When he asks you to put the mattock on your tool belt the pop up guide says 'Left click the mattock to add it to your tool belt' however left click equips it - this needs changing to 'Right click the mattock to add it to your tool belt'

Are you able to confirm that you did one of the two things mentioned above?
During the tutorial you are given a special bronze mattock (it's specifically for the tutorial) which doesn't have an equip option on it.
I'm guessing that you brought your own bronze mattock with you which isn't the tutorial one, as that does have an equip option on it.
