Roadmap is being worked on in ms paint, art takes time
Hey look, everyone gets very easily distracted by holding the spray can button until the circle fills, OK? It's just part of the process.
Well that's a bit disappointing but can't say that my hopes were high.
Time to wait for the February content update and hop back to other games until then.
Mod Keeper is aiming to give an update later this week to shed some more light on what's going on and what to expect looking forward. This won't be in the same format as the Development Updates we shared throughout last year, but we want to respond with more detail and give you info.
We're also working on getting together a livestream very soon to show you all some of what's on the agenda for February and March with the developers - I'm finalising the list of mods stopping by and we're aiming to have a stream this Friday, but we didn't lock it into the TWIR until the details have all been finalised.
We're all super excited to be speaking to you about what's on the horizon, so we're super glad to be getting closer to sharing the details. Happy Monday! Have a great week.
hahaa. Yet another quirky comment from Mod Doom, yet we are 1/12th through the year with no content to show for it, and asking for a roadmap as a sign that there is something at the end of this wild rainbow is made fun of.
Boy I wish I could quit this game.
Implying that we're making the roadmap in MS Paint is made fun of, asking for an update isn't! You gotta let me have my quirky comments, it's all I have left anymore. In any case, I've already shared this under another comment but hey, what's the harm in posting it here too?
Mod Keeper is aiming to give everyone an update later this week to shed some more light on what's going on and what to expect looking forward. This will be a higher level view of what's to come, and won't take the same format as the Development Updates you saw last year.

I guess this adds a little positivity to all this boring, non-update worthy stuff. MTX is horrendous. Mod Keeper getting involved means something must be happeninng. Ir really makes me wonder how much of the Content was tied to Hero Pass to see this much of a content drought
That's good to hear - Mod Keeper and the whole team are keen to make sure we're delivering on our aims for this year so we want to make sure we're doing things right.
Not gonna lie Doom, everything is kinda looking grim, so the updates coming "soon" are hopefully good. Any chance I could get you to pass on that collection log osrs style would be a massively popular thing? ;) It just have to have the currently tracked items like boss, clue and slayer logs etc ported over. Pretty please <3
I have been asking the team about the Collection Log for a while now, but I will give it another nudge, for sure!
The only time I've seen Mod Keeper is whenever there's a community unrest (for example, Hero Pass & what you mention above).
Why is that? I hope this comment doesn't come across as rude; that truly isn't my intention. I just find it extremely disappointing that the community doesn't have a front facing EP.
It's not a rude question at all, but the TL;DR is that Mod Keeper is heavily invested in supporting the team behind the scenes and leaving it to us to be the "front facing" part of the team. That's something I'm very comfortable doing and we have lots of lovely mods who are also ok with being on streams so we have a lot of player-facing JMods. (Lots of them active on our various platforms, too!)
We've had Mod Keeper weighing in on a lot of messages around updates (he was very actively involved and directly communicating with myself and the Community Team throughout) but generally is more focused on the day-to-day operational aspect which means that we see more movement from them internally than externally. That's not to say Mod Keeper isn't always watching though! Regularly, we see Mod Keeper acknowledging posts, tweets, updates from all our platforms and they take a very active interest in things like the weekly and monthly reports that I produce for the team to give them a broader view of the RuneScape community.
I'm eager for us to be able to bring the team out more (Including Mod Keeper) to talk about big things that we're excited about, too! Here's to more opportunities to do that throughout this year.
Can we quickly take the time gate off the Myreque memorial miniquest and achievement. No need to wait 10 days when I could build them all at once
FWIW, over a few of 2023's gamejams, I did a big cleanup of various quest requirements, which included removing this Memorial to the Myreque timegate and some other adjacent points of questing friction (eg moved the Archaeology collector prompt on some quest NPCs into their dialogue tree).
That gamejam project completed localisation over Christmas, so it's in the pipe and I'm hopeful it'll release in the coming months.
Why? Why did the removal of Hero Pass cause so much of a disruption to the future of the game, to the point it has delayed any roadmap? This makes it sound like Hero Pass WAS the future of the game. Not a good look.
No, it was not the future of the game at all - but it did serve to confirm the thinking that we needed to (and continue to) make major changes to how we approach being "player-driven" and embedding player voice earlier into development. It's a big change to how we work!
The team are super receptive and eager to hear feedback and start conversations (such as the Necromancy questions I asked recently, or the Combat Beta, or the Community Hitlist survey) so that we can help make things really resonate and have a bigger impact.
Is this the announcement of an upcoming announcement of what is coming?
This is an announcement confirming that the above comment was, in fact, an announcement of the upcoming announcement about what's coming.
Hey Doom, serious question but I don't quite understand what you're saying here.
The team are super receptive and eager to hear feedback
Hasn't there time and time again been negative responses about hero pass, that people thought it was a bad idea and to not implement it and whatnot. And then it STILL gets implemented, during the whole heropass debacle there hasn't been one thing that said "Eager to hear feedback"
When you say time and time again, do you mean the few days between us showing it to players and it going into the game? Because that was a very small timeframe compared to the project's entire duration from conception to implementation.
I can tell you one "thing" that was eager to hear feedback, and it was the team! I was here every day speaking to players, getting feedback and trying to negotiate that feedback all the way up the chain to the team so we could make informed decisions on what needed to change with Hero Pass. We were putting together Player Panels for feedback, which were going to be meeting regularly to help us refine proposed changes and improve the systems, and since then we've maintained a lot of that conversational structure with the examples I gave above - our swathe of Surveys including the Community Hitlist, the Combat Beta and coming to the players to ask questions are all part of the same ethos of being "eager to hear feedback" so I hope that helps shed some light on that.
Thanks for the response!
I don't really think the "..do you mean the few days between us showing it to players and it going into the game.." is a very good argument here.. It quite literally shows the poor decision making on the way and the lack of respect there is for the players.
So basically this extremely pay to win, fomo "content" that was literally designed to be only completable by 30% of your playerbase was designed, coded and implemented over months of time without a SINGLE opportunity by the playerbase to think something about it? Then in the couple days we did have we said "Don't do this", and was done anyway and caused one of the most community backlash events in the games history.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking you or anyone personally but you must be able to see why we as a playerbase are so tired and exhausted to time and time again be disappointed these days and feel like we are just blatantly ignored.
Well, to challenge one point you've made there - the 30% figure was the expected number of players who would finish the pass without ever actually completing a Mission or deviating from their standard gameplay behaviours - the reception was very clear, and we in the Community team forwarded the feedback very directly to the team, but we were also very keen for players to get their hands on it first before we made any changes, because how it looks on paper and how it feels to play with are different, as with any change.
But, of course, that was almost 5 months ago now. Since then, could I ask if you feel that you have been blatantly ignored? Have there been changes that you have wanted to see come through the Community Hitlist or had feedback about the Combat Beta that you wanted to see implemented? Would be interesting to hear if anything has changed, and if not - what tweaks or feedback we can address in the near future!
