discord in the law channels
3782s being like Oh my God and then in the
3783s different Community spaces reacting to
3785s stuff is so important and such a such a
3787s magical moment like so many of the
3789s quests that that have come out that
3791s we've seen that day one experience has
3793s been so important we don't want to we
3795s don't want to put too much out there at
3796s the beginning and spoil it so we just
3797s want to make sure that there's a balance
3799s there that we bring people along for the
3800s journey um so yeah when don't we talk
3802s about season quests you want to ask some
3804s questions on the season Quest don't get
3805s me start on Halloween it's over sorry
3807s seasonal Quest seasonal events seasonal
3809s events yes so there was there was a lot
3811s of feedback when we initially broed the
3814s subject of having a new seasonal summer
3817s Hub and then we've kind of had to make
3818s those adjustments because we heard your
3820s feedback it was super important that we
3821s made sure that we took that on board
3823s there was a lot of concern that we would
3824s also be listening to feedback and
3827s canceling Halloween as well I was one of
3830s those people um I am among the many to
3833s see that it is still in there I am
3835s overjoyed now with Halloweeny colors

3845s throw this question out there is it a
3847s brand new event and are we still taking
3848s that feedback on board about the balance
3850s between time limited but recurring
3853s annual content and permanent content
3856s what's the sort of are we are we trying
3857s to make sure that we strike a balance
3860s yeah for sure um we want to make sure we
3862s have a healthy balance of you know that
3863s permanent content in game but not
3865s forgetting about season events and
3867s leaving them behind um so obviously we
3869s heard that and we took that on board
3871s with the The Summer Event um so we we
3874s are reactivating the beach with some
3877s small quality of life changes but not
3879s like a huge summer new summer Hub which
3881s was originally planned um I think it's
3885s also worth mentioning as well setting up
3887s the new hubs as we've done with
3888s Christmas as we've done with Easter as
3890s we will be doing with Halloween that's a
3893s huge bulk of the work done and once
3896s that's done it will take left less Dev
3897s work in future years to add new content
3900s to it and that's I think that's a lot of
3902s why we saw that's why when you look at
3905s the road map for December or winter I
3907s should say I don't want to say December
3909s winter we've got the the story Quest and
3913s the Hub at the same time because we can
3915s have seasonal Quest the seasonal Quest
3916s within the Hub so there's kind of two
3918s quests coming up very very quickly in in
3921s short succession because we don't have
3923s to be like we have to make a new Hub
3925s what are we don't have to worry about
3926s that it's already done already the
3928s hassle of that is over so now we can
3930s just plug new stuff in expand on iterate
3932s on it make changes that doesn't mean
3933s we're not going to give something like
3935s Christmas love though right there is
3936s going to can you give us an indication
3938s of like what that would be for like one
3940s of the returning hubs yeah I guess
3942s Christmas being our first so yeah
3944s Christmas uh Village 2024 this year as
3947s it as as it will be called right 2024
3949s cool um yeah it'll be the first Hub
3951s that's returning so it will mean that
3954s all the activities you had that there
3956s will be there including returning of the
3959s the the black party hat so more
3961s opportunities to to rearn that I hope I
3964s was allowed to say that um but then you
3967s know like if you didn't get to play it's
3969s no bother last year you'll be able to
3970s come and then replay that quest uh it
3973s will only be active for that period
3974s while the Christmas Village is active if
3977s we we we are doing another Quest so
3979s another Quest will take place in in this
3981s Hub So the plan for the hubs was to okay
3983s cool set up an area make it beautiful
3986s make it like really magical really
3988s harking back to the original sort of
3991s holiday events we had we called it
3993s corporate corporate Christmas and like
3996s what we mean by that is like you want to
3997s be walking out of tesos right you see
3999s your red your Santa all your stuff this
4002s was this was the sales pitch for it
4003s other supermarkets are available yeah
4005s other super no branding um but like you
4008s you know you want to jump into the game
4010s and everything you've seen around you is
4012s is is is what you're experiencing in
4014s real life um so it'll be returning and
4017s then like the plan was to push the hubs
4018s sort of outward so like you you may have
4020s a stream up there or some Woodland and
4023s if we need to sort of dig into that for
4024s some area for request we'll be able to
4026s do that um but as as Luma said the bulk
4029s of the work is done with the environment
4031s it's now we'll be able to cuz like when
4034s whenever we did holiday events so much
4037s effort like if you think about like the
4038s Halloween ones from 2011 Weber Shadows 2
4044s around that point um Wast of like
4046s resource like we didn't bring them back
4048s so the amount of our effort and resource
4050s and animations that went into that don't
4052s get to see the light of day again so
4054s it's
4055s about making something that has a return
4059s on investment and will return sort of
4062s constantly so yeah everything you saw at
4064s Last Christmas coming back plus more I'm
4067s I'm sold um it is early it is a bit
4070s early doors to talk about this but it's
4072s never too early for me cuz it's I've
4074s been thinking about it since oh November
4076s first what kind of ideas have we got
4078s bouncing around for a Halloween event
4081s ooh we know it's the right color of
4083s orange yeah but outside of that what
4086s what else what else is on the cards I me
4087s it's worth saying work hasn't started on
4089s it yet and we're also not the team who
4091s will be working on it um but but you
4094s know there your chance still as with
4096s Easter and Christmas we've obviously
4098s wanted to be like quintessential
4100s Halloween your pumpkins your skeletons
4102s your classic characters like death and
4104s muncha um continuing to be set in
4107s renmark so obviously Christmas was the
4109s Land of Snow Easter was the land of
4111s Glade so Halloween land of I think it's
4113s called Harvest um and yeah reintroducing
4117s things I think from from old events will
4119s probably be looked to obviously there's
4121s quite a few good Halloween locations
4122s there you've got death's Mansion you've
4124s got um the spider realm you've got the
4126s death conon Citadel I know people fans
4128s of so I think just looking to Old events
4131s and taking ideas from them um well also
4134s keeping it quintessential Hall
4136s there's a lot there to work with a lot
4138s lots of people very very excited about
4140s this project internally yeah people like
4143s everyone's sort of desperate to work on
4146s Halloween I know that mod black witch
4148s and mod Alex and a couple of the other
4150s environment art team were like okay we
4152s are actually going to fight to try and
4154s figure out who gets to do the event to
4156s have a live stream pitch B and they're
4157s having to like divy up C for all of the
4160s different environments for like all of
4162s the stuff on the on the road map being
4163s like okay I really want to do Halloween
4165s so I'll give you this and then you give
4167s me Halloween and they've been bartering
4169s over it and so you know it's going to be
4171s good when they're that desperate to get
4173s involved with it it's so exciting I
4175s guess just one question for me like I
4177s hope everyone looks out a road map and
4178s thinks well that's quite a lot coming
4179s out in a you know six odd month period I
4182s would certainly hope so do we expect
4183s Halloween to be similar in scale to
4185s Easter or Christmas do we even know that
4186s question yet are we maybe thinking of it
4188s being a bit
4189s smaller do do we have any indication at
4191s this point of kind of how it might sit
4193s against the other two events I'd say a
4195s bit more similar to Christmas um Easter
4198s was was quite big Easter went nuts with
4201s the Hub like it's beautiful yeah it's
4203s absolutely stunning and like there's
4205s that room to expand but um yeah it it'll
4208s be sort it either sit where Christmas at
4211s or in between the two um we we want to
4214s make sure that we're not like making a
4217s really sparse place where you it you you
4220s don't want to make a place and and fill
4222s it with content you want to make content
4223s and then like slot it nicely in into the
4226s Hub and then let's expand in the future
4228s mhm yeah I think that was one of the
4230s things that I even as someone who isn't
4232s the most Jolly or festive of christmy
4234s people walking around the Christmas Hub
4237s and just seeing the amount of people
4238s condensed in that space with so many
4240s different things to do I was like oh
4241s this is really nice but then with Easter
4243s it was like lovely and expansive how can
4245s you say you're not Jolly or Christmasy
4247s enough is it cuz you wear all black look
4249s at me no I me if that was the case like
4251s mod black wi still has a Christmas tree
4252s up so yeah it's still up it's not rules
4255s still dying it's very goth it's very
4256s goth that is um one last quick question
4260s about events cuz I know people in chat
4263s have already mentioned it I know people
4264s have been talking about this for ages as
4266s soon as we were like it's the beach two
4269s words dung hole question mark no I'm
4273s kidding it's not gone it's still there
4274s is totally still there um yeah dhole of
4278s course it's still there um I don't know
4280s if we could survive releasing the beach
4282s without anymore yeah it used to not be
4284s every year right in the beach and then
4285s it became like a permanent fixture we
4287s did we did
4289s suggest a Skilling goal that you had to
4293s dig the hole yourself it was a community
4296s goal that we were like okay you want it
4298s you have to earn it you have to dig the
4300s hole yourself and then you unlock it but
4303s so tldr demon home is going to look
4305s beautiful but then you're going to be
4307s jumping into a dung engineering hole to
4309s train that's classic RuneScape right so
4312s good um well thank you very much
4314s obviously it's I wish we could do more
4316s of a service to the law and the seasonal
4318s events team uh the amount of work and
4321s love and care that goes into this part
4322s that we can't often give you half as
4324s much details Ora and kind of lead you
4325s into what's going on uh is always a bit
4327s frustrating for us but thank you very
4329s much for representing it and at least
4331s talking as much as we can about these
4333s things and I'm excited to see very much
4334s about what Halloween's going to look

4358s last year we began involving the
4360s community more into what we do when it
4362s comes to development and this year we've
4364s been setting up to take that even
4366s further so let's take a look at how you
4368s can play an active part in the
4369s development of our future content
4370s beginning as early as next
4373s week so um I said beginning as early as
4376s next week I meant this week so at the
4378s end of this show right on runescape.com
4381s the 2024 player survey will be released
4383s now I know some of you before have felt
4385s like oh I'm not sure if the quarterly
4386s surveys have much impact they are really
4388s important to us I can't stress that
4391s enough and I just want to touch on that
4392s and just say uh it's a really really
4396s important uh thing to to fill out for us
4398s but this one especially and I'll let mod
4400s Doom kind of talk a little bit about why
4402s that is yes I mean I can personally
4404s attest to how important those surveys
4405s are
4406s um mod bam uh who looks who who is is is
4410s uh mod hul manager constantly sites
4414s those surveys all the time they are such
4416s a crucial part of informing how we
4417s progress so this is the next step in
4420s that um this is this is bigger this is
4422s beyond this is 2025 um I know what
4425s you're thinking holy zamak what is he on
4427s about we have literally just been
4429s looking at 2024 we cannot be going that
4431s far ahead but all right part of our
4433s vision isn't just the planned content
4436s it it's making sure that the stuff that
4439s we aren't even showing you yet beyond
4441s that is informed by you as well we want
4443s to make sure that we're better informed
4445s making smarter decisions um we've got
4448s that we've got that survey in place that
4450s we want you to get involved with um
4452s we've been using them to really get a
4454s crucial understanding of how you're
4455s feeling right now especially
4457s retrospectively about the last three
4458s months that's been super important but
4460s this is distinct and different in that
4463s you're going to be taking a key part in
4465s potential directions we've identified
4467s nothing concrete this isn't we're just
4470s we're being like yes no on something
4471s it's not like that but we want you to
4474s help us understand the kind of ways
4476s you're leaning and helping us shape our
4478s final 2025 road map I can't believe I'm
4480s saying that right now 2025 road map but
4483s it's going to be playing a crucial part
4485s in that um you'll be influencing very
4488s early design decisions rather than
4491s granular concrete stuff I want to be
4493s very clear that this is sort of we're
4495s looking slightly more themes and
4497s directions them and dire yes so it's
4499s it's it's a very useful informative
4501s resource for us to be able to sit down
4503s and look at and say okay this is the
4504s kind of thing we're going for rather
4506s than this is do this because it w top
4511s billing on the server or anything like
4512s that so we we really want you to get
4514s involved in that and it mean would mean
4516s the world to me personally if you guys
4518s all got involved in it please now now
4520s you got to do it clearly no look um the
4523s the 2025 road map is something we're
4524s already think about we already have some
4527s really clear ideas on where we want to
4528s go this is about adding your voice to
4530s that process giving us indications and
4531s directions to build a road map that is
4534s essentially more better informed by you
4536s um whilst kind of taking that kind of
4538s design inspiration and uh excitement
4540s that this team can bring so we're really
4542s excited to see that it will also have a
4544s little bit of influence on what we're
4545s doing and what we've announced today on
4546s 2024 so it's a really cool way to add
4548s your voice to that process um so beyond
4552s that um we talked about this a little
4554s bit at the top of the show um we're
4555s going to be doing a Discord stage so if
4556s you don't know what that is it's kind of
4558s like a live podcast on Discord uh where
4560s you can come and contribute questions in
4562s a chat uh and influence the discussion
4564s of the show I'm going to be sitting down
4565s with M Marcos who you heard at the top
4567s of the show um and this is going to be
4569s to give you a behind the scenes of
4571s what's been going up the studio how did
4572s we get to this point of being able to
4573s announce this road map maybe even go
4575s into a little bit of some of the
4576s challenges we've faced and maybe a
4578s little bit of reasoning behind uh some
4580s of our lack of communication in areas
4581s let's be very upfront um but we're
4584s really excited to talk to you about that
4585s we want to for those of you who are
4586s interested in it we do want to provide
4588s you more insight and reason into what's
4589s been going up the studio um and how
4591s we've been Ving for the future um so I'm
4592s really excited to do that and hopefully
4594s kind of be more transparent and open
4595s with all of you um there's also a couple
4598s things on the content front coming up as

4602s the sanct of rebirth o not actually

4631s keeping the development discussions

4635s stream talking about Skilling updates
4637s focusing on how we feel is best for us
4640s to bring the content to existing skills
4643s um with other topics as well we'll be
4645s joined by mod Jack and we are super
4648s excited to involve you early on with
4649s this one so it's gonna be a really
4651s really cool time it's also worth
4653s mentioning some of these dates we may
4654s shift slightly forward especially that
4657s Skilling update one we're thinking like
4658s osus is coming out that day we kind of
4660s want to give it moment Sun but this is
4662s just to give you a general indication is
4663s we want this conversation to keep going
4665s this this is just the start of that and
4667s it's something that we want to put
4667s concerted effort into first with these
4670s kind of more immediate updates coming in
4671s July and August um and then obviously or
4674s at least our targets and then kind of
4676s looking beyond that we'll we'll look at
4677s where we go afterwards and how we have
4679s the conversations about things like the
4681s Skilling boss for example and uh maybe
4683s even Quest who knows but we're always
4685s going to be thinking about how we can
4686s talk about our content earlier and bring
4688s you into that discussion so on that note
