My thoughts from 5-6 hours of the new boss yesterday:
- The fight is really fun. It's got positional mechanics and prayer switch, but neither are too complicated to make the fight frustrating. I like that you can skip the lightning phases as a DPS check, or use the timewarp to avoid them, which means I find myself improvising each fight rather than trying to hold to a strict mechanics-dependent rotation.
- The Timewarp extra action is a really cool/engaging way to incorporate the time powers of the needle, and gives the player a powerful feeling "tech" to raise the skill level of the fight without relying on equipment/ability powercreep.
- I did the hardmode for a few hours with clanmates and it was great figuring out the mechanics and coordinating to improve. I liked that the fight is easier with teamwork, but doesn't punish your team too hard if you mess up (unlike ambassador for example, where everyone needs to be on-point with stuns and purple clouds etc) . I was really surprised to learn you can rejoin the fight after you died, but that led to some hilarious and harrowing kills were someone would rejoin just in time to keep the boss open.
- The voice acting for Kerapac is really good, both contemptuous at the start and desperately sad at the end. It's genuine and fitting.
- The music is sooooo good oh my god. Even just doing some chill normal mode fights still feels ominous. It's definitely up there for me with the other greats like 'Angel of Death", "Anima", and "Blackstone Scales".
Overall it's a great experience and really shows how much effort went into it. I am pretty hyped for the rest of the Fronts.
