Update: I, alongside 2 other people, saw the same phishing link and decided to post it to warn people about it to minimize its damage. My post got around 60 upvotes, and the other people's posts have gotten around 40-50, however within a few minutes the posts have gone back down to 0. Something needs to be done ASAP as this means less people will see it. How can we spread the word about this? Will tag a Jmod to get something done about that phishing link asap
The posts warning people no longer show up in hot, meaning people will no longer see it. I decided to downvote my post when it hit 0 and re-upvoted it after (which boosted it back up to 2) only for it to quite literally instantaniously drop back to 0. This means it won't show up in hot or best posts which means barely anyone would see it.
Edit: For proof, at the time of the edit, if you sort the sub by controversial within the last 24 hours, the first three post that show up are about this scam. I personally didn't take a screenshot of when it had more upvotes, but if you look at the comments every comment in there has upvotes and everything was fairly well recieved by each other, so they all have upvotes. Those weren't mass downvoted at least, so although it isn't proof that our posts had gotten some traction, I guess it helps prove it a bit.
Edit 2: Thank you everyone, I'm happy this phisher didn't manage to shut me up. I refused to let this just happen. Ironically enough, him downvoting my post has made the whole thing grow even more! The original post has seemed to gain all the upvotes back, although at this point I'm not sure it's still gettings views from the "hot" section. Regardless, I'm very happy we didn't lose to whoever this prick is. This really does bring a smile to my face, we beat him :) For now at least
Edit 3: Reported the domain as a phishing site. Now we wait to have it taken down!
