I just had all my ships come back (they have lifeboats unlocked prior to going out) and now all the life boats are gone on every ship.
I'm assuming a bug since this would be a huge gameplay mechanic change if it was intentional.

Just as a follow up to this - we've confirmed it's a bug and not intentional. The team are working on a fix. As soon as we have news on when we can roll the fix out (ie. if it's hotfixable or needs to come in our next Game Update etc), we'll let you know.
Thanks Hooli, do you know if the fix will be able to give us back the boats we lost? The fact they are consumable now is honestly only half the issue. Even if you fix them so they aren’t consumed anymore this has still wiped out ages of grind because of how long it takes to get the boats in the first place.

Hey everyone. The team have been continuing to work on this issue and we hope to share more soon.
As we mentioned yesterday, it's not technically possible for us to return any life boats lost due to the bug. However, right now, we are looking into anything we can do to make reacquiring them easier or simple in some manner.
Apologies for the vagueness, but this really is very early days on assessing what's possible. This is completely subject to investigation and we still can't make any guarantees at this stage - but the team are thinking about it and taking your feedback on board.

Just to be clear, it's not about not wanting to reimburse you with life boats - it's about what we can do technically in this situation with the lost life boats. The desire is absolutely there.
