As someone who only has 600 hours and has played as a solo for the majority, I can't see how someone doesn't notice the difference the Oil Rigs made. I started out in like January, the game had it's good & bad moments, but I enjoyed the game. Was fun fighting rev guys in the 1st 4 hours. But since the new Oil Rig it's been impossible to have a good wipe. I was hyped for the monuments itself, but they turned out to be camping zones for big clans and zergs.

The meta consists of "first come first serve", which means that given clan will probably have a really good wipe. Cargo was fair as it happened only occasionally and was timed.

But before the Oil Rigs, Rust felt alive, like there was a reason to play, to build next to Trainyard etc. Since then, I've been looting Water Treatment, Launch Site and all the others inland monuments without a single PvP moment. Also, I love it when I hear AK & Bolt shots in the first hour. I've done Large Oil Rig twice with a bigger group, it was a fun 1st experience, but it felt way too OP. The amount of stuff we got was ridiculous. Oil Rigs ruined Rust even more by making them so much more worth looting than the good 'ol favorite Military Tunnels.

Notice OP says "Oil Rigs ruined Rust even more" it really shows how little it takes to push the game into full zerg mode and ruin it for everyone else. As if nerfing oil rig will even fix the underline problem that is the group based progression system.

Even after you nerf it OP will still have many more bad wipes than good. Should really look into changing the system or adding a disadvantage to big groups. You should also try play solo for a few wipes to get a real feel of what it's like, it's really not that fun anymore.

The only players this system benefits are large groups, it promotes them and makes sure they can stomp on everyone with ease and little to no resistance, even on a fresh server. This just makes the experience trash for everyone else and makes us play different games.

People say join a big group but most of us that play solo have been in big groups and hate how easy it is, little to no challenge and you know this. Playing solo or small group should be viable and encouraged but it's currently not. Rust should be skill based rather than numbers based.

I'm not really following - You saying the oilrig is group based? While the oil rig is vastly easier with a group as with everything it can be solo'ed with some patience and practice.

Solo Rust has never been easy, it never will.

One issue the Oil Rigs cause are too many boats lingering in that area. Perhaps they could be sunk by shooting scientists if there are no players around? I've found more than a dozen boats at one oil rig, which means they won't respawn on the map until they've decayed.

We're aware of this issue and will be working on a solution.
