So, I just got scammed 70m with no proof of what happened. I'm upset with myself, but not asking for it back. Of course, requests like that get ignored. And this post isn't about the money, except that it was the catalyst for the following suggestion.
I wish to request that Jagex make trades more documented to the player in the chat logs. I've been playing for 15 years and I've seen more effort put into the GUI than the documentation itself. All we get as a receipt of trade is sending the offer and completing the trade. My suggestion is to document every step of a trade for the player's comprehension, so it may be reviewed before the second accept screen. Details like who you've started the trade with, which items are being added and removed from the trade in real-time, and a final itemized list of what was traded.
Examples of improvement:
"You've sent Shauny a trade offer..." vs. "Sending trade offer..."
"Shauny added 23 x Dragon Bones", "Shauny removed 16 x Dragon Bones", "You added 20,000 coins", "You removed 5,000 coins"
"You are trading Shauny:
15,000 coins
Shauny is trading you:
7 x Dragon Bones"
"Your trade with Shauny is complete!"
And if Jagex would prefer to take the GUI route, then build a trade history system similar to the GE history. I don't think that's too much of a request, right? And this is beneficial for ALL players. The weakest point in account security has always been the user. That's just social-engineering 101, so Jagex might as well help players protect their investments, especially when they are now allowing players to sink real money into their game.
Thanks for listening, comments are welcome.
