Backstory/Context:

I am a long time player of Runescape who has not spent a lot of time on the new RS3 generation. Due to the quarantine, I have had more time to explore RS and kindle the old flame. One of the first things I've noticed was how useful some of the dungeneering reward items were for skilling. I watched a couple videos, did "Ed1" a few times to get the autoheater and have been training mining and smithing non-stop. I am still getting used to the new features, interfaces and mechanics and ultimately ignorance is what led to my downfall.

Here is what happened:

I wanted to take a break from mining and do some more ed1. I looked up a couple of combat guides to help me choose gear and set up the action bar. I then went to the ge and ended up buying the base level tectonic, a nox staff, sign of life, souls amulet, cinderbane gloves, rune pouch, and virus boots.

Within 2 minutes a guy at the ge asked me if i wanted to be the 3rd person for his group for ed1. I was already going there so I said sure. I had no idea what he meant by join the group but he walked me through it. It was here that I learned you can join groups using an interface for certain mini-games. He then said he could teleport us to the temple doors when we are all ready. When we were all ready, he said he can't do the teleport because he didn't finish a quest. He seemed apologetic and gave me 10 blood runes and 10 law runes. He said if I'm using the ancient spellbook I can just use the "A" teleport in the book and it will spawn us close to the temple....it did not. Quite the contrary actually, we ended up balls deep in the wilderness. Upon my sudden realization, I froze for about 5 seconds out of confusion. I tried to log out but it was too late. They started attacking and stunning me and eventually I ran out of food.

What did I learn?

1). I thought you could no longer lose items dying in the wilderness.I thought that's why people were not attacking each other when they were out there mining. That is no longer the case lol. I

1-A). I thought i would at least keep 3 items. (I was definitely confusing that with regular death.)

2). I had a legendary pet equipped with the ability "lifesaver". (I learned this does not work in the wilderness/pvp.)

3). I had a sign of life equipped...which...you know...apparently doesn't work in the wilderness either.

Main question:

Maybe I am missing something... but every single item I was wearing was non trade-able at the time. When non trade-able items are dropped don't they just disappear? Lmao please tell me they at least got something from this. I hope i didn't just get wrecked for the sake of getting wrecked...

TLDR: Either they can profit from non-trade-able items...or I got wrecked for fun.

Hey there,

I've looked into this a little bit. Currently it's part of a setting
Miscelanios -> doomslayer warnings -> Wilderness Entry

So the quick fix is turn this back on to be prompted with a warning before you teleport.

This settings both regulates manually climbing over the barrier as well as teleports into the wildy.

Some other teleports, the lvl 19 wildy Teleport & wildy lode stone fore example, will still have an additional warning. We'll get a feedback job in to smooth this out and make it more consistent, so that we can hopefully stop more wilderness lures!
