Elite Dungeons, particularly Temple of Aminishi and Shadow Reef, are amazing. They combine higher level mobs with good gp, good combat xp, fair dunge xp, and token farming. All-in-all, they are purely awesome. However, this creates a problem.

New players and low level players now use this as a way to skyrocket through combat levels and access token rewards earlier than previously. Leeching elite dungeons from higher level players has become a common thing in the game. The level at which leeching is allowed also continues to go lower and lower thus allowing players to skip more and more content. When I first participated in Temple of Aminishi, I was level 75 ALL and had obtained tier 70 armours and the Armadyl Battlestaff making it less of a leech and more of a group-dependent build (meaning I couldn't solo the dungeon quite yet, but did okay in a group). That isn't the case anymore. I've seen someone enter the Shadow Reef with a Mystic Air Battlestaff and Spider Silk.

While I've loved helping newbies and low levels get those levels, I feel weird about it. Elite Dungeons feel out of place in the game world. Its high level content with high level rewards easily accessible to low level players.

My suggestion is to create a minimum Dungeoneering and combat level for Elite Dungeons. In order to fight Kril, I need 70 Constitution. In order to fight Gregorovic, I need 80 Prayer.

For Elite Dungeons, I would make the minimum 70 or 75 in each of the combat styles (Attack, Ranged, and Magic). I would also make the Dungeoneering requirement on the higher end, but still attainable. 75 for ED1, 80 for ED2, 85 for ED3. This matches Daemonheim xp rates at 75. Thus, players can choose the rewards of Elite Dungeons at a slower xp rate or the faster xp of Daemonheim.

With that said, we still need to nerf sinkholes to make Daemonheim big again. By bringing players back to Daemonheim through a rework or reduction in the power of sinkholes, the journey from 1-85 for ED3 won't be as bad for new players. Dungeoneering is much more fun in a group.

I've seen this and the points raised in this thread will be discussed at the next combat council meeting. Thank you for the feedback.

It's very odd the direction you guys have been going with content lately. A lot of this high-end, end-game content is being made immediately accessible to anyone without any actual requirements. It's crazy.

Remember when you actually needed to work towards being able to access new content? There's no sense of achievement here anymore. The god questline is mostly freely open to anyone now despite actually requiring high-end quests to understand the story, Anachronia also, ED's...

I understand you want more people playing the content but this is not the way to do it.

Our lead designers have been opting for accessibility over requirements for a couple of years now. We see the need for balance however, and aspirational content is important too.
