Logged into the launcher and I thought that I was already using Jagex accounts, but I guess not. So I did the sign up thing. I clicked to sign up in game using my alternate account first and it sent me to a whole login page, so I assumed it didn't matter that I had used my alt first. I use my mains credentials and go through the process. It said I had another account to link, but it showed me a string of numbers and letters and I was unsure if it was mine or just some error so I denied it thinking I didn't want to steal some poor random persons account by accident. I then try to login to my alt for the program, but it appears that the Jagex account thinks that this is my alternate account as evidence by the name and membership date left on it. When closing the launcher and opening it, it opens up to my main account, but now I cannot access my alt which I have put quite a lot of effort and money into. The site appears very bugged and refuses to accept the alternate information, even after changing its password to be sure, it just says it's wrong when trying to link it.

I'm not really clear on your issue - but I believe you have upgraded to a Jagex account and now can't see your alt listed in the Jagex Launcher?

To fix this simply log out of all accounts in the Jagex Launcher and then log in with your Jagex email address and password. You can then link your main account at account.jagex.com.

On the unknown account, there is a verification step so any accounts you might have created and forgotten in the past will be yours.

Due to a bug in the sign up process (I only signed up once) - both my accounts have their own separate Jagex accounts now and I must log into each one through the launcher individually to access them. I am told that this cannot be fixed through my end and must be done so through someone at Jagex.

If you have only signed up once you only have one jagex account. If you have accidentally signed up twice, that is the only way to have two accounts. I am not aware of any bug where you might be able to accidentally create an account.

If you contact our support team they can verify and help, forwarding onto my team if necessary.

I did only sign up once, the only additional sign up I did was within the Jagex Account of "linking a character" which failed to work. But a support member on the discord suggested I log out of the account and log into the other and they both seem to count as being Jagex Accounts now.

I'm not quite sure where the confusion is coming in but you have indeed created two Jagex accounts. That is with the assumption both accounts you created have the same Jagex Account Name.

My best guess is you attempted to upgrade from the RuneScape account settings twice, rather than adding your second account to your first Jagex account via account.jagex.com and the 'Import Existing' on the Characters page.

If you have further details on what you believe to be a bug creating two accounts, please share because we can't fix what we can't reproduce. From our perspective, the accounts I believe you created are both separate and have no issues in their creation.

I assure you, I only did the account creation process once. The linking character thing was done pressing the big blue Import Existing Character button. Which called it as an error. Before this, my launcher had both characters. Now they are each in their own launcher.

You can replicate this I suppose by having two accounts on a launcher, opening both, going to the second account on the golden cape hunt, pressing upgrade account and then filling out the first accounts information in order to replicate this. That's all I did before the issue arrived and I've since taken some steps as suggested through the runescape discord in order to get on both.

As an additional detail can you please get somebody to fix this for me. I would like both on the same account. Otherwise the launcher has just become an even more annoying form of logging into my accounts.

I'm eager to figure out what has gone on here, I've tried to reproduce from your instructions all afternoon but am still correctly being sent through the Jagex account creation flow as I would expect. Let me know if the steps below look familiar.

  • Log my RuneScape accounts AccountA and AccountB into the Jagex Launcher
  • Click Play on both accounts so I have two game clients open
  • On the account listed second in the Jagex Launcher (AccountB) go to the 'Event' tab in-game and click 'Upgrade Now'
  • (This opens my default browser to https://www.jagex.com/en-GB/accounts (language may be different but is irrelevant))
  • Click 'Upgrade now' on the webpage
  • When prompted to login despite clicking the Event tab on AccountB you enter the RuneScape username & password for AccountA
  • Complete the upgrade flow by entering a new email address, password, Jagex account name etc.
  • Confirm an account has been created by being on https://account.runescape.com/en-GB/game with AccountB being shown under '1 of 20 characters linked'
  • In an Incognito browser, go to https://account.runescape.com/en-GB/game and enter the login credentials for AccountA.
  • Notice that you are logged into a second Jagex account with AccountA linked to this unknown Jagex account

I have tried variations on this process myself, including entering the credentials for AccountC on the default browser step and was correctly sent through the flow. When you click 'Upgrade now' from the game, nothing special is stored in your browser and you can visit that webpage without entering via the game to have the exact same experience as someone getting there via the game.

If we can't figure out whats gone on, I'm afraid I cannot help and can only recommend you follow the guides on our Support Centre, as a developer I can't provide customer support - especially via Reddit.
