475s to start daughter of chaos is the
477s perfect jumping on point for the story
479s daughter of chaos focuses on moya one of
481s bullrock's lieutenants who has been
483s attacking humans near the border of miss
485s halen address they abuse her as the
486s biggest threat at this point so she asks
488s you to travel to the wilderness track
490s her down and stop her as basilisa it is
494s my responsibility to safeguard the human
496s kingdoms and maintain their alliance as
499s you're working with addresses agents
500s track down moya you'll come across
502s traces of moya's memories through these
504s traces you'll be able to see flashbacks
506s of recent events from moya's perspective
508s there's some awesome gameplay segments
510s where you get to play as moya in a
511s parallel story arc fighting in the civil

514s as moira you'll also get to have some
516s cool interactions with other characters
517s you wouldn't normally get to experience
520s the daughter of chaos quest is the
522s beginning of a brand new period in
523s gilenwood's history what lies ahead is a
526s brave new world whose fate is in the

536s back but this time not from pvp
543s for the legacy of zamorak storyline we
545s are modernising wilderness graphics and
547s gameplay by making pvp optional as well

551s challenges after looking at npcs and
554s content currently available it became
556s very clear that without pvp there is no
558s real danger with that in mind we will be
560s looking to up the ante with a reworked
562s mandrel slayer master and a load more
564s challenging npcs that he can assign
567s should you wish to engage in this slayer
569s method you will be rewarded for doing so
571s particularly with a brand new wilderness
573s slayer drop table it's worth mentioning
575s that all npcs will be aggressive
577s multi-way combat and not lose aggression
579s towards you regardless of how long
580s you've been fighting so you can ensure
582s that no corner of the wilderness will be
583s truly safe
585s along with the new pvm gameplay changes
587s we're also improving the in-game visuals
590s this will not only set the scene for the
591s legacy of zamarak storyline but will act

637s covering everything you just saw in that
639s video in much more detail we've got more

645s plenty with developers who bring it to
647s life and on top of all that we're going
648s to give you some live looks at
650s everything from xamaric boss rewards all
652s the way through to the wilderness reborn

657s shout out to legend arts who gave us
658s that amazing piece of art too and you

672s the zamaraki and undercity which is the
674s new elite dungeon and in then to the
676s arena where you're going to face down
677s zamarak we'll be giving you a live
679s in-game look at the brand new rewards as
681s i mentioned and that's all coming with
682s the lord of chaos update on july 4th
685s then we'll be taking a short check in
687s with the team behind daughters of chaos
689s our first quest in our return to a more
690s grounded classic narrative uh within the
692s fantasy world of runescape and we'll
694s also be uh running you for a new
696s seasonal reward and showing you some
698s beautiful making odds and then last but
700s definitely a lot least and i know a lot

756s us a quick introduction on uh legacy of
758s zamrak what do we mean when we say about
760s this new storyline um and what can
762s players expect from this
764s so legacy of zamarak is the is the
765s storyline for the next six months of
767s runescape running us taking us to the
768s end of the year it's kind of like a
770s two-part storyline it's dealing with
771s like first obviously the big the big
773s headliner is is the lord of chaos boss
775s fight and then and then the rest of the
776s storyline will be the consequences of
778s that i've seen quite a lot of people who
780s are like no it's definitely the plot
781s that we outlined in in in twilight the
784s gods isn't isn't going to happen it's
785s some massive mystery we're trying to get
787s away from like massive twists cuz so
789s that we can talk a little bit more
791s openly because i think actually like
792s weirdly law spoilers is disincentive for
794s talking about what's coming up so we are
796s going to be talking about the rest of
797s the storyline
798s um what are the consequences of the
799s events that occur during the boss fight
802s um so it's very much about that like
805s spoilers
806s for the content you've just done and
808s exactly what's going to happen because
810s we've said it's going to happen the gods
811s are gone what are the consequences of
812s the gods being you know what are the
814s consequences of the gods being done what
815s does that mean for the world um and and
817s legacy of zamarak as the title implies
819s is about like the most impactful um of
823s the gods of zamarak and what does that
824s mean
825s um so this is like um we want to we want
829s to try and organize our storyline
831s um
833s integrate the updates the story together
835s the bosses together um a little bit more
837s strongly you can see us doing that
838s without the god wars we learned a lot
840s from doing that that was our first
841s attempt at kind of integrating the year
843s of content together um this is this is
845s us continuing and learning from that um
847s we learned a lot from other god wars i
848s was thinking about this one thing i
850s would particularly point out is i think
851s we under estimated how popular our
852s characters zuck would be
854s uh so like that's an example of the kind
855s of thing that we're learning from like
857s zuck didn't so i'm not promising exact
859s content i just mean like we learned from
861s the way that we tell our story has
862s engaged people in a way that we didn't
864s quite expect um so this is this is uh
867s you know our next attempt to doing that
868s and then we'll build on that again in
869s 2023.
870s um it's a six month storyline and that's
872s not um
874s that's not like in that's not like all
876s storylines are going to be six months
878s this is this is like a short little
879s storyline you can almost think of it as
880s like a kind of extended epilogue this
882s boss fight um but that's not us saying
884s that all stories are gonna be six months
885s it'll depend on the on the content and
887s the length of the story and how long we
888s need to tell the story
890s um and i guess it's like it's the first
892s example of
894s like the kind of grounded storytelling
896s that we can tell in in the aftermath
898s odds the the with the gods there they
900s scream for attention they're really the
901s only characters that get any screen time
903s and we have to kind of force them out of
904s the way to let anyone else have some
906s limelight so this is us giving some
907s limelight to some other characters some
909s characters that we haven't really heard
910s from a while like say bill rack
913s um
914s so
915s sorry just
916s very quickly i want to ask you you know
918s for those watching like story line
920s narratively cool getting a six month
922s story line it's gonna really take things
924s forward to that grounded style of things
925s for those who are watching maybe
926s spacebar warriors or like you know the
928s law is of less interest to them um
931s quickly can you describe like what does
933s the storyline mean for those players and
935s what do we mean when we're talking about
936s the storyline as a so yeah
939s part part of the point of telling the
940s story like this is to go is that law
943s previously was very siloed into quest
946s lines it was like if you care about
947s gnome quests you do gnome quests and if
949s you don't care about gnome storyline it
951s has really no impact on the rest of the
952s game at all you might spacebar through
953s the quests and to to to unlock it for
956s comp and then and then you know
958s not really worry about it the idea of
959s this approach is to in is to engage the
962s entire game um not in deep lore story
965s that's still like questors and and quest
967s players but uh uh at just a surface
970s level like caring about who zuck is
971s zucky's caller because of his law right
973s he gets a shortcut scene he's a caller
975s boss he's part of the storyline people
977s can engage in the storyline in a in a in
980s a little way the content the underlying
982s content is essentially the same thing
984s like it's still runescape still
985s runescape content coming out the kind of
987s content you know skilling updates and
988s the combat updates and and the
989s miscellaneous updates that we know
990s people want but with that like with that
993s more together sense of like
996s just being part of the story of the game
998s that's going on now we hope that like
999s people can be engaged with that and i
1000s think that elder god was as i kind of
1002s mentioned like elder god was i think did
1004s that better than we expected it was kind
1005s of a gamble and actually we had people
1006s like people who weren't really engaged
1008s with the quests at all going like
1009s where's our zap content where's our zap
1010s content because actually that part of it
1012s had engaged them
1014s brilliant um okay we said we'd make this
1016s quick you probably saw me keeping an eye
1018s on the time looking right uh we said we
1020s could this make this quick so let's not

1071s centisten crawling with loyal
1073s zamorakians all of which have seen a
1075s fresh coat of pain we really wanted to
1077s expand what elite dungeon could be
1079s up to five players can head into the
1081s dungeon at once with a dungeon's
1082s difficulty scaling to your team size the
1085s only core boss is zamrak himself with a
1087s couple of mini bosses along the way
1090s the dungeon is made up of a few
1091s different environments all of them are
1093s really exciting i've always wanted to
1095s work on a more gothic dark environment
1097s the center standard city was constructed
1099s as an equal to the surface but gradually
1101s became poorer over time it used to be
1103s home to the demons of this erosion
1105s empire now however it has become a dark
1108s and disturbing labyrinth occupied by
1109s zamrakin demons cultists and witches
1112s with lots of different stories and
1113s details to uncover
1116s the dungeon uses an enraged system as
1119s the enrage level increases enemies life
1121s won't scale up and as you hit different
1123s thresholds enemies are going to change
1126s what started as a zamarakin cultist on
1127s previous runs might now be two greater
1129s demons if you prove yourself enough
1131s times you'll unlock the ability to
1133s bypass the dungeon allowing you to take
1135s on zamrack as many times as you want
1137s feel the rage of a god
1140s once you've made it through the dungeon
1142s you'll arrive at the true challenge the
1144s god zamarak himself of course zamarak
1148s can never be defeated by a mortal even a
1151s world guardian but with the power of the
1153s edicts of gothics you might have a
1155s chance to banish him players will be
1157s able to experience the boss battle in
1159s three different modes story mode is for
1161s the less experienced the combat
1163s difficulty is reduced but you can still
1165s earn some rewards normal mode is a step
1168s up from the elder god wars bosses in
1170s rage mode will test the limits of even
1173s the most elite players
1175s you never stood a chance
1178s you can take zamarakon as a brave lone
1180s warrior or battle him in groups of up to
1183s five
1183s the fight and the rewards will scale
1186s with the number of players
1188s zamarak is runescape's first group
1189s encounter to make use of our enrage
1191s system as you climb through the enraged
1193s levels new mechanics will keep you on
1195s your toes unlike his predecessors
1198s xamarix enrage doesn't cap at 4 000.

1219s new look we decided to build on his
1221s original iconic design but give him a
1224s shiny new model that's up to our current
1226s graphical standards he also has his
1227s wings back and with those of course come
1229s a variety of really cool new animations
1232s the wilderness crater has been given a
1233s complete graphical rework it's now a big
1236s epic arena fit for a god the giant
1239s gale's magical dome all around the arena
1241s takes the drama to a whole new level
1243s you will be destroyed
1246s what's the boss without rewards firstly
1248s we've got the new tier 95 bow the bar of
1250s the last guardian alongside this we also
1252s have a new four-piece melee armor set
1254s the vestments of havoc whilst those are
1256s the big hitters we've also got a range
1258s of smaller rewards that upgrades to
1259s sunshine and death swiftness we're also
1261s introducing demonic enchantments these
1264s are items crafted using demonic slivers
1265s found in the xamaric dungeon and once
1267s consumed offer upgraded effects to some
1269s slightly underwhelming gear in the game
1271s the zamrak lord of chaos elite dungeon
1273s and boss battle is the most challenging
1275s and epic boss encounter runescape has
1277s seen to date with opportunities for
1280s every player to enjoy the experience we

1308s yeah good rs i'm going to come to rs guy
1310s quickly because you might be like why is
1311s rs guy on here um well for those of you
1314s don't know uh rs guy came out to film a
1316s series we're working on together for a
1317s different project but while uh rs guy
1320s was here we actually took the
1321s opportunity to have him play test the
1323s boss fight and we're gonna talk to you a
1325s little bit more about that uh with the
1327s rs guy later in the show mod sponge
1329s gonna come straight to you on this
1330s because i'm sure there's a million
1331s questions going on in chat right now set
1334s the stage for us first if zamarak's in
1336s the wilderness why are we heading into
1338s the sentencing undercity when it comes
1340s to the new elite dungeon
1342s well just because we want to avoid him
1343s and just go do something else right um
1346s uh so following up from twilight the
1347s gods obviously xamarix hunkered down in
1349s the wilderness i think i said that he's
1351s got a basically an impenetrable barrier
1353s um so there's no chance of going through
1355s by normal means
1357s um alongside this uh you may have
1359s noticed that he's uh channeling a big
1362s portal that's summoning demons across
1364s illinois
1365s um
1366s so as the player uh shortly afterwards
1369s we get some intel that there's a more
1371s permanent portal that they're using to
1372s kind of build an army of demons
1374s um
1375s and this is set in the zamarakin
1378s undersea uh which was originally um
1382s kind of the
1383s area of centisten where the poor and
1385s depraved uh were housed
1387s um and has now been occupied by
1389s zamarakians um so our plan essentially
1392s is we're going to go through the portal
1395s to where he's summoning the demons and
1397s then go back out the way through his
1398s portal um so we're going to kind of take
1401s the back door and and meet him meet him
1403s at the uh the wilderness crater
1406s so you we had a few headlines kind of
1408s given to us in that in that video but
1410s now is kind of the real let's get into
1411s the details part now i think production
1414s magically i think we can dive into uh
1416s into the elite dungeon live is that
1418s right well i'm gonna find out if
1420s everything's ready it is perfect um so
1422s just in the background we're gonna have
1423s this uh black witch is also gonna talk
1425s to you a little bit about the design of
1426s the art so we're gonna slowly go through
1427s this um but let's just talk about the
1429s fundamentals so
1431s this is for for elite dungeon we've done
1433s it shares a lot of dna with the other
1434s three but there's also some major
1436s differences can you talk us through
1438s unique things about this dungeon
1439s experience
1441s yep so um as as we said uh a moment ago
1445s um we have
1446s kind of revamped the elite dungeon
1448s system um so that it now support this
1451s now supports up to five um the original
1453s elite dungeons are unchanged right now
1454s and this will be solo up to five players
1457s um unlike previous elite dungeons where
1461s they kind of essentially got easier the
1462s more players you had this won't
1463s necessarily um
1465s with the hps of mob scaling to your
1467s group size um if you're going in a five
1470s five man you're gonna have five times as
1472s much hp to get through
1474s um
1475s additionally story mode previously um
1478s wasn't really much of a mode it was
1480s literally
1481s just for the law um but now you can kind
1484s of go in and practice a bit more um and
1486s be rewarded for your time at the same
1487s time and so you will be able to get
1489s rewards from story mode um just at a
1491s reduced rate
1492s um and then of course we also have in
1494s rage mode um
1496s and
1497s this kind of does what it says on the
1498s tin as your enrage goes up the dungeon
1501s gets more difficult
1502s um with mobs changing
1505s hp scaling um and just generally getting
1508s more difficult um so as you go from
1510s rages you'll see
1512s the the entirety of the dungeon changes
1514s to the extent where you don't really
1516s know what you need to do to get through
1517s a gate um
1518s whereas obviously previous dungeons you
1520s kind of know the exact mobs you want to
1521s do you just go straight through
1523s um alongside that obviously previously
1526s dungeons have all been
1527s have all been three bosses this dungeon
1530s is actually
1531s one ma one main boss which is zamarak um
1534s but there are some mandatory mini bosses
1536s um and we did that just to to give
1538s zamarak the love and attention that he
1539s deserves and make sure he's like why is
1542s essentially the best the best the best
1544s he can be
1545s um
1547s alongside this um we know that dungeon
1549s running isn't for everyone
1551s um so we have added the option to skip
1554s the dungeon
1555s um how this works is uh once you reach a
1558s certain enrage
1560s or
1561s uh kill count
1562s um which is essentially full dungeon run
1565s kill count you'll be able to skip the
1567s boss skip the dungeon not get the door
1569s skip the dungeon
1571s um you go straight to the boss
1573s uh but how this works is
1575s um
1577s say a player
1578s does
1580s 100 normal mode runs um they then
1582s wouldn't be able to skip ten percent
1584s until they reach
1585s uh there's like a cut off where beyond
1587s that you can just skip and so there's no
1589s kind of cheese cheesing the system
1591s um and then
1593s also
1595s kind of unlike previous dungeons we've
1596s actually made the dungeon more rewarding
1598s um so that those players that do like
1600s dungeon grinding um will feel rewarded
1603s if they don't want to to skip it
1606s um and i think that that kind of route
1608s rounds it off really
1610s yeah and obviously we'll go be showing
1612s uh or talking about these rewards uh uh
1614s later in the segment as well for sure
1616s don't worry we're gonna get to those um
1618s i wanna ask you one quick question which
1620s is about you mentioned story mode is
1621s actually you're gonna be able to get um
1623s drops it
1625s for those who are maybe watching are
1626s like i don't usually do pvm content i i
1629s stay the hell away from it it's too
1630s scary intimidating for me how would you
1632s describe story mode in this and also
1635s you know is to be realistic with those
1637s players are they going to be expecting a
1638s lot of drops or is it going to be very
1639s rare like just talk us through that very
1641s quickly
1643s i'd say it's a it's a fair amount of
1645s drops in term of like common loot
1647s obviously uniques and stuff are going to
1649s be much much rarer
1652s but you shouldn't be dissuaded you can
1654s you can essentially get i think pretty
1656s much everything from story mode um
1658s obviously it's it's not going to be
1660s worth your time nearly as much as normal
1662s plus
1663s um
1665s but it's it's a lot more
1666s beginner-friendly um it has the normal
1668s story mode mods
1670s um that being said you probably can't go
1673s go in here on a brand new account
1674s because your stats aren't gonna
1676s you're just not gonna get through it
1678s um
1679s but no i think like i think it's it's
1682s pretty reasonable for all kinds of
1683s players to get through story mode at
1685s least
1687s awesome uh now obviously we've been uh
1690s flying through here i've seen chat uh
1692s saying a lot of lovely things about uh
1694s the art here and i'm gonna come to you
1695s mud black which you're no stranger to
1697s scented environments you've given us a
1699s fair few tours in the past can you talk
1701s us through the design approach for this
1702s one and what you were bringing to uh to
1704s the kind of zamaraki in undercity
1706s yeah absolutely
1708s first of all definitely want to say that
1710s the undercity specifically was mainly
1712s made by mod alex and this was absolutely
1714s his baby
1715s but um yeah one of the main inspirations
1718s obviously is
1719s the city of scientism that we made
1721s before it has some similar elements like
1724s um in the middle it has a big cathedral
1726s looking out over the entire district
1728s but other than that
1729s because we also kind of imagined this as
1732s being lower down than the original city
1735s so we also wanted to get some of the
1737s similar architectural influences and as
1739s we had in sex sewers so like the big
1741s pillars that go up to the ceiling and a
1744s bunch of things like that
1745s and then other than that we wanted to be
1748s feel more dangerous and gothic
1750s and more run down because
1753s this
1754s basically the story of the undercity is
1756s that it used to be
1758s equal to city that we had but then
1762s it gradually became poorer over time so
1765s it had to feel a lot more cramped for
1768s lots of things broken lots of like
1771s yeah basically people not being able to
1772s afford to fix it
1774s um
1775s so
1776s lots more small streets it also we had
1779s to have a
1782s a linear part through the dungeon almost
1784s set so there's one critical part to get
1787s through the bosses get too detentioned
1788s but it also had to feel kind of
1790s sandbox-like which was a bit of a
1792s challenge
1794s because there's
1795s this is a labyrinth basically it feels
1798s so big um if you walk around in it you
1800s constantly keep finding new stuff and
1802s it's great
1804s but
1804s yeah
1806s other than that it just had to feel
1808s sorry
1809s you go i'll otherwise just keep running
1812s keep going please do we have we work
1814s with delay on the stream so it's always
1815s fun for us isn't it
1818s yeah it's
1820s it it had to feel a lot more sinister
1822s and sam wrecking as well even though it
1824s is obviously the same sentence that

1847s plenty of dead bodies in the city as

1850s it's a mod alex special it seems
1853s but yeah there will be more um like the
1856s ground being cracked open by magic um
1859s things like that it will be a lot more
1861s frequent the closer you get
1863s to deform soul which should help quite a
1866s bit as well with guiding players to it
1869s awesome and i i
1871s i have seem to recall there's a very
1873s personal easter egg in there is that
1875s true can you confirm there's a people
1877s should be on the lookout for a very
1878s personal easter egg in here
1880s so there are plenty of personal easter
1882s eggs in there oh the one that you're
1884s referring to is actually in there twice

1926s keep things moving because i know many
1927s of you want to hear the boss too so much

1931s mini bosses you mentioned is there
1933s anything you want to say about what
1935s players can expect here if they're
1936s optional not optional
1938s is there any bespoke rewards tied to
1940s them that we should know about anything
1942s at all
1943s um so yeah um
1946s mini bosses um in this are fixed meaning
1951s uh you no longer have the random spawns
1953s you always have the exact same
1954s minibosses spawning every dungeon
1956s um
1957s part of the reasoning is that two of
1959s them you need to kill to get through the
1961s dungeon um
1963s and
1964s we
1966s when it comes to like racing for enrages
1968s we didn't want
1969s randomness to be a big part of it
1972s so we've just kind of gone we've fixed
1973s everything everyone will have the same
1975s experience going through um in terms of
1977s rewards uh mini bosses in this are
1980s rewarding um they'll be part of how you
1983s get the slivers that we'll talk about a
1985s bit later
1986s and there are some
1987s some unique rewards titles um etc that
1990s the mini bosses will be able to give you
1992s as you progress
1995s yeah and for those of you you may have
1997s seen those slithers already a little bit
1999s um with the current demon event and if
2001s you haven't already got involved it's a
2002s great way to not just get those reroll
2003s tokens but also get some other things
2005s too
2006s and a perfectly timed switch there
2007s actually to a piece of concept art um
2010s when it comes to talking about the boss
2012s battle the showdown with zamarak you
2014s know we've made it through the zamaraki
2016s in undersea we've got through the elite
2017s dungeon and we've we've gone through
2019s this portal and we're into the boss
2020s arena in the middle of the wilderness
2022s the wilderness crater
2023s can we take a live look at that are we
2025s ready to do that one because this this
2027s place is just stunning
2030s uh nope no we're not sorry i'm talking
2032s to production and everyone else just
2033s sees me saying no
2035s so everyone has to do something so um
2037s what we're gonna do is this arena when
2039s you see it um it's a
2041s very interesting design that we're gonna
2043s get into with uh modback which we're
2045s just going to take a second we have to
2047s jump
2048s mix like going around with concept art
2050s uh with everything else so just give us
2052s a second here uh alright i'm gonna come
2054s to you do you have any things or
2055s comments or questions from your time
2057s playing the elite dungeon specifically
2059s that you want to mention once we've got
2061s a few seconds here
2063s um i didn't spend a ton of time playing
2065s the dungeon itself
2068s um although i will say it was being
2069s played throughout the week right next to
2071s me so i i watched a couple playthroughs
2073s of it um i don't think anything that
2076s hasn't really been touched on it feels a
2078s little different from a traditional
2079s elite dungeon i think and correct me if
2081s i'm wrong um mod sponge but i think
2083s timing wise it's a little bit shorter
2085s than like an ed1 two or three i saw some
2088s people in chat asking about that but uh
2090s other than that it is an elite dungeon
2092s it's a little different from you know
2094s what your idea of a conventional elite
2096s engine might be but uh in a in a really
2098s interesting way
2100s yes and um so the elite dungeons it's in
2103s a much more condensed area um
2106s so it definitely has the appearance of
2108s being shorter um obviously as in rage
2110s goes up the the duration also goes up
2113s um but with that comes obviously uh a
2116s lot of strategies that players can come
2118s up with which will obviously be really
2119s really interesting to see how they how
2121s they deal with that
2122s um but that's yeah
2125s go for it sorry must say very quickly um
2128s i don't think we touched on this the
2129s array system doesn't just change um the
2132s scaling of hp and damage it also can
2134s change mobs right
2136s yeah um so you'll notice this pretty
2139s early on as you're pushing in rages that
2142s things you're familiar with changes um
2144s so whilst you might be approaching a
2146s dungeon door that previously was a bunch
2148s of mages it might now be a bunch of
2150s melees running at you um of different
2152s tiers
2153s um

2155s but yeah as in
2157s generally as in rage goes up it gets
2158s harder not just by hp but the mobs
2161s themselves um get stronger in a variety
2163s of ways
2165s cool
2166s are we i think we're ready now right for
2168s switching to it right let's go let's
2170s jump into the arena you're going to be
2172s facing zamarakin
2174s um and holy hell we need to see how big
2178s big zamrak is because the scale is
2180s unbelievable here i mean the whole
2181s environment is stunning and amazing i
2183s can never get over how huge he is in
2185s this battle it's insane
2186s mod blackwitch can what can you tell us
2188s about what went into the design of both
2190s xamaric and this huge boss arena
2193s yeah absolutely
2195s so for xarex specifically very early on
2197s it was decided that we don't we don't
2199s want to redesign him we don't want to
2200s change him from from his existing look
2203s so the entire rework was just to make
2206s him
2207s a lot more detailed bringing up the
2208s current standards and which how big he
2211s is as well like the amount of detail in
2212s that 3d model is actually incredible and
2215s this was what jt's last character that
2218s he made on the game and i think he was
2219s really showing off with us
2222s like purposely
2223s because it looks insanely good
2226s um and then yeah because samurai is so
2229s big as well
2230s the arena for him is giant like when
2233s when rahman actually like set requests
2236s for what he wanted the size of the arena
2238s to be we all were like are you sure
2240s that is
2241s really really big especially when he
2243s then also said that he wanted to giant
2245s magical barrier around it i
2248s we we had some discussions about who was
2250s going to make it because that was just
2253s i ended up doing it and i i'm so happy
2255s about how it turned out it adds so much
2257s to it
2258s i i was almost angry as well he's like
2260s i didn't want to do this because it was
2262s going to be quite difficult to pull off
2264s but
2265s it was such a good idea it it makes it
2268s look so much more dangerous and dramatic
2270s um so yeah obviously
2272s this is the wilderness creator and when
2274s we get into the actual like building
2276s refresh section later you'll see that
2278s it's
2279s quite a bit different from the
2281s area we ended up with in the wilderness
2283s because we had some more requirements
2285s for this one like the floor had to be
2287s quite flat for some of the boss
2288s mechanics
2289s uh but that also allowed us to add some
2292s cooler details into it like
2294s originally this was where there was a
2297s time wrecking cathedral as well so we
2299s tried to
2300s to basically show that in the drain
2303s materials some details added some like
2305s basically the foundation outlines of the
2307s church still being there
2310s and then we also had to show like the
2313s the gothic scene runes as well like the
2315s the edicts and
2317s basically it had to be a bit of a
2319s combination of um you have to ruin
2321s platforms which we saw concept earlier
2323s as well they have to look cardigan but
2326s then also kind of corrupted by zamarak
2328s so there are some interesting challenges
2330s here trying to make all of that work but
2333s i i really like how it all came together
2335s yeah and lots of people say it looks
2336s beautiful and i personally completely
2338s agree like a huge fan of how this looks
2340s and i love
2341s huge sammy
2343s now um mod sponge i'm gonna come to you
2345s because we've seen how beautiful this
2347s thing looks but and i know we're not
2349s gonna obviously be unveiling every
2351s mechanic and and the whole elements of
2353s this fight as we usually don't for
2354s bosses but what can you tell us about
2356s this fight with zamarak
2359s yeah um so to take on zami first thing
2361s you're gonna need is like a 98 success
2364s rate of wordle otherwise you will fail
2370s there's no word or puzzles involved in
2372s the boss fight i know people are
2373s freaking out um
2375s but yeah
2377s the the the runes there um they do take
2380s part of the the boss fight but not in a
2384s puzzly type way
2386s um so yeah the boss obviously is
2388s solo to five man again um it'd be a bit
2391s weird otherwise if you kick players out
2393s um
2394s so the intent is that this is our most
2397s scalable boss ever
2399s um so obviously starting from story mode
2402s um
2403s going way beyond 4 000 in rage
2407s um there's kind of a an area for
2409s everyone
2410s um
2412s no matter your kind of skill level
2415s um
2416s in terms of the the boss fight itself he
2419s very much designed this
2422s with wanting to be a kind of sandboxy
2425s experience with players really exploring
2428s how to approach it um and it is one of
2431s the most
2432s i want to say different boss fights that
2434s we have um
2436s mechanically um it's very
2440s i want to say mechanically intense but
2441s that might not be the right the right
2443s phrasing for it um there's a lot of
2445s mechanics
2447s but
2448s they kind of
2450s they kind of differ in terms of
2452s complexity
2453s um
2455s one that we will
2458s touch upon i don't want to reveal all of
2459s them because obviously i want players
2461s going in semi-blind
2462s um but obviously we have the the runes
2464s in the sky there
2466s and we're going to need to to turn the
2468s edicts on to essentially win this fight
2470s so as you
2472s battle you're going to be turning on
2473s these these edicts
2476s and as you do this you're going to be
2478s empowered by the sword of edicts
2482s so if each each pad you turn on uh you
2485s essentially get stronger
2486s but at the same time zamrak
2489s has his own corrupted version of these
2491s edicts and he is also going to get
2492s stronger
2494s the order you activate these is
2496s completely up to you
2498s so if you want
2500s you can start
2502s one two three four five six
2504s if you want you can go and reverse um so
2507s like i said it's very much a sandbox
2508s experience each time you you activate
2511s one you'll receive
2513s a guaranteed buff based on which one you
2515s activated
2516s um
2518s so as an example if you activate the the
2520s big b over there
2522s you might gain some sort of damage buff
2527s so there's you can kind of incorporate
2528s that into your play style on how how you
2531s like to play the game if you want to
2532s take it slow and steady you can if you
2534s want to try and just rush it in a more
2536s dangerous way you can do that also
2538s um but each one of these has a
2539s corresponding hex that zamarak's gonna
2540s cast
2541s um and this is going to negatively
2543s affect you and empower him
2545s um and these get stronger
2547s the longer the fight goes on
2549s um so by the end some of these hexes are
2551s pretty nasty
2553s um
2554s but yes it's kind of i think i think
2556s we're gonna do a
2557s dive on that on the uh on the post um
2561s but beyond that i don't really want to
2562s reveal many more mechanics um
2565s because it's gonna obviously gonna be a
2566s big big part of day one seeing players
2568s figure this out
2570s and the order they want to do it
2572s well and and that's the fun as well is
2574s because you know we've got rs guy here
2576s joining us we're super excited to have
2577s you on the show
2578s um and you have this kind of unenviable
2581s task now because you know um we're going
2583s to ask you a few questions about it but
2585s again we've got to stay within the
2586s limits of what we can talk about so it's
2588s going to be fun

2590s even though chat wants you to leak
2591s everything um so you first i'm gonna
2594s talk about like you were here watching a
2595s boss being developed uh for what four or
2598s five days you're kind of around the team
2600s um you were testing it you had real-time
2602s responses to your feedback implemented
2604s what was the experience like being part
2606s of that development like what can you
2607s tell us about your experience of being
2608s part of that
2610s i think the the first thing that i'll
2612s just say is like a main takeaway is just
2613s how much time and energy and effort um
2616s sponge and ramen have put into this boss
2618s fight they've gone so far above and
2620s beyond and they care so much about
2622s knocking this thing out of the park and
2624s i'm just i'm so excited to see people
2626s play this boss on release day because
2629s it
2630s feels different from in my experience
2632s from any other boss in the game and just
2634s even over the course of five days seeing
2637s feedback being kind of live implemented
2640s basically what was happening is i was in
2642s the room playing the bus
2643s um and they were also in the room and
2645s they were live hot fixing things on the
2647s test server and balancing things and and
2650s making modifications to things based on
2651s my feedback and
2653s it was it was a really really
2655s interesting experience to see the boss
2657s kind of take shape and take form over
2659s the course of that period of time and
2660s just to look at the difference between
2662s where it was you know on the first day
2664s that i played it and
2666s you know on the on the final day
2669s and now
2671s as you mentioned you know you were part
2672s of that you were part of the play
2674s testing now we can't obviously talk
2675s about any more mechanics or anything
2676s like that uh give anything away that we
2678s haven't already talked about already but
2680s within the realms of what you can say on
2682s that what stood out to you about this
2683s experience like what are your personal
2685s kind of what's your personal take that
2687s you would share from from that kind of
2688s time with the boss i think a lot of time
2691s people want me to like compare it to
2692s another boss and it's hard to do so
2694s because it's very very different sort of
2696s like what mod sponge just said there's a
2699s lot of player choice in the boss fight
2701s with the charging of the edicts it's
2703s effectively a phase blast but you get to
2706s choose the order of the phases and
2707s you've got what 36 different
2710s orders of of phasing and something that
2712s i think is is really really well done
2714s with the design of the boss that you
2716s know maybe will speak to the the
2717s difficulty level but when you're just
2720s starting out at the boss and you're not
2721s on a super extreme difficulty level you
2723s can kind of charge up the edicts in the
2726s order of your choosing and it probably
2727s won't be the end of the world which is
2730s very good for accessibility reasons but
2731s once you get to those high end rages
2734s um you're going to find that every
2736s single tiny little choice you make is
2737s going to have a significant impact on
2739s how the remainder of the boss fight will
2741s go
2742s so that's something i think is really
2743s really nice because it gives
2745s you know accessibility while also at the
2747s end game you know there's a lot of
2749s opportunity for for optimization and
2750s advancement i think it's done in a way
2752s that you really can't compare to any
2754s other boss in the game
2756s thanks that um great job finding a way

2760s oh yeah one other thing i was gonna
2762s touch on as well um i know a number of
2764s people were asking about you know we're
2766s talking about how it gets to an
2767s impossible level of difficulty or a near
2769s impossible level of difficulty um and
2771s part of that is in rage going above four
2773s thousand percent but a number of people
2774s are asking sort of is that based on hp
2777s where at a certain point it's got 50
2778s million life points or is it just that
2780s the mechanics get harder and harder and
2782s harder and um i have been given
2784s permission to touch on that um and i'm
2786s gonna say just that the hp scaling does
2788s stop um at a certain point so it's not
2791s that you know at a really high end rage
2793s the boss is gonna have 25 million 50
2797s million life points it's just the
2798s mechanics are going to get harder and
2800s harder and harder to the point that it
2802s is in my opinion completely impossible
2806s awesome thank you so much a great job
2808s staying somehow in the spoiler-free
2810s territory there it's awesome um yeah so
2813s speaking of spoilers now obviously you
2815s were at the studio and being part of
2816s development which gives you kind of this
2818s competitive advantage on day one which
2821s means that you know we've kind of
2822s decided to kind of make some
2823s restrictions uh with you offering you
2825s know groceries to come do this at that
2827s kind of trade-off you know competitive
2829s fairness is is really important so um
2831s what are you going to be up to on launch
2833s day instead
2835s yeah of course so obviously i
2837s i know a bit about the boss um as as one
2840s can expect i think this has been talked
2842s about before i was able to successfully
2844s kill the boss and i have seen a number
2847s of the mechanics although the way that
2848s they come out on release will probably
2850s be a little different from how i
2851s experienced them as you know things are
2852s being tweaked and balanced and whatnot
2854s um
2855s but i have opted out of playing the boss
2858s on release day just out of out of
2859s fairness to everyone else who's gonna be
2861s racing the high scorers and instead of
2863s playing the blast myself uh i will be
2865s live on the runescape channel and it's
2867s gonna be a casted event so on release
2869s we're gonna be casting and basically
2871s watching everyone race and climb in
2873s rages
2874s um for a number of hours the second the
2876s boss drops so
2878s it should be uh
2880s it should be a ton of fun it should be
2882s really really exciting and it should be
2883s a really nice way to showcase some of
2885s the you know the the top pvmers in the
2887s game and and just kind of see what they
2889s can do
2890s yeah i'm really excited to have that and
2892s obviously don't forget um you know this
2894s does bring us to some important news
2896s that we are going to have an official
2897s world's first race bear in mind that
2899s there are um leaderboards and there are
2901s categories for each of the uh
2903s configurations to go in so we've got one
2905s team two team two sorry solos duos um
2909s three player four player and five player
2911s all that are going to be part of the
2913s world's first race which is really
2915s really exciting and speaking of which we
2917s talked about those leaderboards in the
2918s video and i just mentioned now um let's
2920s just bring that up uh quickly for a
2922s second
2923s um if
2925s uh half a second being told um but for
2927s compare competitive people watching this
2928s here's what you need to know right so
2930s when the update launches on july 4th the
2932s world's first race begins the first team
2934s from each category to clear 100 in rage
2937s is what we're setting as the bar will
2939s earn themselves some rewards that we'll
2941s be revealing next week we'll also be
2943s continuing following the stories of
2944s players pushing in rage as the days goes
2946s on uh and we'll also be giving out
2948s rewards for the first team in each
2950s category to clear a thousand percent in
2952s rage so even if you don't get to 100
2955s first keep pushing uh you know keep
2957s chasing it because we're going to keep
2959s talking about and going to keep
2960s recognizing it
2961s uh and also mud sponge
2963s just to come on to that topic you talk
2966s to me a little bit about
2967s we talked already near unlimited enrage
2970s etc why do we say near unlimited and
2972s then also what is the kind of the place
2974s of the future of the leaderboards in in
2976s this boss
2977s the longevity of it
2979s um we say near unlimited
2982s because
2983s we essentially believe like there is a
2986s brick wall players will reach where
2988s they won't be able to get much further
2990s and that like they might be able to chip
2992s away another 10 here and there
2994s um
2995s but
2996s yeah it currently has i think it it hard
2999s caps at 60k i believe we can also extend
3001s that further
3003s that's why near unlimited basically like
3005s if if like if players were somehow
3007s getting to 59k pretty easily i believe
3010s we could just go all right we're gonna
3011s raise it again
3014s not that we think players will get
3015s anywhere near there
3017s um
3018s so we're saying near unlimited because
3021s it doesn't go to infinite um but we can
3024s we can essentially keep moving the goal
3025s posts back if we needed to
3027s um and because
3029s we don't we we truly don't think players
3032s will get we'll get there um
3034s it's one of those things i think
3036s i think in a couple of years as players
3038s get better gear and
3041s hone their skills they might like i said
3044s be able to chip away a bit more but yeah
3046s i don't think anyone's reaching the end
3047s anytime soon
3050s and for those of you um who look at
3052s checking out this leaderboard as well a
3053s couple of things you should know so
3054s first thing is good really cool we're
3056s actually gonna have that integrated into
3057s our overlays if you come join us on day
3059s one uh so you'll be able to see those
3061s updating in real time uh this will also
3063s launch alongside with the boss there's a
3064s few features on here that will launch a
3066s couple days later like uh individual
3067s player search so just bear in mind some
3069s parts of it are launching a little later
3071s but pretty much everything is within the
3072s first week and the leaderboards
3074s themselves will be visible from day one
3076s which is really exciting
3078s okay just before we close out on all
3079s things xamarin i can start to move to
3080s the rewards which i know a lot of people
3082s are intense hooks for um
3084s i just want to say mod sponge we talked
3085s already about the elite dungeon we're
3086s trying to make this something you know
3088s scalability accessibility all the way up
3090s to the top end all the way down to the
3092s low end and what would you say to anyone
3094s who's like looking at this
3095s maybe it's like look i don't do elite
3097s dungeons i don't do pvm um is this
3100s something they should get involved in
3101s what can they can they do to get
3103s involved in this content
3104s oh absolutely there's there's literally
3106s no better time um obviously on release
3109s we have free death week um so there's
3112s literally no no risk to it um and it is
3115s very much the best time to get involved
3118s um
3119s story mode uh like previous ones you
3121s have a huge chunk of damage reduction um
3124s but unlike previous dungeons you
3125s actually do get rewards here
3127s um
3129s although there is a reduction you still
3131s can get the big ticket items there is
3134s potential for huge
3135s amounts of gains
3137s um and obviously that that
3140s the skills that you'll learn even in
3143s story mode and learning how to do
3145s the different mechanics are gonna
3147s help you move on to normal mode if you
3149s don't think you're ready yet
3150s um and again uh like we said before it's
3153s scalable um to your group size so
3156s if you're if you're not feeling it as a
3158s solo um
3160s you can grab someone that's maybe
3161s slightly better than you you can tackle
3162s it as a duo or you can tackle it as a
3164s five man um just so you can get involved
3168s uh it's very much i feel like open to
3170s everyone this
3173s brilliant um
3174s right i think it's time for us to get
3176s into the rewards i had a couple super

3202s loot system we've gone away from ed one
3205s two and three um
3207s we didn't like that um so it will very
3210s much be
3211s fixed drop rates more like raksha
3214s um so if you guys are five man you're
3216s not losing out on those drop rates um
3218s and it's gonna be the same rates as solo
3221s um
3222s what was the other part sorry um just
3226s how enraged how enraged works with with
3228s a group yeah
3229s so as a group um you can go in that
3232s enrages
3234s up to your highest members
3236s uh highest in rage so
3239s if i've if i've not been involved day
3241s one i'm at zero percent you've you've
3242s done all of day one you're at 500 as a
3245s duo
3246s um i can join you we can go do 500
3249s um my enrage will only tick up by 10
3252s so i my enrage will only then be at 10
3255s um so i'm still gaining
3257s but it won't immediately set me to 500
3260s as i'd say um so you can very much just
3263s go get involved with a group um and not
3265s worry about it we don't we don't want
3266s players to feel like they're missing out
3268s because they haven't quite got those
3270s enraged thresholds even if they're good
3271s enough to do it right
3273s yeah and it's a flat 10 each kill
3275s correct
3276s absolutely yeah
3278s oh and actually just just whilst we're
3280s here uh because i know this might
3282s actually be your next point but
3285s um we've absolutely got away with
3286s streaking um we didn't want that
3289s anywhere here

3291s it is just very much kill the boss get
3293s your awards like like the previous
3294s dungeons um we don't think streaking had
3296s anything to add to this encounter
3300s yeah

3302s the the last one also yeah thank you for
3304s the breakdown i know a lot of people in
3305s chat were interested
3306s and no streaking which is definitely i
3309s think people probably be happy to see
3311s that um
3313s could i make a recommendation for
3315s release day for people
3318s that's all right um yeah so in my
3321s experience testing the last mod hooli's
3322s looking at me like uh what's it gonna
3324s say what is the recommendation yeah
3326s so
3327s the boss
3329s i would say is mostly it does work for
3333s groups from one to five i fought the
3335s boss a lot as a solo player i fought the
3337s boss a lot in a group
3339s my recommendation
3341s is that the boss flows a little better
3342s in a group
3344s so
3345s if you are a solo player you'll be able
3347s to get through it for sure but in terms
3349s of the flow of the fight and the
3350s enjoyment of the fight my recommendation
3353s would be
3354s two to five is gonna flow a little
3355s better so panic by some friends
3357s potentially and that is my that is my
3360s one final recommendation i would say for
3361s release day
3363s actually thank you for that that's a
3364s really good recommendation actually
3365s because uh you know having you on the
3367s stream and having your own personal
3368s experience and giving that to players is
3370s awesome so people are like oh my god

3394s but we're going to tell you about all
3395s the rewards and we're going to go into
3397s the big ones which are the new t95 bow
3400s and the new tier 90 melee glass cannon
3403s armor um so why don't we talk about the
3405s bow first because i think that's the big
3407s headliner mud sponge walk us through uh
3409s this new t95 pro what's it called and
3411s what does it do
3412s so this is the uh the bow of the last
3415s guardian um
3416s it's a bow as it's
3418s stated in the name
3420s um so whilst you're using the bow
3423s um each time
3425s you
3426s uh cast an ability or attack land
3428s something on here essentially you're
3429s gonna gain a stack
3431s um
3432s when you reach eight stacks
3435s um
3436s when you reach eight stacks you will
3438s fire off a chunk of damage
3440s based on the ability that triggered the
3443s ape stack
3444s so if you're if you're not great
3447s you might just be
3448s mindlessly hitting you're still going to
3450s be doing good
3451s um if you're a good pvm and you're going
3453s to be strategically
3455s placing your last ability to get the
3458s most out of this um
3460s it also has a special attack um i don't
3463s know if you want to show this off you
3464s might need to give yourself some ideas
3465s if we are um yeah yeah you'll need some
3467s arrows
3468s it also has a special attack um the
3470s special attack
3472s one it looks sick
3473s two
3475s it hits for a chunk of damage
3477s and it also decreases the number of
3479s stacks you need to trigger the passive
3481s um so the special attack is very much
3484s intended to be used by the bow and not
3486s by some fancy samantha necklace
3489s um
3491s yeah it it this this one's definitely
3493s gonna be interesting to see um it
3495s synergizes quite nicely with um a lot of
3498s the current
3499s current range gear
3501s um but
3502s there's also
3504s quite a nice skill element to how you
3506s use it
3507s um
3509s so yeah that's the bow you're going to
3511s want to
3513s stock up on them down arrows um because
3516s obviously it is a bow not a charge bow
3518s so you're gonna you're gonna need to use
3519s those to get the most out of it

3615s and uh just to confirm this is uh this
3617s only drops from uh the boss correct like
3620s and do you have only
3622s ever like every motor any mode
3625s any mode it comes in three pieces as
3627s players i'm sure are used to by now
3629s um and like previous things you'll get
3632s them in get them in order
3635s perfect uh okay let's go on to the melee
3639s armor which is also a boss only drop
3641s correct
3642s it is indeed
3644s all right um so
3647s just asking you to do things production
3648s shout out to our production team by the
3650s way there actually he's having too much
3651s fun
3652s he's just he's just beeps in
3655s um yep so the melee armor um
3658s let me load up
3659s the melee armor is called the vestments
3661s of havoc um it is a
3664s four piece malai armor set
3666s i want to say yeah four piece
3669s um and it is what i'm kind of
3672s he he's fr he's frank the uh the dummy
3674s that's why i kept kept knocking him out
3676s um so this is what we're calling a glass
3679s glass cannon set um so this has offset
3681s armor and damage values um i think it's
3683s tier 70 armor and it has roughly tier
3686s 100 damage values um so it absolutely
3690s smacks
3691s um it has four effects
3693s um
3694s oh yeah it's throwing it on screen um so
3696s after you cast an alt as a maya um
3699s you'll start regening some of some
3701s adrenaline um if you trigger that again
3703s whilst it's still regening you'll get a
3705s chunk of adrenaline um which is
3707s obviously quite nice for burst players
3709s um
3710s the next effect is it extends berserk
3714s um obviously again malay is probably
3717s loving it right now and then the final
3719s effect is you get some you get a extra
3722s gap of max adrenaline um like the
3725s archaeology relic
3727s um so i think with the relic and this
3728s you can now go up to 130
3731s um and this thing
3732s absolutely slaps
3735s and like you said before yeah this this
3737s only comes
3738s from the boss
3742s very cool i love how different it looks
3743s as well i'd like i personally am a huge
3746s fan of it especially because it's meant
3747s to be glass cannon it kind of looks more
3748s fragile but super cool in the process
3750s which is kind of awesome
3752s yeah okay
3753s um do you wanna run us through some of
3755s the other um upgrades i know there's a
3757s few we're not gonna show so one we're
3759s not gonna go into detail on just because
3760s we want people to have a little bit of a
3762s surprise on it is i hear there's a brand
3765s new melee ability
3768s uh yeah
3769s um if we
3771s i think i think we might roughly say
3773s what it says in the post i'll just
3774s briefly go into exact but um so we have
3777s a new melee ability as well called chaos
3779s raw
3780s um chaos raw is a basic um
3784s and what it does essentially is it
3785s doubles your damage your base damage for
3787s your next hit
3789s um so
3790s i think a good example is everyone's
3792s favorite eof weapon the exokill
3795s um you can chaos draw cast a special and
3798s the entirety of the first hit and the
3799s bleed is going to be doubled
3801s um
3802s because it's base damage it works with
3803s everything
3806s and yeah it's a it's pretty fun ability
3808s to use
3810s even even getting more out of our basics
3812s like
3813s uh i think great fury where it's a
3815s single hit works well with it
3816s um again there's a
3819s small amount of skill to using it in
3821s that you can't just use it with anything
3823s if you use it with um
3825s say assault or destroy it's only gonna
3827s double the first hit so you're gonna be
3828s losing out a bit
3830s um but yeah more mellow buffs
3833s can i just add that in in in testing
3836s this chaos or exit kill thing at a
3838s certain point i can say this right i can
3840s say what it was doing hey you're fine
3841s yeah yeah okay so it was buffing all the
3844s hits of the exit kill spec to the point
3845s that the bleed was hit in 10ks
3848s it was just running up to the hit cap
3852s it was pretty pretty impressive
3855s um do you want to walk us through some
3856s of the other um boss specific drops
3859s we're going to be looking out for um i
3861s know for example there's some some other
3863s upgrades coming as well right
3866s yep so we also have um
3868s try and remember the in-game name and
3870s not the developer name i think it's
3872s greater isn't it
3874s yeah but how you get it i'm gonna say
3877s the wrong name here but you'll you'll
3879s you'll be corrected we'll fix it in post
3881s what we called was um
3882s a blank codex and the boss can drop this
3885s and what blank codex is is
3888s it is essentially an upgrade to
3890s death swiftness or sunshine you you
3893s choose um you combine a blank codex
3897s um with some components
3899s and invention bench to create
3901s greater sunshine or greater f swiftness
3904s and what they do is
3906s they retain they essentially give you
3909s planted feet but they retain the damage
3912s buff that you originally lost from
3914s planted feet
3915s um
3916s so
3917s no no longer will you need to to plant a
3919s feed switch
3921s you'll get both the extended duration uh
3923s and the ticking damage
3928s and also uh just to really finally wrap
3930s up on the kind of boss rewards we've got
3933s um a pet i'm assuming
3935s yeah um we've got zamo the rack
3941s i can't believe he went with that name
3944s he did we had to um
3946s yeah we got zama the rack uh it might
3948s not be exactly what players are
3949s expecting
3951s zamo the rack is in fact a greater demon

3956s you'll be able to get him from the boss
3958s i don't think you can get him in story
3960s mode
3962s and after a certain kill threshold
3964s you'll be able to unlock a nice new
3966s chaos skin for him
3968s um
3969s and then if it's all right quickly i'll
3971s touch on the dungeon stuff as well
3973s that's all right yeah yes that's what i
3975s was going to say yeah i was about to ask
3976s that was my next question
3978s yeah um so the dungeon stuff um players
3981s obviously over the past week or so i've
3983s been getting these these demonic slivers
3985s um you'll be able to combine these
3988s in various numbers with some existing
3991s items in game
3993s to
3993s create an enchantment
3996s and you will then be able to use this
3997s enchantment essentially on yourself
4000s and unlock
4001s upgraded effects for some existing gear
4003s in-game
4005s just to touch on the kind of things
4008s um i think we're launching with nine
4010s enchantments
4011s um and included are things like um
4017s the hex hunter bow
4019s uh inquisitive staff pterosaur more
4021s um so once you consume the enchantments
4023s of these
4024s um
4026s you'll be able to use those items with
4027s greater effect and it'll improve their
4029s effects um
4031s and
4032s i i think in the post we say what they
4034s are i i will touch on
4037s i won't say the effect
4040s feel free yeah give the list uh yeah so
4041s you got the first three and then we've
4043s also got enhanced carrot pack wrist
4044s wraps enhanced gloves of passage
4046s enhanced nightmare gauntlets channelers
4049s ring champions ring and stalker's ring
4053s um yeah they're the ones we're launching
4054s with um
4056s obviously if players like this this
4058s delivery of
4059s of reward it's something we can do in
4060s the future um there is obviously some
4064s bigger
4065s ticketing items i can think of that
4066s could could use this sort of thing
4068s um so yeah but it'd be cool to see
4072s uh and then finally uh obviously just to
4075s confirm we obviously have titles for you
4077s know really pushing in rage right

4085s we have wrath of chaos

4089s which is a certain enrage threshold in
4092s groups
4093s we have another title
4095s that is for solo
4097s so we can differentiate those

4108s yeah do you have the name of the solo
4110s one to hand i do yeah so lord of chaos

4113s uh
4114s group and then wrath of chaos is solo
4117s and then obviously there's colored
4119s variants from from what i understand
4120s yeah right as you hit different enraged
4122s thresholds like previous and range
4124s bosses you'll be able to unlock
4125s different colored versions to kind of to
4127s shut off a bit and flex
4129s um
4131s yeah i think i think that so just one
4134s quick question then so we're talking
4135s about the elite dungeon staying like
4137s worth running and you know you unlock
4138s the ability to skip it um and there's
4141s still a reason to kind of go through it
4143s um
4144s with these rewards you just talked about
4145s the slivers exclusive to the elite
4147s dungeon like uh or is it is it can you
4150s also get them as a drop from the boss
4152s night so this slivers will only come
4153s from the elite dungeon obviously we've
4154s given players a taste um through the
4157s pre-release of um a mini event
4159s um but
4160s just so
4162s dungeon runners aren't completely
4164s disheartened um people just going and
4166s slaying the boss multiple times um
4168s these slivers are locked to the dungeon
4170s and will come from mini bosses and mobs
4171s in the dungeon
4173s um also
4175s from the dungeon i think i touched on it
4177s earlier but there is
4178s a new title and some other little unique
4180s bits that mini bosses can drop
4184s um unfortunately we are out of time we
4186s were actually over time already for this
4187s segment but we just didn't want to deny
4189s you all this uh detail um someone asked
4191s uh quickly um
4193s i still don't understand with the
4194s slivers like what they do you're
4196s combining a certain number of those
4197s levers with these items to get them to
4200s be more enhanced right to power them up
4201s especially so the slivers um that you
4204s essentially use them in a recipe to make
4206s an enchantment that enchantment is
4208s tradable or you can use it yourself
4210s if you use it yourself you unlock the
4212s ability to
4214s use these items at a increased rate so
4216s say i i
4217s use some slivers of pain to make a hex
4219s hunter enchantment um with some extra
4222s secondary ingredients i can then consume
4224s that enchantment and i'll use hex on the
4226s bow and the infect will be improved

4770s start daughter of chaos is the perfect

4774s fresh start for gilenore but the
4776s opposing factions are acting very
4778s differently while the saradominist
4780s humans are relatively united under their
4781s leader address state the zamarakians are
4783s fighting a brutal civil war for control
4785s of the wilderness
4787s the remaining of vernick demons led by
4790s krill are opposed by bill rock his demon
4792s hein army and the rest of the marjora
4794s daughter of chaos focuses on moya one of
4796s billrock's lieutenants who has been
4798s attacking humans near the border of miss
4800s halen address they abuse her as the
4801s biggest threat at this point so she
4803s asked you to travel to the wilderness
4805s track her down and stop her
4807s i won't let adrastaya take this from me
4810s basilisk or indeed an empty title for a
4813s weakling and a fool
4815s moya and ajistea are both very powerful
4817s characters yet really contrasting in
4820s their own drives and morals we've
4821s redesigned moya and i feel that it
4823s really suits her she actually looks like
4825s a military general prepared to fight in
4827s a war we wanted to not only graphically
4829s update moya but also to reflect her
4830s character in her redesign whilst
4832s referencing her classic colour scheme
4834s now moya's half-margerat heritage is
4836s finally on full display with her horns
4838s she's intimidating rogish and practical
4840s which is what she really needed
4843s on your quest to hunt down moya you'll
4844s be accompanied by one of address day's
4846s top agents of all the characters in the
4848s quest i probably had the most fun
4849s writing the agent's dialogue i had a lot
4851s of creative freedom to write some really
4852s fun lines it was also amazing to work
4854s with addresses voice actress who fits
4856s the role perfectly
4858s as basilisa it is my responsibility to
4861s safeguard the human kingdoms and
4862s maintain their alliance
4864s i really like that adrister is sort of
4866s torn between royal duty and her love of
4868s adventure which we get to see in her
4870s extinction debut i think that she'll be
4872s a great ruler but she's always going to
4874s have questing on her mind so she has a
4876s lot more up her sleeve for the future
4877s which is so exciting what i love about
4879s adjustair is that she was my first big
4882s industry character so i definitely have
4884s a soft spot for her she represented
4885s everything i wanted to be as a kid
4887s whenever i played games smart and
4889s adventurous with a cool outfit and nice
4891s makeup i want players to love her too so
4893s i work closely with the concept artist
4895s to get her design up to scratch and add
4897s my own spin on things
4899s as you're working with addresses agents
4901s track down moya you'll come across
4902s traces of moya's memories through these
4905s traces you'll be able to see flashbacks
4906s of recent events from moya's perspective
4909s there's some awesome gameplay segments
4911s where you get to play as moya in a
4912s parallel story arc fighting in the civil
4914s war
4915s as moira you'll also get to have some
4916s cool interactions with other characters
4918s you wouldn't normally get to experience
4920s there are some powerful character
4922s moments especially near the end of the
4923s quest that i'm really excited to see
4925s people's reaction to
4928s the daughter of chaos quest is the
4930s beginning of a brand new period in
4931s gilino's history what lies ahead is a

4977s this being kind of the first quest that
4979s really returns our storyline to those
4980s like grounded classic fantasy roots of
4983s runescape storytelling where are we with
4985s the events of this quest
4988s so like i mentioned in the intro like
4990s this quest is set it's set after the
4991s boss things happen during the boss it's
4993s pretty obvious what's going to happen
4995s samurai is going to get banished the
4996s gods are going to get banished we've not
4997s been like that's not a twist that's
4999s that's like the story that we've laid
5000s out some people are predicting that some
5002s crazy thing is going to happen and the
5004s storyline is going to go a completely
5006s different way to the way that we've
5007s explicitly said it is we're trying to
5008s get away from that sort of crazy twist
5010s um where you just have absolutely no
5012s idea what the next update is going to be
5013s about so we can talk about the next
5015s question and show details about the next
5017s quest so this is about in the aftermath
5019s of zamarak what's going on with the
5020s world like how would the zamarakians
5022s respond to their god just suddenly
5024s disappearing with no warning what do you
5026s think are they all going to just club
5027s together and be happy friends agree on
5029s the course next course forward probably
5031s not i wouldn't have thought so they're
5033s probably going to start murdering each
5034s other so so like yeah this is like the
5036s second half of the storyline the first
5037s half of the storyline is the boss second
5039s half of the story around here
5041s one thing that we really want to do and
5043s this is like that let's call this like a
5044s trial run like um like because like as i
5047s said with elder god was we learned a lot
5049s about the storyline with this with the
5050s storyline we're gonna we're gonna try
5052s stuff out and learn we wanna try to do
5054s more to get players on board with the
5056s storyline
5057s one of the things about the six-stage
5058s storyline
5060s is that it's really it's really intense
5063s i i described it as like the switch
5064s scape of law it's so complicated like if
5067s you want to understand what's really
5068s going on in like the elder god wars
5070s dungeon you need to understand so much
5071s you need to watch like 45 minutes of
5073s lore video to even get the basics of
5074s what's going on it's so complicated and
5077s we're trying to get away from that so
5078s this is like supposed to be an
5080s onboarding part point for the story for
5082s like we want people to enjoy runescape's
5084s law we want people to get on with
5085s runescape story but we don't want them
5086s to have to play like 700 hours of
5089s content or watch four hours of videos
5091s just to get started
5093s so it's intentionally kind of simpler
5095s which i talked before about like keeping
5097s it grounded keeping it low fantasy i
5099s think you can see from this like
5102s like margera are still okay like bill
5104s rex fine moyers fine demons are fine
5106s like it's still runescape it's still the
5108s runescape saying we're just not going to
5110s be flying into space and shooting lasers
5111s at each other so it's about trying to
5113s get more people involved in runescape
5115s setting in its story and its law
5117s building content that like
5119s you know
5121s isn't only for the most highly engaged
5122s players basically is what we're trying
5123s to do here
5126s yeah and obviously that makes it a great
5128s kind of jumping on point for people who
5130s i you know like you said the elder god
5131s was quite a complex thing to get your
5133s head around also went over an extended
5134s period of time which is really cool um

5260s something a quest that you're kind of

5263s involved in from its uh inception

5268s what can you tell us about this quest
5269s what's kind of the key focus of this
5271s question experience
5273s uh so i will preface this by saying that
5275s i had very little involvement with this
5276s quest i'm uh it's all down to mod zera
5279s and some of mods too uh but
5281s unfortunately both of them are another
5283s country right now so you've got me
5285s um
5286s but yes so
5288s this quest is it's following on from the
5290s previous stuff it's holding on from a
5292s bit of extinction a bit of um uh
5295s oh i've gotten its name the previous uh
5297s samurai quest but it's a good sort of
5299s starting point as well um you won't need
5301s to have known everything to get here
5303s it'll be covered quite neatly um but
5305s it's exploring
5307s uh those characters
5309s uh a bit about to share but mostly this
5311s is about moya
5312s um and this is um
5314s uh
5315s getting a chance to
5317s uh see some of what moya struggles with
5319s in in the organization she's part of and
5322s also what she's you know uh overcoming
5324s you know there's obviously more plot
5326s that i'm trying not to spoil
5328s because it's part of the quest for
5330s obvious reasons but um
5332s uh
5333s yeah it's a it's a good chance to um
5337s get to know her a bit better it's
5338s probably the way of putting it
5341s and from a gameplay perspective yeah no
5343s it's good and and from a gameplay
5345s experience like every quest has
5346s different vibe right we've had a quest
5348s that are just really more of a narrative
5351s unfurling not too much gameplay more of
5353s a kind of walk along and kind of absorb
5355s the narrative we have ones that are very
5356s gameplay heavy with a lot less narrative
5358s and obviously a lot in between that um
5359s puzzle sensory quest etc what would how
5361s would you describe the gameplay
5362s experience of this quest what's what's
5364s kind of the pillars of it from uh from a
5366s playthrough perspective
5368s yeah so um
5371s this isn't one of those um

5374s you're basically watching one big
5375s cutscene uh guide request which i know
5378s we've done and i'm certainly guilty of
5380s and we'll do again um but um this is one
5383s of those ones where you'll be active
5385s you'll be doing things um
5386s it's a little bit different to some of
5388s the ones you've done before
5389s as
5390s quite a lot of the gameplay you won't be
5392s playing as yourself you'll be taking
5393s control of moya direct
5395s um so you'll be
5397s literally living out some of the
5398s struggles literally living out some what
5400s she's doing um and you'll begin to play
5402s around with cool majora ish
5405s powers um that moya can wield and and
5407s hurler enemies so it's um there's a
5410s decent amount of combat um but it's a
5414s different version of combat i.e it's um
5416s safe combat and you're not actually the
5418s person doing the combat but moyer is the
5420s person doing the combat so you get to
5421s play around with some funky new
5423s abilities and some things and
5424s it's good fun there's lots of uh
5426s bouncing around and mass murdering
5428s things it's quite um it's a bit
5430s different
5431s ground
5433s time uh yeah it's it's a lot of doing
5436s stuff
5437s and and i love doing stuff we'll put
5439s that on the box
5441s um what's your favorite moment within it
5443s you know from a spoiler free perspective
5444s like do you have a stand-up moment
5446s especially coming onto the project kind
5447s of later in
5449s um

5451s i can't think of something that's a
5453s spoiler-free moment but i would there is
5455s uh one mechanic i like which is um
5459s uh so you've got um an ability with uh
5462s when you play as moira uh where you can
5464s kind of um
5466s move to an area like you've got you
5467s cross a long distance into sort of aoe
5470s uh damage around you and uh mod zuro
5473s who's the person predominantly
5474s responsible for the quest um has done
5476s this neat little thing with animations
5478s where depending on how far away you
5479s click to do this interaction you get a
5481s slightly different um uh interaction the
5483s mechanics ultimately the same but you
5484s get a cooler animation so if it's short
5486s distance like more does it kind of haha
5488s boom
5488s uh where if it's further away she just
5490s really needs to kind of leap through the
5491s air roll and then go ha ha boom
5494s she doesn't actually say ha ha boom but
5497s i'm still in your head
5498s in your head she's saying every time
5501s yeah i mean i do
5503s uh fortunately players don't have to
5504s listen to my voice at all
5507s maybe
5509s brilliant and um you know it's been
5510s working at these amazing characters and
5512s kind of these moments um mod dragon
5514s you've been part of bringing
5516s you know these characters life obviously
5517s addressed there was a huge thing for you
5519s see how excited you were in the vt
5522s what does it mean to bring these
5523s characters live like can you talk us a
5524s little bit through the creation and kind
5526s of redesign or design of these
5527s characters i know what it is and we've
5529s got some concept out show what she
5531s chatted yeah so uh well first things
5534s first moya was made by modsofan and she
5537s did an amazing job she looks amazing um
5540s i think the most important thing was to
5543s sort of
5544s get a proper feel of what her actual
5546s personality is like
5548s so that definitely helped with the
5550s design process a lot um
5554s and like
5555s for example like moyo is this very sort
5557s of stoic
5559s like militant lady
5561s so we were like okay
5563s uh she needs something that actually
5564s reflects that in her
5567s um
5568s and yeah i spoke a bit more about it in
5570s the in the video but yeah that's that's
5571s the sort of thing we we basically did
5573s when we were working with concept
5575s and the same with addresstail we were
5576s thinking about
5578s what she's like as a character and
5581s she's obviously
5583s you know royalty but she has this sort
5586s of sense of adventure about her so we
5589s really had to reflect that in the design
5591s as well so she kind of
5593s has a little bit of like a princess leia
5594s thing going on i think
5597s you know sort of like a space princess
5600s type thing where
5601s yeah she obviously loves loves
5603s adventuring but she also has a royal
5605s duty um
5608s yeah that's
5609s those are the main things we really
5610s discussed when we were talking uh like
5613s going between character and concept art
5617s and and what is your like favorite
5619s detail that you've brought to any
5621s characters you've worked on um i know
5623s you've worked even beyond these two
5624s characters and have you been part of
5626s reimagining of an existing model is that
5628s right

5635s oh yeah i made the demons
5641s this is why i have leading questions

5645s to help people out
5646s yeah no it's
5648s um
5649s it is really fun like i'd say
5652s the way i like to reimagine is just sort
5654s of think like
5656s when i was like younger playing a game
5659s what would have been really cool to see
5661s and like you know glowing deep like
5663s fight flames and stuff on demons like
5666s making stuff kind of really out there
5668s but not too over the top but like
5671s it's sort of just enough
5673s to make it really exciting um
5675s if that makes any sense

5679s yeah ajustair was
5681s she was my first character that i've
5683s made ever in industry
5686s that was like a
5687s sort of a really nice sort of personal
5690s not really a personal project but it i
5691s felt like i could put a lot of personal
5693s touch into it so i had a lot of contact
5695s with the concept artists
5697s um
5698s and yeah because it i i wanted something
5702s like really she i wanted her to be
5703s really cool really adventurous really
5705s beautiful
5706s so
5708s uh yeah i
5710s that's that's what i could i could think
5711s of for that no it's great and i i think
5713s there's you know we saw a lot of love
5715s for i just say for a while now i think
5716s people really love the design so and
5719s it's just great to have you on and talk

5728s a couple other things as much as i'd
5729s like to keep going um mod raven every
5732s quest has its rewards
5734s what can we expect for this one
5736s right uh so you've got the standard you
5738s get um a quest point uh you get uh xp i
5743s think it's thirty thousand
5745s what is it uh divination the thirty
5747s thousand archaeology
5749s um you also get um some weapon overrides
5752s which are the new diss weapon overrides
5754s which are very spangly
5757s and then you also get an upgrade to the
5760s infernal puzzle box
5764s the script literally tells me to go
5766s yeah well
5768s there you go see there's my screen right
5770s in action and yeah so that brings us on
5772s to inferno puzzle one now uh mod jack
5776s why don't you tell us what that is
5778s so this is uh this is like a reward that
5779s runs throughout the storyline think of
5781s it as like
5782s the um the pontifex ring from other god
5785s wars but like like the ponzi fix ring we
5788s kind of put together in retrospect um
5790s and we hadn't even planned to upgrade it
5791s in extinction which we eventually then
5793s put in after launch so this is kind of
5794s like the pontifex ring but in advance so
5796s it's like a reward that you get at the
5798s start and you upgrade you'll actually be
5800s able to get it you'll get it from the
5801s zamorak boss it's it's it's in the elite
5804s dungeon quite easy to get um or you can
5807s get it from completing the quest because
5808s we want to like like we don't expect
5810s like you know people who are quite low
5811s level we want them to be able to get on
5812s board with the storyline so we want two
5814s different ways of getting the uh the box
5816s but we also don't want people to have to
5817s wait so it has it has like bonuses on it
5820s um
5820s it sits in your backpack you get the
5822s bonuses when you've got in your backpack
5824s there will be an upgrade in the future
5825s that makes it more convenient to use but
5827s for now it's intentional that it takes
5828s out one of your backpack slots
5830s um
5831s think of it kind of like a mini comp
5833s cape for the storyline like it has
5835s achievements attached to it you complete
5836s like basically each update that comes
5838s out you'll complete an achievement for
5840s that update which then unlocks a bonus
5842s so it's kind of like a mini comp cape
5844s um
5845s and um you'll have to unlock like the
5847s different stages in order so you
5848s complete the pieces of content in order
5850s to unlock the next level of bonus we're
5852s trying to get stuff that's pretty worth
5853s having on it pretty soon we're not we're
5855s not talking about the upgrades that are
5856s on it but you'll find them out pretty
5857s soon um and they're things that are
5859s worth having rather than like minor
5860s miscellaneous bonuses um
5863s uh you will be able to complete it later
5865s it's not like time limited you can
5866s always just go and get it and complete
5868s it because you have to complete
5869s everything order and depending on the
5871s type of content it might be easier to
5872s complete the stages on launch
5874s um so like you know get in do do the
5877s updates as we release them upgrade your
5878s upgrade your infernal puzzle box as you
5880s go along um and you'll get all the
5882s rewards straight away basically
5885s brilliant
5886s um unfortunately that is all the time we
5888s have for door of chaos this is something
5890s that we wanted to make sure we talked to
5891s you about gave you a bit more
5892s information
5894s um and just kind of let you get a feel
5895s for the quest obviously we'll be talking
5896s about a bit more uh closer to release um
5899s it so this to be clear this doesn't come
5901s out alongside uh lord of chaos that's
5903s that update within the legacy of
5905s zamarak's storyline this is his own
5906s update uh within the legacy of zamaruq
5908s storyline

6260s for the legacy of zamarak storyline we
6262s are modernizing wilderness graphics and
6263s gameplay by making pvp optional as well
6266s as introducing a range of new pvm
6268s challenges these changes are going to
6270s give the wilderness a fresh new look
6272s opening up the area to more players and
6274s different experiences how we do this
6276s whilst maintaining the wilderness is
6277s threatening presence is the challenge
6279s after looking at npcs and content
6281s currently available it became very clear
6283s that without pvp there is no real danger
6286s with that in mind we will be looking to
6288s up the ante with a reworked mandrel
6290s slayer master and a load more
6292s challenging npcs that he can assign
6294s should you wish to engage in this slayer
6296s method you will be rewarded for doing so
6298s particularly with a brand new wilderness
6300s slayer drop table it's worth mentioning
6302s that all npcs will be aggressive
6304s multi-way combat and not lose aggression
6306s towards you regardless of how long
6307s you've been fighting if that isn't
6309s dangerous enough there'll be a new
6310s threat level system which will make
6312s things harder the longer you stay
6313s alongside this there will be some
6315s wilderness-wide dangers that will be out
6317s to get you so you can ensure that no
6319s corner of the wilderness will be truly
6320s safe
6323s along with the new pvm gameplay changes
6325s we're also improving the in-game visuals
6327s this will not only set the scene for the
6329s legacy of zamarak storyline but will act
6331s as a foundation for future content one
6333s of the main challenges for our is to
6335s ensure that all existing content remains
6337s unchanged and more importantly that all
6339s existing routes remain untouched we want
6342s the new wilderness to feel exciting and
6343s modern while also remaining familiar to
6346s achieve this we'll be adding all new
6347s light into the wilderness this will
6349s include new sky domes and our new shadow
6351s casting point lights for extra dramatic
6352s effect we're also building new terrain
6355s materials which keeps the barren rocky
6357s appearance while also reducing the
6358s amount of visual noise making drops even
6361s easier to see we've also remade several
6363s assets these include the new version of
6365s the sword of edicts and updated demon
6367s npc's display although we have kept the
6369s vast amount of magnum changed the crater
6371s and volcano have been modified to
6373s increase their scale and turn them into
6375s imposing features that tower over the
6377s landscape and yes you can climb the
6379s volcano lastly we'll add in new visual
6381s effects using our improved particle
6383s systems which give us new ways of
6384s creating mist ash and rain effects that
6386s look amazing
6390s with all these exciting changes and
6392s increased threat we've lent heavily into
6395s the hostile and desolate nature of the
6397s wilderness and leveled up our visuals to
6399s immerse you in this new world you can
6402s expect to see the primordial elements
6404s combined to enhance your sense of danger
6407s we've added aggressive rock formations
6410s ruins of ancient settlements and
6412s remnants of an ancient war long decayed
6414s and overgrown hot angry violent colours
6418s scorched earth and volcanic activity now
6420s dominate the landscape with fierce skies
6423s and echoes from the past to complete the
6425s picture we know you'll love the
6427s wilderness reborn with new graphics and
6429s gaming challenges it genuinely gives the
6432s wilderness a new lease of life

6445s legacy of zamarak that we've revealed

6448s lot of fun with that i know the original
6450s trailer that we put out on thursday only
6452s gave you a few glimpses there's a lot
6454s more in there and there's a lot more to

6462s um so uh mod jack just set things up
6465s finally revamping the wilderness like
6467s why now and how does this fit into the
6469s legacy of zamarak
6471s well this is yeah this is what we were
6473s saying about like trying to integrate
6474s the updates into the storyline right we
6475s can ship updates if we can ship the
6477s updates and tie them together
6478s thematically that's just cool it's the
6480s same amount of work but it's cooler so
6482s so like the wilderness used to be called
6484s foreign three it's like the site of
6485s zamarak's greatest crime against the
6488s people of gilano he set off the
6489s equivalent of a nuclear explosion and
6491s killed an enormous number of people
6492s including most of the eviancy it's also
6494s like at the time it was his stronghold
6496s and now it's also kind of his stronghold
6498s like the civilized regions are largely
6501s um occupied by sarah dominists but
6503s certainly in the update in the aftermath
6505s of the boss and the huge number of
6506s demons that he summoned the wilderness
6508s is like zamarak's place it's where his
6510s forces live his demons and and the
6512s alzheimer's have gone there um you know
6515s to secure themselves
6517s um so that's you know the type they fit
6519s together this this this idea of legacy
6521s of zamrak the boss fight the wilderness
6523s they all tie together quite nicely at
6524s thematic level you know the the enemies
6526s and so yeah like a concrete example that
6528s is we've graphically updated some some
6531s monster types for the boss fight which
6533s make thematic sense to now put into the
6535s wilderness as well so we get that kind
6536s of advantage by by tying updates
6538s together um i guess like the most
6541s important characteristic of the
6542s wilderness that we're trying to retain
6544s with this is the feeling that the
6545s wilderness is dangerous like that's
6547s that's the wilderness right it's
6548s dangerous some people would say it's pvp
6550s and that's fair but what the pvp does is
6552s create that sense of danger that's
6554s that's that's
6556s it makes it dangerous and it's that's
6557s the thing that we wanted to keep and
6559s like reinforce in this update because
6560s actually the wilderness hasn't been
6562s dangerous you could get pk'd so people
6564s don't go there you probably won't get
6566s pk'd because it's not really a very big
6567s part of our game anymore so it's about
6570s like bringing back that sense of danger
6572s and reinforcing that sense of danger
6573s through the core mechanics rather than
6575s just relying on on decaying we've talked
6577s in the past about potential other ideas
6579s for the wilderness like reclaiming the
6581s wilderness turning it green
6583s that sort of thing making it safe that's
6585s not what we're doing here this is this
6587s is reinforcing the zamaraki and doggy
6589s dog danger feel of the of the wilderness
6591s rather than sort of changing that
6594s um
6595s and then the i mean the other thing is
6596s like we know that people want to see the
6598s world like graphically updated and the
6599s wilderness is one of the most dated
6600s looking pizza parts of the game so it's
6602s an opportunity to like make it look a
6604s lot better add some more content revise
6606s the mechanics so it's more relevant
6608s it's been kind of a dead zone unless
6610s you're going there to do something
6611s incredibly specific there's just no
6612s reason to go there we don't put content
6614s there
6615s so it just kind of you know opens up the
6617s wilderness of somewhere that can be part
6618s of the game again basically
6621s yeah and i love see you know i think
6623s there's a lot of questions that us
6625s announcing this has generated even after
6626s the video right like we're talking about
6628s threat systems and about all these ways
6630s that we're trying to keep that feeling
6631s and i think like there's a lot of
6633s questions out there about what does that
6634s mean like how is that going to work so
6636s much i know you're representing the the
6638s team at the moment here and a variety of
6640s people are working on this as we work
6641s towards it
6643s we saw it we kind of have some first
6644s indications from that video about the
6646s kind of ways we're trying to maintain it
6647s but to go into detail what is this
6650s threat system that we've had mentioned
6652s um what are we trying to achieve with it
6654s and how does it escalate to kind of
6656s capture that feeling we're talking about
6657s wanting to have
6659s yeah so uh yeah the threat system is
6661s about keeping the wilderness scary um
6664s it's about it staying scary uh before i
6666s get into too much detail um this is all
6669s everything we're about to show you and
6670s say um it's very work in progress um
6673s we're actually gonna jump into work in
6674s progress now i think as well sorry mr
6676s disrupt as well so this is all work in
6678s progress right everything we show today
6680s is very much work in progress
6682s yeah very much so um
6684s cool so inside the reborn wilderness um
6687s there's gonna be a combination of
6688s monsters um and the wilderness volcano
6691s itself
6692s um mean you'll always have to be ready
6693s for the unexpected there might be no pvp
6697s but you'll still have to keep a watch on
6698s what you're doing you're not going to be
6700s afking here or you might be killed
6702s so when you at first enter the
6704s wilderness your threat level will start
6705s at zero
6707s and the longer you stay and the more
6708s activities you do it's going to go up
6711s it's going to rise
6712s um it's kind of
6714s in some ways similar to the corruption
6716s mechanic in sofonum slayer dungeon but
6718s not the same the higher your threat
6720s level the more damage you take and the
6721s more damage you deal
6723s so there are benefits to staying in the
6724s wilderness for lengths of time but
6726s you'll need to weigh that up with the
6727s danger approaching
6729s um you can decrease your threat level
6732s through there's some new rewards that'll
6734s let you do that or by just leaving the
6736s wilderness and re-entering you'll again
6738s start at zero
6740s um so what does it do the threat level
6742s it increases your chances of being
6743s attacked by monsters that just spawn out
6746s of nowhere um
6748s and of the wilderness volcano actually
6751s just erupting in your direction it's
6753s just going to spew danger at you
6756s and the damage that you take from that
6758s volcanic projectile will scale with your
6760s threat level um it's going to hit you
6763s pretty hard at high threat levels but
6765s you'll be able to reduce that damage by
6767s praying
6768s if you pray with the right prayer
6770s so you've got to keep an eye on that
6771s make sure you're ready to have volcanoes
6773s attack you
6775s um spawning mobs will scale to your
6777s combat level um but high threat levels
6779s you'll get some tougher challenges
6781s coming your way
6784s that's kind of a very quick fly through
6786s of where we are at with the threat
6788s system at the moment and we have these
6790s things called sprint reviews where a lot
6791s of the team kind of show their work in
6793s progress and stuff and let me tell you
6794s some of the high threat um spawns i've
6797s seen come in um scared me as a player
6800s like it's like just absolute carnage uh
6803s i think it was even some it's all work
6804s in progress but i think there's even
6805s abby laws and stuff being spawned so it
6807s was crazy
6808s um can we show the volcano um in action
6811s is that possible to show the uh the hit
6813s coming in
6814s um and just the yeah so you can see
6816s there that's the that's how the volcano
6818s looks and the color indicates what
6819s you're meant to pray against right
6822s yeah i think so yeah
6824s and uh
6826s if it does the damage increase with the
6828s threat level or is it standardized
6831s no it goes up and the higher the
6839s the longer you're in the wilderness
6842s yeah so basically what you're telling me
6843s is the longer i'm in the wilderness the
6845s more
6846s the more often i'm gonna attack by the
6847s volcano the harder it's going to hit and
6848s then also i've got more and more
6850s difficult mobs spawning on top of me
6852s not to kill me right essentially coming
6854s to gangplank
6856s oh and uh is do that are those the ones
6859s who spawned toby they like every other
6860s monster in the wilderness now where
6862s they're aggressive at all times there's
6864s no kind of switch off of that aggression
6865s they're all in the same boat as well no
6867s yeah it's they're all completely
6868s aggressive they are coming to attack you
6870s specifically um it's multi-way combat so
6873s um
6874s they're all going to come and attack you
6875s on the video here we've got a ripper
6877s demon coming to attack you so yeah
6879s ripper demons are just going to appear
6880s where you're trying to you know do what
6882s you're doing slaying or whatever and
6884s you're just getting attacked by a ripper
6886s demon
6888s it might not also just be one ripper
6889s demon it might be a lot
6893s yeah i think that i saw some crazy
6894s numbers of things that it was scary um
6897s and again remember the still working
6898s process as well so we're still also play
6899s testing and working out what the right
6900s feeling is and the right threat for each
6902s thing as well so all the balancing and
6904s stuff is very much work in progress too
6906s and there's an acronym
6909s okay
6910s so i'm sitting here going like uh
6912s so um why am i ever gonna go into the
6914s wilderness if like if staying in there
6917s really scared like it gets that painful
6919s like what's
6920s what's the way we're trying to make the
6921s wilderness more relevant again so that
6923s this risk
6925s does that
6927s and how are we trying to you're supposed
6928s to die
6930s i mean it was a great it's a great
6932s demonstration
6936s uh cool so yeah why are you gonna go
6938s into the wilderness um so essentially
6941s mandrith our favorite wilderness slayer
6943s master
6944s he's moved into the deep wilderness and
6946s he's changed slayer which we expect and
6949s hope is going to make will the wilde
6951s area the whole landscape the best place
6953s to train slayer you're going to be
6954s getting kind of the best slayer points
6957s um in there uh so the same as a current
6959s there are slayer tasks that are
6960s exclusively completed inside the
6962s wilderness
6963s and at the same time as doing all these
6965s slayers slayer tasks you've got to deal
6967s with threat system
6970s so for those tasks there are more of
6971s each monster in its spawn location and
6974s as i mentioned previously it's all
6976s multi-way combat
6977s so you know it could be a much quicker
6979s slayer task you just get through it
6981s really quickly or you could just get
6983s overwhelmed
6984s you know you're going to have to be
6986s careful about what you're doing but um
6988s it should be best best slayer training
6991s methods um inside the wilderness
6993s um the rewards are great uh you'll get
6996s the best slayer point payout um and
6998s there are also going to be chances uh
7000s for reaper points to be earned in the
7002s wilderness slayer tasks as well
7004s um there's a new uh reward table
7008s which includes some awesome items like
7011s reaper refreshes
7013s or maybe some death touch darts um so
7016s yeah some really cool stuff going to be
7018s coming in with that rewards table
7022s yeah so hopefully you'll go into the
7024s wilderness to train slayer
7025s yeah really good i saw a lot of people
7027s excited about uh def touch darts and
7029s roof points especially as well
7030s um
7031s and um just to confirm one little thing
7033s with you know the really risk reward
7036s slayer experience it kind of sounds like
7037s we're going for with this
7039s um what about war bands just for any war
7041s bands fans out there are they gonna be
7043s still pvp or are they going away like
7045s what are we doing warbands within the
7046s world
7047s so yeah warband's staying in the
7049s wilderness they are still going to be
7050s pvp
7051s i think pvp is going to be opt in we
7053s haven't exactly

7079s wilderness is getting a refresh
7080s graphically right as you mentioned on
7082s jack it's an opportunity for us to bring
7084s up an old standard to an old area to a
7086s new standard i love when we do this i
7088s know many people out there do too now
7090s while black which i know you're kind of
7091s representing a team of people today on
7092s this front because it was a difficult
7094s time to do a stream there's a lot of
7095s people summer holidays and uh taking
7097s their well-deserved holidays and breaks
7099s with the hard work they've been doing
7100s but can you tell us a little bit about
7102s the vision for this wilderness reflesh
7104s as we kind of bounce around all these
7105s redone areas again work in progress
7108s yeah absolutely yeah i think
7111s the entire environment team has has
7113s worked on this at like different points
7116s and so definitely lots of different
7118s people have worked on it but yeah
7120s basically what we wanted to do is rework
7123s the wilderness in a way that it's very
7125s recognizably still the wilderness we
7127s didn't want to like change it we just
7129s wanted to bring it up to our current
7131s standards
7132s while also
7133s getting a bit more of like the feeling
7135s of threat in there as well and ideally
7138s when we could also try and make it feel
7140s just like a lot bigger and more daunting
7142s and then than what it was before because
7147s what is there at the moment is currently
7148s like quite flat and grey so try to try
7152s to kind of achieve that with having like
7153s a very imposing um skye over it and just
7157s having like this fog and
7161s reworking areas for runescape is a
7164s challenge to say say the least because
7167s like so much goes into it it's not we
7169s can't just put like a team of artists on
7171s it and just let them rework it because
7174s sometimes you might just like
7176s move i don't know a crate or a barrel
7178s and who knows what kind of content you
7180s just broke with all of that so basically
7183s getting something like this to work is
7185s is such a big team effort
7187s so that's why
7189s we couldn't we still had to change
7190s everything the same footprint we had to
7192s keep the same footprint but where we
7195s very good we tried to work in like a
7197s little bit more impressive areas for
7200s example the volcano
7202s can we go to that now actually by the
7204s way we have to scale the volcano come on
7206s it's unbelievable this thing
7209s first
7211s i saw a con confusion about that earlier
7213s with the volcano the one that we were
7214s talking about we don't actually mean the
7215s greater which sort of edicts is
7217s but
7218s it's very understandable that there's
7220s confusion about that because in live
7221s game the actual volcano that is there
7223s does not look like a volcano
7226s is
7227s three pools of lava on a tiny tiny hill
7230s so we really try to make it feel like
7232s big imposing and epic we're very good
7235s so obviously this is a massive change
7238s from from what was there
7239s um but then yeah also the wilderness
7243s crater itself in in this version also
7245s got a bit bit of an update it's higher
7247s up it has like lots of spiky rocks with
7250s it as well just to make it feel feel a
7251s lot more epic
7254s so i love those new lava effects as well
7256s and um i don't know if this is confirmed
7258s i might be accidentally saying something
7260s i shouldn't but you can climb that thing
7261s right from what
7263s you you can
7264s you can go to the top of the of the
7266s volcano
7267s i think it's the other way
7269s someone said please climb it will take a
7270s while trust me it's actually takes quite
7273s a lot of time
7275s i'm not entirely sure what way it is
7276s like the volcano was like completely

7322s of the differences that this one has
7323s visually compared to the one verified
7325s zone reckon yeah please do we did take a
7328s little bit of creative liberty as well

7333s it's definitely like built for for that
7336s fight which is why it is it's quite flat
7338s like i touched on earlier but it's not
7339s the most interesting looking visually if
7341s you just put it in an environment you
7342s just have the smart one so this one has
7345s like a lot more hydra going on in it a
7347s lot
7348s basically we almost imagined it like
7350s what would it look like after you fought
7352s a god in it
7354s probably a lot better than what was
7355s there
7360s so yeah really really really cool i love
7361s this area obviously sort of eating's got
7363s a complete rework as well which turned
7365s out beautiful
7368s uh now just before i ask some final
7370s questions and we talk a little bit about
7371s pvp because i know that's a hot topic
7373s for some of you out there on the stream
7375s um do we want to show a super high fret
7377s level very work in progress uh put the
7381s fear into people without the words of
7383s this uh because if we've got the command
7385s there i think when people see this it's
7387s uh
7388s i'm probably causing chaos to stream
7390s right now again caveat work in progress
7392s you know we're still tweaking balancing
7394s checking out what makes sense um that
7397s includes things from if everything
7398s spawns in at once or kind of trickles in
7400s so you can like go oh crap and run
7403s um
7404s but uh
7405s i mean death mechanics as well is
7407s something that we're still looking at um
7408s this i noticed several people asking
7410s like do you actually just lose all this
7412s gear um
7414s it's likely that without pvp on you
7417s won't
7418s like it'll just be standard death rolls
7419s because the threat is supposed to be
7421s that you die and lose your threat level
7423s not that you lose everything but we'll
7425s need that's that's one of the things
7426s that we'll be looking at play testing
7427s and and could be could be changed
7431s level
7433s yeah and don't forget
7435s we'll be talking about this in more
7436s detail closer to release when these
7437s things get finalized and we can give you
7439s that but uh yeah i think chat is
7441s realizing what
7443s what you said about high fret level uh
7445s and don't pretend you're good mod sphere
7447s we know that uh this is you've got
7449s infinite hp on we see that
7451s i've seen what you're getting splashed

7460s uh we've announced it as being opt-in
7462s what does that mean right now in terms
7465s of where we are in development where our
7466s kind of yeah you'll be so the current
7468s system we have is that you can choose to
7469s turn pvp on and if you choose to turn
7471s pvp on and someone else just turned pvp
7472s on you can pvp each other um
7475s there will be an incentive i saw a lot
7477s of people asking like is there any point
7478s in turning pvp on there will be an
7480s incentive the details of that aren't
7481s finalized it's likely to be focused
7483s around similar to the demonic skull so
7484s some similar people are asking like
7486s how's the demonic skull it's likely that
7487s the demonic skull is pvp like you can't
7490s demonics go without pvp and if you have
7493s pvp on you get the demonic score bonuses
7495s it won't have the same costs associated
7496s with it probably but that's the kind of
7498s thing that we're looking at play testing
7499s and balancing um
7501s we're going to have to talk about it
7502s closer to release i think because we
7503s don't have the final details of that but
7505s the the short version is yes there will
7507s be a reason to choose to turn pvp on
7509s and you will be able to you know toggle
7511s it on
7513s we'll have to we'll have to keep an eye
7514s on it and see how it plays out
7516s um so chat i'm sure you have a few
7519s questions we're getting to the near the
7520s end of the stream here we've got time
7522s for a couple again bear in mind we may

7526s we are play testing i do have a few

7532s uh how are we changing the revenant cave

7538s i think that the threat rules apply even
7541s in okay so we're not we're not changing
7543s the content for the most part i believe
7545s that the way that the threat works is it
7547s will affect you even in caves i don't
7548s know whether the volcano does i'm not
7550s 100 sure but monsters can still spawn on
7552s you i think because you're in the
7553s wilderness still
7555s are we going to lift the tele
7556s restrictions past level 30 with pvp off
7558s or are we currently thinking of keeping
7560s that
7562s i think it's being kept but i'm not 100
7564s sure um
7566s no i might be wrong on that actually so
7568s the the design philosophy behind it
7569s essentially is it's kind of like a push
7570s or luck kind of idea as your threat goes
7573s up your reward goes up but also your
7574s risk goes up and and the idea is kind of
7577s you can choose to not have your threat
7578s go up if you want by just leaving
7581s but if you do that you don't get the
7582s risk and you don't get the reward so
7583s that's kind of that's kind of the idea
7586s um so in that regard the teleport
7588s restrictions don't matter so much
7589s because it's not about you trapped it's
7591s about choosing to stay and choosing to
7593s put yourself in danger
7596s um i saw a question here actually uh oh
7598s sorry and the comment here that i
7599s thought was gonna hurt
7600s said people might do wilderness survival
7602s records i mean that'll kind of be a
7604s thing that comes out of this right is
7606s how long can you continue streaking in
7608s the wilderness before you die
7609s yeah we don't currently track it across
7612s tasks at the moment the threat is
7614s balanced such that if you can complete
7615s like essentially your threat ramps up
7617s over the course of a single slayer task
7619s and completing one slayer task is kind
7621s of the challenge because we saw it as
7622s like combat that's this high intensity
7625s and this risky isn't something we want
7627s you to grind for five hours it's
7628s something we want you to do so it's
7630s balanced such that you can do your i
7632s think a 50th task in the wilderness so
7634s you do your 49 tasks outside the
7636s wilderness do your 50th in the
7637s wilderness for the higher reward and
7639s then go back outside the wilderness
7640s again we see it as kind of like a place
7642s that you come occasionally for some
7644s high-risk high-intensity gameplay rather
7646s than somewhere where you just sit and
7647s grind all day every day um
7649s so we don't currently track like i think
7652s number of tasks completing the
7653s wilderness but i'll know that down
7655s actually um i don't see why we couldn't
7657s just track it wouldn't be remedied but i
7660s don't see why we couldn't just track it
7662s as a number
7664s uh and will you get front level if pvp
7666s is on in our current designs
7670s yes your threat accumulates from slayer
7673s tasks it doesn't accumulate
7674s automatically over time it accumulates
7676s as you complete your snail task we may
7677s also modify it so that other pvp
7679s activities also increase your threat
7681s level as well
7682s but so just hanging around pvp and won't
7685s automatically make your throw increase
7689s brilliant okay well thank you very much
7691s as i said we're we're very much in
7693s um production on this at the moment my
7696s jacket is when are we currently
7697s expecting this wilderness kind of reborn
7699s to release is it going to be all in one
7701s update is it over many like what's how
7703s does this so this is how we're training

7706s so this the wilderness reborn update
7708s with the graphical rework and the slayer
7709s changes and the pvp changes will be
7710s coming in august with the sort of chaos
7712s quest the daughter of chaos partially
7714s takes place in the wilderness so they
7715s have to ship together so they're coming
7717s out together there will be more
7719s like the point of this update
7722s is to is to allow the wilderness to have
7724s content placed in it so there will be
7725s more content in the wilderness later in
7727s the year this is just like the initial
7730s update and making sure there's something
7731s to do there um but it it's kind of like
7734s uh freeing the zone up rather than like
7736s a huge huge content expansion in its own
7738s right so there'll be more to come
7739s um in the wilderness later
