For those not watching the Stream, The new Boss of the Glacor Front, the Arc-Glacor uses are new Mechanic Strategy that's never before been seen in Runescape.

The Ability to turn off/Tailor the bosses Mechanics to your preference.

Essentially, there are 6 main Mechanics, 5 that can be turned off, 1 that can't. But you get to PICK which ones you turn on or off.

The Stated Goal of this Boss is to act as a "Introduction" to different Core Mechanics of PvM Bosses. Things like Telegraphing, Prayer Flicking and Weapon/Perk swapping, and Add Management.

What this results in is a Boss who's Difficulty can vary between (in the Mods words) weaker than KBD to one of the most Mechanic heavy and difficult fights in the game. With obviously increasing rewards the Harder and more Mechanics you Pick to deal with.

THIS IS AMAZING.

This is something Runescape has NEEDED for Years.

One of the biggest complaints/Reasons People have been giving for not getting into PvM is that to learn different mechanics often takes throwing your face into a dozen different Mechanics at once when you keep only really failing to one.

This Boss now gives people a chance to learn some more basic and Core Mechanics found between Multiple bosses, at a Player's own pace and Focus.

Want to just learn how to Prayer Flick. Turn off the other mechanics and practice on a pretty easy fight where you can learn what you need to.

Want to learn how to do proper Defensive Ability Swapping? Only turn on that one and learn your timing.

Want a Really Hard fight with great Rewards where you've got to put all of the skills your learned in easier modes to the test? Go Right ahead!

I LOVE THIS IDEA and I'm really Excited about this.

Like really, really excited.

The fact they made prayer-swapping a part of the fight after how much we explained why we hate it, and how naff of a mechanic it is after Raksha actually irritates me.

I am genuinely somewhat un-hyped for the release just knowing that prayer-flicking is going to be part of this. Not because I "can't" do it (I have the Raksha log completed). Not because I need to learn how to prayer-flick.

But because prayer-flicking is a Pre-EoC mechanic that feels like crap in modern EoC and should have been removed except as a sole mechanic (like Jad) in small bursts in some bosses.

If the "prayer flicking" were a "phase" where it forces you to prayer-swap for say 5 attacks while no other mechanics happen, then sure, I can accept that. But constant, Raksha-style prayer-flicking legitimately makes me feel like the collection log will be a grinding slog rather than something I'll enjoy.

Which is a shame, because the idea of a tutorial boss is really good.

It's just a phase (mom).

Prayer flicking is for only a small portion of this encounter :)
