I have posted this idea to the Q&A website. I did not find anything similar. I saw several people commenting on this on YouTube. I thought it was a good idea. So I posted it on the Q&A website as one should do.

Basically the idea is to have a key (e.g. K for Klearance) that turns soft clearance into hard clearance. That way you will not be clipping if you do not want to by accident. There will be many situations where you won't see the red box, but still you don't want clipping. By pressing K, you now have the soft clearance as hard clearance. That would be my default 95% of the time. It means I will not place something by accident and need to repair it later.

And when I do, I press K and now the soft clearance is activated. That way you can have exactly what you want with the press of a single button. It should not be a different build mode, because that would interfere with the zoop function and better not remove that from the game, right?

What do you think? If you think this might be a good idea, please upvote it on the Q&A website. And if not, then don't. (Upvoting this post will not help getting it implemented, not will downvoting prevent it.)

My guess is that the team would probably try and solve the problem of not noticing when you are encroaching soft clearance via better feedback before they would resort to a on/off switch. I think the intention at the moment is to have the build piece's hologram itself to provide some feedback (eg. change to a different color) for when soft clearance overlaps something else. But yeah, we'll just have to wait and see with what they come up with and see whether or not that works for folks.

Great suggestion! Thanks for posting to the QA site!
