So I made the jump from osrs a few days ago and am loving it so far. I haven't played the main game since 2009 and had forgotten what email I used so I am restarting.

Anyways I'm just feeling overwhelmed on all of the info being thrown at me at once. I thought about going for quest cape as a first goal.. Or should I do something different? Back when I played, questing was the most efficient early lvling.. Not sure if that changed.

There are so many new training methods I don't know about.. Just feeling overwhelmed. I like to be as efficient as possible when I play. Any tips for a beginner are welcome :)

My advice.

Step back. Relax. Breathe.

What do you want out of the game? There's no right or wrong way to play runescape (yes reddit, you heard me, you can still enjoy yourself inefficiently).

Do you want to delve into the stories? Quests are a good way to go, start with the blood pact and then follow your quest list. Quests are a good way to level and they'll teach you about the game and the world quite nicely.

Do you want to focus on PvE? Then get some gear and go do slayer. Murder creatures in droves and work your way up to the giant mole, then from there expand to other bosses. Try your hand at the elite dungeons in story mode first and then you'll be better prepared for the dungeons proper.

Want a more laid back approach? What's your favourite skill? Do you want to craft your own gear? Mining and smithing (have you heard about the mining and smithing update?) has been reworked, so it's now easier and more engaging to dive in. So you can dive in and craft yourself some decent equipment to make your adventures easier. Want to have a relaxed increase in numbers, try your hand at Manor Farm, Granny's farm is relatively sedate but with some optional complexity in there if you want to create your ideal farm.

Personally I would go for quests. They're fun, engaging, rewarding and they'll help you level your other skills so you can take part in other activities if you'd prefer. But ultimately the choice is yours, RuneScape is vast and there's a LOT of content there, but you don't NEED to focus on efficiency, focus on what you find fun.

Mod raven, I just wanted to say I love everything you do. I literally read that in your voice, in the same way you talked in the month ahead video a while back.
