if anyone was looking for arrow production patches, Mod Stu gave us an update on them yesterday here. Partially pasted below for y'all, its to be released next Monday the 16th

Here's the patch notes for the Plan A release, so you know what's coming in the future:

Buffed supply of resonant anima now that it has sinks, particularly from the lowest supply (Bik, Wen)

  1. Amounts of resonant anima earned from the following sources has been increased:

-Kerapac (normal and hard mode)

-TzKal-Zuk and his underlings (normal and hard mode)

-Croesus

-Arch Glacor (normal mode)

-Nodon, siege cannons, glacytes, glacors and TzekHaar

-Senntisten graveyard skilling

2) Resonant anima of Wen can now be earned through Arch Glacor hard mode loot streaks

We've got some other goodies on the way too. eg augmented tinderbox XP from the Firemaking eggtivities (in Monday's release build), crystal knife bonus affecting carestyling (same status as the resonant anima supply buffs, awaiting copy to a future release build).

*Hopefully* next Monday the 16th. That's assuming the release team has capacity to copy it to a release build and if so it passes release candidate testing of the course of the week.

Thank you for moving this to the latest sticky! :)

The remainder of the May skilling update's post-release fixes are also implemented and in the pipe. (Mod Abe and I are moving onto our next project from today.)

how are there no buffs to arrow production lmfao

A buff to the supply of resonant anima, particularly Bik and Wen, was implemented and QA tested last week. But each patch needs to be re-tested in the release candidate by Friday, and so the cut-off for additional patches is usually Wed/Thu.

Due to a British public holiday on Monday we released on a Tuesday last week, we had a narrower window for post-release fixes than usual (by the time we discussed buffs with players on the Wednesday afternoon livestream, we were probably already past the RC cutoff), so anima buffs didn't make it into today's build. Plus we wanted to ensure the buffs were properly reviewed and considered rather than rushing them out, as it's a drop table buff to quite a lot of bosses and their minions.

I'd say about half the post release improvements we made to the May skilling update released this week, and as the implementation's done, the rest should trickle through the release process in subsequent game updates.

Also just want to say I really enjoyed last week's update so thank you to you and Mod Abe and anyone else responsible for bringing these cute baby Dinos into existence! Have a good week :)

and arrows stay the same XD

The Prehistoric Potterington's Accidental Fletching & Firemaking yaddayadda fixes in today's patches are those that we implemented on Tuesday and Wednesday last week. There's more coming that we implemented on the Thursday and Friday, including some significant buffs to the supply of resonant anima, but they didn't make the cut-off for copy into today's release build.

Implemented, reviewed, QA tested, and in the queue for copy to a future release build:

To quote the rswiki, the Pyromaniac perk "has a 0.1% chance per rank to burn all of the logs of the same type in your inventory at once when adding logs to a bonfire".

That description doesn't fit the actions performed in this skilling area. Seggregration/Carestyling/Eggsperimentation are a deviation from the normal Woodcutting->Firemaking paradigm for which those perks are intended.

Will the crystal Knife still degrade at the same rate it currently does for the Carestyling? If it does, I can't see it being used much if you would need to run back to prif every 5 mins to use it

I see your point, but yes, the bonus from the crystal knife and therefore the degradation (the minimum of 1 charge) is the same as elsewhere.

Since the crystal knife change isn't yet live, when I get back from a lunchtime doctor's appointment, I'll check if it's been copied to RC. If it hasn't, I'll re-open and make a tweak so the crystal knife has a random chance to degrade.

If you have an opinion on the crystal knife's degrade chance, now's the time to have one. ;)

How is the Anima of wen during hard mode streaks implemented?

If it just replaces the common drop and the value of the Anima stays low, would kind of lower gp/h of streaking.

I'm assuming it has some other different implementation?

Here's Mod Abe's reply about how he implemented the resonant anima of Wen buff.

I hope it adequately addresses your concerns. :)

Just to copy what I said in the other thread for visibility:

"I've actually added it as a guaranteed secondary drop, so it should always be an addition that comes at the cost of nothing else. There is a couple of reasons for this:

  1. All other bosses in EGW guarantee a certain amount of anima dropped on each kill as standard as a secondary drop that doesn't impact the other drops.

  2. It made it much easier to fit into the dark sorcery of the streak drop system."

That's great to hear. Will the same happen with elder troves which always drop every 6 mins? HM AG also currently does not drop those, so it would be a nice secondary update to include in that.

I'm afraid with limited time available to me I was laser focused on just getting more anima into the game, so no troves this time.

It's worth saying: adding things to the loot table of a boss with the streak mechanic is not trivial, and the added complication of the timer on the troves would probably make this a tricky change.

Would it be possible to allow players to bladed dive while wielding a crystal tinderbox? It's great that it works for Eggspirimentation now, but I'm sad I can no longer bladed dive...

Sorry, no. We've had to move onto our next project now. The time for post-release fixes to be implemented was last week.

Hey Mod Stu or Abe if your listening can you change the token exp back to farming? When it was farming you could trigger seren spirits but you can’t when it’s agility because agility is a support skill.

I've reopened the crystal knife JIRA to add a 50% degradation chance when carestyling, and also changed the trough token XP back from Agility to Farming.

The crystal knife'll need to be re-tested, so I can only hope these manage to make it into the next game update.

To the players that requested we change the token XP from Farming to Agility: I hope Zamorak bites your toes while you sleep.

Heya Stu, a few questions about the update if I may:

  • Is it intentional that the strange egg be so rare? I've gained like 5m fm xp here, plus a number of hours of just destroying eggs, with no luck.

Thanks again for your hard work Stu, hope you have a great week.

-Raf

E: Finally, my obligatory request once again for a FC broadcast option, akin to that which exists for friends and clans.

Sorry, the strange egg's drop rate is eggsessive, even eggregious, but eggsactly as intended.

Not my fault! It's Mod Abe's Easter egg and he wanted it to be this rare. (I've egreed not to tell you the drop rate - he prefers you to remain eggnorant, and it would only eggsacerbate your frustration).

I hope you have a good week too. I imagine when you eventually get a strange egg, you'll be eggstatic (or possibly eggrevated, eggsausted and eggsasperated).

Actually, I have eggsactly one more question: is there anything that would lead to an increase in drop rate for the strange egg? I've tried eggerything, including having the mysterious egg pet out, having a regular egg in my inventory, hunting during the roar period, eggtc. I even tried having a frying pan (both weapon and artefact) with me, in case it helped me. But so far no luck, strange goose egg, if you will.

Great inventive modifiers! According to what Mod Abe told me, it's just a random roll, nothing eggstra that can egg you on.

The question is, can either of us trust him?

Will the creation speed of the god arrows be increased as well? They're really slow compared to enchanting bolts.

That's currently intentional in order for the skillers-feed-killers economy of the arrows to work.

The aim was to add an evergreen high-level moneymaking method for non-bossers.

Which means to a large extent, the skiller is selling their time spent to make the arrows, and the PvMer is paying for the convenience of spending that time bossing.

I'm surprised the imbuing speed needs to be this slow in order to accomplish that balance, but it's currently in line with the balancing council's intent.

We're going to monitor the supply and demand, and buffing the creation speed is one of the levers we could pull in the future if the ratio makes it not worth the effort on either side of the equation.

So far the demand's been high (and should only get higher when a T95 bow unlocks the full capability of elder god arrows in the future).

So we're first pulling levers on the side of buffing resonant anima supply now that it has a sink, and to keep the majority of the effort on the skilling side.

Hm. Alright.

Skillers have benefited from making bak bolts for a while no doubt.

I do need to ask though, do you think ammo really needs to be consumed with every arrow? Aside from Wen and Bik at max charges, the god arrows will be using an arrow with every ability. Bolts for the most part don't do that. It's a bit of weird balancing. For the mean time to keep profits decent, it's okay. In the long run I don't know if that's healthy for rangers to be spending so much per hour on just ammo unless that was intended.

Cheers.

The tricky thing is that supply of bakriminel bolts is throttled by the six hour regrow of bloodwood trees, while the limiting factor in supply of elder god arrows is the time for someone to gather, fletch and imbue them. One could see it as comparing orange bolts to apple arrows.

It's also a space where other T95 arrows exist (albeit capped at T92 by equipment for now), which lends additional differentiating elder god effects to be situational rather than for constant default use.

We're monitoring the consumption rate, and will tune it if necessary. Currently in conjunction with secondary uses for components, it's central to maintaining demand to meet the supply, though.

Incidentally, I'm happy to report that buffs to sources of resonant anima (to roughly equalise them) just passed Release Candidate QA, so all going well are awaiting deployment in the next Monday update.

Two weeks of afk grinding, and I got the strange egg! In that time, I have literally graduated from university and moved houses! Was it worth it? Probably not. Am I still thrilled that I got it? Hell yeah!

E: Deleting my minor complaint, as I see it does get unlocked in the transmog interface! So basically perfect (although it would be hilarious if you could move around while transmoged, hint hint).

Congratulations! Well done.
