340s | platforms now so so we're doing it we're |
342s | streaming I haven't asked for permission |
343s | this time yeah they updated their terms |
345s | of exactly the to so so we're live and |

352s | uh setbacks let's just put it at that |
355s | the uh back end for YouTube is uh |

361s | I was Live on YouTube on my end but |
363s | whatever anyways we're live and we're |
365s | here and uh very exciting um I've been |
368s | dreading this day for weeks now but |
372s | we're here now um and uh we have uh 2 |
377s | hours and 40 minutes until release of |
381s | update 8 on the Early Access Branch um |
384s | it's a bit uh let me just put this put |
387s | this out there it's it's like it's a bit |
389s | strange doing these like release streams |
391s | because like the update is technically |
393s | out right like the we've we've been on |

400s | uh update a came out in experimental in |
404s | June I think eternally yeah like forever |
408s | it's been way too long it's been we've |
410s | been on on experimental for so long I we |
415s | did not anticipate to be on experimental |
416s | for this long I'm going to tell you that |
418s | much we were anticipating to be on |
419s | experimental for a long time but not |
422s | this long so uh it's been years in the |
424s | making and it's a bit like anticlimactic |

428s | um like from our side a lot of things |
431s | have changed in the game like a lot of |
432s | system have been reworked uh a lot of |
435s | stuff has happened we're going to go |
436s | into that later during the stream um as |
439s | to like what we've done and work the |
441s | works that's gone in but there's been so |
444s | many things happening in the background |
447s | uh and and like it's it's on behind the |
450s | scenes in terms of like how the game is |
452s | made it's it's like all our system has |
455s | changed and it's it's almost like a new |
457s | game um and for you guys all you guys |
459s | see is like the game's broken it's go |

467s | been on experimental for so long is is |
469s | we needed to sort of reach a point where |
472s | we caught back up on like where we are |
474s | and we're in a really good place right |

482s | to make some cool stuff uh with the new |
487s | engine upgrade and uh with some of the |
490s | systems that we reworked there's also a |
492s | couple of cool new things in update I |
493s | guess uh this is a couple of like we |
496s | always say that these updates are small |
499s | and they always end up to be quite large |
502s | uh in fact this is actually a first for |
504s | us when we made the patch notes for our |
507s | steam post uh we ran into to the |
510s | character limit which we've never done |
512s | before like our patch notes are hitting |
516s | the character limit for the steam post |
519s | so like I guess that's a sign that like |
523s | yeah it's been a long time since we we |
526s | we updated the game on EA but there's |
528s | been a lot of stuff |
530s | happening and and very exciting so um |

648s | sort of changed around a little bit |
649s | we're going to move back to the old |
650s | format and Community highlights are |
653s | making a comeback today is the official |
656s | like comeback of community highlights |
658s | really exciting there's been so many new |
661s | builds since I mean the last time we |
663s | managed to do commun highlights was like |
667s | when we launched update a um and there |
671s | were a lot of really cool builds and way |
673s | too many to pick on sorry not pick on it |
675s | sounds like I'm bullying people well I |
677s | should be bullying people who's playing |
679s | this game anyways there's there's a lot |
681s | of cool builds that I'm really excited |
682s | to show off um and it's going to be a |
685s | little bit of a beefier community |
686s | highlights this time around so we're |
688s | going to check that out that's going to |

692s | we're going to check out the patch notes |
693s | there's also a couple of like uh |

740s | update that's about to go live on EA is |

746s | live on experimental so people who have |
749s | play on experimental the last day or so |
751s | you are playing the live version um but |
754s | there's a couple of like things that are |
756s | good to know maybe when it comes to sort |
758s | of the process here so the countdown I |
760s | have here is the countdown until the |
762s | game flips over to Early Access all |
766s | right so that's that's that's important |
767s | to notice uh and there's a couple of |
769s | like this a bit of a PSA I want to just |
772s | say real quick uh and I probably try and |
774s | Echo this throughout the stream just in |
776s | case people uh when people tune in and |
779s | then that is that the um Update 7 that's |
782s | currently live on on Early Access is you |
784s | know it's made an an old engine version |
786s | it has um since the move to update8 |
789s | we've had to increase our minimum |
790s | requirements for the game uh partly |
793s | because of the requirements that comes |
795s | with sort of the new uh render |
797s | techniques that we're using for um |
799s | satisfactory and Unreal Engine 5 |
803s | um some of this stuff is also like |
806s | API um drivers and whatnot |
810s | um have uh you know since the |
812s | introduction of some of these new |
813s | rendering techniques and some of the new |
814s | technologies that we're using some of |
816s | the uh apis don't no longer support it |
818s | on Old Hardware um so if you're one of |
821s | those people that have either tried |
824s | update a on experimental and wasn't able |
826s | to to run it or if you're running it on |
828s | Hardware that is either um not supported |
832s | by our minimum requirements or if like |
835s | Nvidia or AMD no longer support drivers |
838s | for your Hardware uh please note that |
842s | satisfactory is DRM free which means |
846s | that there's no digital what's a digital |
848s | Rights Management System on top of the |
850s | game right to keep track of that [ __ ] um |
853s | so you are you're within your rights to |
857s | you know just take the folder the |
859s | satisfactory is is saved in like |
861s | installed in and just save it locally um |
864s | you're going to be able to run the game |
866s | even after we update on on Steam and on |
868s | Epic |
869s | um it comes with some caveats though I I |
873s | I'm pretty sure uh I think you need to |
875s | play offline um that's one thing so if |
877s | you're playing single player I mean that |
879s | shouldn't affect you too much uh but I |
881s | think there's some setting you need to |
882s | do in order to like boot it uh I think |
883s | there's also like something where you |
884s | can't have steam or something running at |
886s | the same time while you putot it so it's |
888s | like a bit of annoying um but just know |
891s | that you're able to do this |
893s | um so so if you're really going to miss |
896s | Update 7 then just know that you know |
900s | there's a ways to get around it it's |
901s | just the whole you know distribution of |
903s | the game that's where the legal issue |
906s | comes right but you're within your |
907s | rights to to Lo save it locally at least |
910s | uh so you can keep playing Update 7 if |
911s | you so choose um we kind of want to like |
915s | move forward with the development of the |
917s | game and you know the game is in early |
918s | axis so it's always hard this is |
920s | something that I'm probably going to |
921s | talk a bit more later on but it's always |
923s | hard for us when it comes to Early |
925s | Access and developing the game for Early |
927s | Access to sort of hit the the |
930s | like the mark As to like how much do we |
932s | maintain the game for people that are |
934s | playing it right now and how much do we |
936s | like look forward you know for forward |
938s | development and and making the game |
940s | better and you know using the latest |
942s | techniques and whatnot it's it's a |
944s | really hard balance there to figure out |
946s | what to do and it's it's something we |
949s | always struggle with it's really it's |
951s | really tricky to be in early access |
952s | honestly um because you know at the same |
956s | time we are in development we are we are |
957s | openly in development still the game is |
959s | still changing um at the same time we |
962s | don't want to just it there needs to be |
965s | some value for you guys as well when |
966s | you're buying a game in ear access there |
969s | where you feel that like the game is |
971s | maintained and the game does is playable |
974s | and enjoyable and you get something out |
976s | of it like it's supposed to be you know |
978s | a bit of a win-win situation for for |
979s | both developers and players you know and |
982s | it's it's it's a balancing act where |
985s | where I don't know if we're ever going |
987s | to find like the you know the perfect |
989s | solution for every everything um so so |
992s | that's sort of where we are right now |
994s | and that's sort of why we're moving |
995s | forward with this stuff and uh you know |
999s | we wouldn't be doing this unless we |
1001s | thought the game would be we were going |
1003s | to be able to create a better game out |
1005s | of it um so so that's just how it is |
1008s | anyways glad I got that out of the way |

1018s | about to mention jeez usually when we do |
1021s | these release streams usually uh we're |
1023s | at the office in KDA um where coffee s |
1026s | Studios is located and uh it's it's more |
1029s | of a casual stream and everyone joins in |
1032s | um and this time around I just didn't |
1034s | have time to set it up that's that's |
1036s | that's the excuse I have I didn't have |
1038s | time to actually set it up because it's |
1039s | a huge process and |
1042s | uh so here we are so we're making the |
1045s | best out of the situation and uh also |
1048s | one funny thing wa no it's not it's |
1051s | funny but fun fact is that um while we |
1055s | are releasing up today today on the |
1057s | Early Access Branch we are also really |
1059s | hard at work at other things that is |
1060s | going to come in further down the line |
1063s | and everyone's been really really busy |
1065s | um and it turned out that like whatever |
1067s | I ask people like you do want to join |
1068s | the stream or whatever people are way |
1069s | too busy so like I guess I guess we'll |
1072s | just do it this way cozy cozy cozy uh |
1077s | little just you uh you you you and me |
1079s | kind of stream you know what I mean um |
1082s | so yeah I think I I think I got |
1085s | everything out of the way now but uh |
1087s | we've got some fun stuff lined up today |
1089s | we have uh actually I didn't think too |
1091s | much about when I said the stream I was |
1092s | like oh we're going to stream at 2 p.m. |
1094s | whatever and I was like I don't have a |
1096s | schedule so we're we're we're we're uh |
1099s | we're going to have to go with the flow |
1102s | and see how it goes uh I do have a |
1103s | schedule now but uh that's just how it |
1106s | is anyways |
1110s | Let's uh first of all let's kick off the |
1113s | stream by selling |

1120s | segment also real quick uh another thing |
1122s | that I forgot to mention during my like |
1124s | good good info to have is that once |
1127s | update a comes out on Early Access uh |
1129s | mods will |
1131s | break uh modding support is not |
1133s | officially there um all the mods are |
1136s | created by our modding Community uh but |
1138s | we love the modding Community I think |
1140s | we're they're doing a great job they're |
1142s | amazing they have maintained the modding |
1144s | scene for satisfactory for a long time |
1147s | we did not think that when we launched |
1150s | satisfactory in Early Access I think |
1155s | maybe it didn't take long before mods |
1157s | starting started to pop up and we did |
1160s | not anticipate that at all we we always |
1162s | wanted to see mods for our game and in |
1165s | fact we've developed the game with mods |
1167s | in mind um the save system is designed |
1170s | to be in such a way that it makes for |
1172s | easy modding and save editing there are |
1175s | systems in the game that have been |
1176s | designed specifically so like it's easy |
1178s | to like hook into stuff |
1182s | um so so we always had mods in mind when |
1186s | we were making satisfactory we're always |
1187s | surprised at like how quickly they came |
1188s | up and we have a fantastic modding scene |
1191s | uh right now where they're maintaining |
1193s | their old tools uh we might not have |
1195s | like Steam Workshop or the Epic version |
1197s | of Workshop or whatever ever but the |
1200s | community has really picked up you know |
1202s | that and you know the the the tools that |
1205s | they have for for both Distributing mods |
1207s | but also loading the mods and the endine |
1209s | and all that stuff is is fantastic so so |
1212s | people always ask us if we support the |
1214s | modding scene or whatever and it's such |
1215s | a I guess it it depends on what kind of |
1217s | game people are making but I wonder if |
1219s | like the modding scene maybe have gotten |
1220s | a a bit of a like a a |
1224s | weird I don't know view from developers |
1227s | or something but we definitely don't |
1228s | feel that way we love our modding scene |
1230s | um that being said and we are trying to |
1232s | help them as much as we can but that |
1233s | being said currently uh mods are not |
1236s | supported for update 8 uh since we did |
1239s | two engine versions updates uh since |
1242s | update 8 launch on experimental you know |
1244s | modern Community had to First patch up |
1246s | the old the the Unreal Engine 5.1 and |
1250s | then when we draw 5.2 they had to do |
1252s | that again and they're still doing that |
1253s | and that's still work in progress uh and |
1255s | if you want to know know more about sort |
1257s | of the state of things I recommend going |
1258s | going to the modding Discord um and |
1261s | check that out and uh I'm sure they're |
1265s | going to get to a point where mods will |
1266s | work again uh for update8 soon CU they |
1270s | are |
1271s | very they're very hardworking people and |
1274s | they're also incredibly uh I want to say |
1277s | talented but I don't like that word |
1278s | because that word implies that they just |
1280s | they've been working hard on this stuff |
1281s | you know what I mean um and they're |
1283s | really good at this stuff so I'm sure it |
1285s | won't take too long uh and another a |
1288s | good point remember to back up your |
1289s | saves as well but but on the topic of |
1291s | mods by the way uh if you have mods |
1294s | installed and you load up update a uh |
1296s | your game is going to crash and you're |
1298s | probably going to get a popup in the |
1299s | Crasher border that said like there's a |
1301s | line in there at the top that says like |
1302s | is using mods if that says yes you still |
1305s | mods are still being loaded into the |
1307s | game and it's not going to work no |
1310s | matter how hard you try so you need to |
1312s | uninstall mods the best way to uninstall |
1313s | mods is to use the mod manager that you |
1315s | use to download the mods it's easier |
1317s | just flip it to vanilla or whatever uh |
1319s | and not like |
1321s | manually uh uninstalling mods because |
1323s | the loader can still be active in the |
1325s | background uh just deleting files |
1327s | doesn't necessarily mean that the mods |
1329s | are uh out of the game so to speak the |
1331s | modules can still be |
1333s | loaded so so just be aware of that as |
1336s | well all right that's |
1341s | that I'm just going to double check my |
1343s | notes again so I don't jump around back |
1345s | and forth all the time CU that's that's |
1347s | how it is right now |
1349s | uh yeah cool I'm going to re-echo this |

1544s | Kickstarter campaign uh it was fulfilled |
1547s | since August 2022 the second campaign |
1549s | the second round of Kickstarter um is |
1553s | almost done it's at 90% fulfilled um |
1557s | that one I can't remember spefic |
1558s | specifically what were included in these |
1560s | uh campaigns but there's a bunch of |
1562s | stuff on the website such as like um |
1566s | replicas obviously there there's |
1568s | t-shirts there's plushies I have in the |
1570s | background I'll show them in a second uh |
1572s | we also have body pillows for some |
1574s | reason um and and the cup the the little |
1578s | cup I think was the most anticipated |

5285s | wouldn't call it that little it's a |
5286s | pretty big beast cuz like uh it's taken |
5289s | us a long time and and like I |
5291s | think I think a big thing with the level |
5294s | design is the fact that we want to do |
5295s | handcrafted stuff uh because we do see a |
5297s | lot of value in that uh can you talk a |
5300s | little bit about like what the reasoning |
5302s | was behind doing you know like custom |
5304s | level design versus like the procedural |
5308s | stuff I mean some of the initial choices |
5311s | I was not present for like um I think I |
5314s | I joined satisfactory kind of right |
5316s | around when production started so I was |
5319s | not part of |
5320s | pre-production um but we we kind of |
5324s | continued the idea of like handcrafting |
5326s | a world cuz it it |
5328s | feels it generally feels more alive and |
5332s | we I mean if you want to develop a |
5334s | procedural system you need people with |
5336s | certain skills and I don't think we |
5338s | really had that at that time either uh |
5340s | because you kind of have to do that from |
5341s | the beginning you have to make that |
5343s | choice like you're going to go |
5344s | handcrafting or you going to go |
5345s | procedural because a lot of resources |
5347s | even if you go procedural like it saves |
5349s | work in one area but it adds work in |
5351s | another um and I think we just wanted to |
5355s | build |
5356s | something I |
5359s | guess personal more uh in that sense and |
5364s | uh yeah I don't know it feels like we |
5366s | have more control over exactly what |
5368s | happens where and we get to play around |
5371s | with bigger extremes and more exceptions |
5373s | to the rules and all that kind of stuff |
5375s | our our our specialization just doesn't |
5378s | really lie in in procedural development |
5381s | uh and that is something we'd have to |
5383s | study yeah because I guess like when you |
5385s | do procedural Generation stuff you sort |
5387s | of need to design your game around that |
5388s | to make it make sense yeah exactly you |
5390s | need to build a bunch of systems for |
5392s | that it's more it's much more like |
5395s | dependent on tools and technology and we |
5397s | need to have people that can build and |
5400s | maintain those things and also use those |
5402s | things properly and that is its |
5404s | own because I think like one easy um pit |
5409s | that you can end up if if you do decide |
5411s | to do predal stuff is like it's really |
5413s | hard to avoid the the like repeating |
5417s | patterns that you get sometimes with |
5418s | procedural generation and I think mhm |
5421s | especially when it comes to level design |
5422s | I think that's when it's like the most |
5424s | obvious when you see that stuff happen |
5426s | constantly over and over |
5427s | again yeah I don't know I think we've |
5430s | made a a really cool map to play on and |
5433s | I think uh you know from a |
5437s | replayability point like perspective I |
5439s | don't know if the map really changes too |
5441s | much like the the map itself changes |
5443s | that too much other than like no it |
5446s | doesn't at all um especially I feel like |
5449s | with a procedural system you run the |
5452s | risk of going too big um because you can |
5456s | but that doesn't mean necessarily that |
5458s | the spaces you build feel meaningful |
5461s | yeah uh or like like the the stories |
5465s | that you build into the spaces also feel |
5467s | meaningful but I feel with handcrafting |
5469s | you have a much easier time to do things |
5471s | like environmental storytelling where an |
5474s | area truly feels like it was built with |
5477s | a history in mind and a future in |
5480s | mind um so yeah yeah it's really hard to |
5483s | get the uh like the lore or if you will |
5488s | into procedure generation or like where |
5491s | you see it and how you see it and |
5492s | whatever yeah I think you can but it's |
5495s | quite a lot of work so it's like you do |
5497s | need a little bit of like that manual |
5499s | tweaking to make sure that the |
5500s | experience is homogeneous procedurals |
5503s | never fully uh can never fully replace |
5506s | uh people either no but AI |
5510s | can I mean if you really want to try you |
5513s | you can try no I I I have a hard time |
5516s | seeing that like you could |
5518s | create I mean maybe in the future but |
5521s | like maybe currently maybe with more |
5523s | more advancements more development who |
5525s | knows but right now not really yeah I |
5527s | guess there are some tools that you |
5529s | could utilize that could be AI like for |
5531s | instance when you do uh when you're |
5533s | doing like um fulled drawing whatever |
5535s | like having an AI to be able to figure |
5537s | out like what's the best combination of |
5539s | things you know all the monotonous |
5540s | things that you do sort of |
5543s | I mean yeah like uh I think like some |
5546s | people in the chat are saying like |
5547s | hybrid manual procedural and if you can |
5549s | make certain parts of of development |
5552s | procedural that would for example remove |
5554s | some of the more like repetitive tasks |
5556s | or the stuff that don't really require |
5558s | too much creative |
5559s | input um but then still leave kind of |
5563s | the creative control to the person what |
5566s | would you say is is that portion for you |
5568s | in your |
5569s | workflow what's the go |
5572s | like use use like experiment with |
5575s | procedural tools and kind of see like |
5577s | what parts we can can replace with one |
5579s | thing cuz that might give me more room |
5581s | to do extra fancy stuff somewhere else |

5610s | there's an established vision and we've |
5612s | made made our test areas it is the |
5614s | actual populating of the place so like |
5617s | let's say the the the placement of the |
5619s | cliffs and Landscaping is done we know |
5620s | where roads are going to be we know |
5622s | where the resources aren't going to be |
5625s | um and then it's just like the placement |
5627s | of the actual plants in general is quite |
5631s | repetitive and take takes quite a long |
5633s | time um and if we could for example |
5636s | designate specific areas of like okay |
5638s | here's here's where we need plants and |
5640s | we can kind of generate some stuff and |
5642s | then go in and make it like nicer like |
5646s | something like that for example so we |
5648s | don't have to do the populating with the |
5650s | foliage but we can do the editing by |
5652s | hand after for example that would be an |
5655s | idea of like kind of streamlining |
5657s | streamlining this stuff um also things |
5660s | like Rivers or sculpting Landscapes if |
5663s | we could have like spline tools are |
5666s | pretty awesome and you can kind of like |
5669s | remove a bunch of steps by by having |
5671s | like more buil-in |
5674s | uh kind of parts of a of a spine to |
5676s | let's say you know you have a river |
5678s | spline and that's just kind of a spline |
5680s | means that you can you have a line with |
5684s | points and that asset follows that line |
5687s | with points so in case of the river that |
5689s | means you can uh essentially draw a line |
5693s | and that a river will follow this the |
5695s | shape of this line uh rudimentary |
5698s | explained uh and then you can maybe make |
5700s | that sculpt out the landscape around it |
5702s | you can make it populate the edges with |
5705s | specific plants uh you can uh make it |
5709s | like the the material change depending |
5711s | on the angle of the water so like the |
5713s | more rapid Parts would have more foam |
5715s | Etc like there's there's a lot of small |
5718s | additions you can add that remove kind |
5720s | of manual input that would like kind of |
5722s | automate these things so in a way |
5724s | procedural development can also look at |
5726s | tools like that but it's |
5728s | like the the the the lines blurry in |
5732s | that sense of okay when if it truly |
5733s | become procedural versus like is it just |
5737s | a tool that we manually still use yeah |
5740s | yeah because I guess you could |
5742s | theoretically like make a segment of the |
5744s | map and like |
5746s | train the machine to like look at this |
5749s | and like just repeat it but you'd still |
5751s | need to sort of manually create that and |
5753s | like get that we to go and fix a lot of |
5756s | stuff yeah yeah I mean there's there's |
5758s | there's no way they'll like it'll get it |
5761s | right and there's going to be so many |
5762s | exceptions because like there's no way |
5764s | for us to give like one area that |
5766s | teaches it everything it needs to know |

5817s | necessarily because the assets that |
5820s | we're actually touching that are like |
5823s | that are relevant to our work are the |
5825s | only ones getting checked out instead of |
5826s | the entire area around it as well |
5829s | because back when we had our towel |
5830s | system let's say if you were working in |
5832s | Northern Forest like a fourth of that |
5836s | biome is on a tile but that that tile |
5839s | also has a bunch of Titan Forest on it |
5841s | and a bunch of bamboo Fields right so |
5843s | anyone who would work in TI forest or |
5845s | bamboo Fields would also be screwed |
5846s | because they couldn't possess that tile |
5848s | that you were working in so like and now |
5851s | we can kind of load in the parts that we |
5853s | actually need we we can be much more |
5855s | precise with what we what we possess |
5858s | essentially uh locally and |
5861s | then uh even then we get to like work in |
5864s | similar areas as long as we're touching |
5866s | different assets so for example World |
5868s | design and level design can work at the |
5870s | same time |
5872s | uh uh in an area touching different |
5874s | things so like they'll be doing slug |
5877s | placement and we'll be painting the |
5880s | landscape and that's fine like we can do |
5882s | that in the same space which we couldn't |
5883s | before which is really nice but of |
5886s | course it does mean that for example |
5887s | caves were in a um separate kind of |
5891s | level like each cave had its own like |
5894s | suev that you could load but now all of |
5897s | the caves are part of the the bigger |
5899s | hole as well so if someone is working in |
5901s | a cave that's below TI forest and I'm |
5902s | working in th Forest there is a chance |
5904s | that we |
5905s | Clash uh because they're no no longer in |
5908s | separate levels so it's like you know |
5910s | you win some you lose some but I think |
5912s | ultimately it makes things a little |
5914s | easier and we can be much more precise |
5916s | with like what parts we tackle at what |
5918s | time and if there's any overlap and we |
5921s | need like oh we have a scheduling issue |
5923s | like oh level design and like needs to |
5926s | work on fix some gameplay things like |
5927s | really quickly they can just do that and |
5929s | we're not like waiting on each other as |
5931s | much |
5932s | so TimeWise it's more optimized I |
5935s | believe for sure that sounds pretty good |
5937s | one and I I curious to hear if you agree |
5939s | with this well like one thing I kind of |
5940s | miss with the old system is like when |
5941s | you were working on Tiles at least you |
5943s | know when you were checking out tiles |
5945s | that you're like if I'm changing this I |
5947s | know I'm affecting that tile where like |
5949s | whereas when you get the checkout thing |
5950s | and there's like thousands of files it's |
5953s | not clear like what did I actually |
5955s | they're not named helpfully no super uh |
5959s | cuz like for instance I don't know if |
5960s | you guys noticed this but when we launch |
5961s | update 8 there were a couple of trailer |
5963s | Assets in the level and uh that was not |
5968s | intentional and I did have like I have a |
5971s | level like a a suble that had the |
5974s | trailer stuff in it but that still |
5976s | references the assets and it got checked |

5980s | anyways uh so that's a bummer but uh |
5983s | yeah it's it's a bit less visible like |
5986s | cuz foliage essentially is still handled |
5988s | in batches so if you change it like one |
5991s | plant somewhere that does still affect |
5994s | like an entire collection and if someone |
5997s | is over here touching a plant and over |
5999s | here touching a plant it might still be |
6000s | of the same batch but you don't know |
6002s | that until you try to submit that change |
6005s | and it tells you oh no this other person |
6007s | has this thing checked out too bad and |
6009s | you're like ah well okay but how do you |
6012s | resolve that in that |
6013s | case mostly uh you you wait you just |
6017s | kind of contact that person and you're |
6018s | just like oh hey I'm working here but I |
6021s | noed the this this is clashing with this |
6023s | thing like when you're done and then you |
6025s | do have to like wait for one another so |
6027s | you try to save often so that you |
6029s | understand when something is clashing |
6031s | and the moment you touch something new |
6033s | you save it immediately so you can check |
6034s | it out and no one else can touch it |
6036s | right so you just have to be really on |
6037s | top of things if you don't want any like |
6040s | conflicts to happen or people to lose a |
6042s | lot of work so yeah you have to be a bit |
6044s | more personally I think responsible for |
6048s | making sure things work okay yeah |
6050s | because typically how it works uh for |
6052s | those who who don't know is that we have |
6054s | like a version control system and when |
6056s | we're working on files in the engine |
6058s | where we cannot merge them so to speak |
6060s | like when we're working on assets for |
6062s | instance like those are binary files and |
6064s | those like you can't go through each one |
6066s | and zero and be like oh this one changed |
6068s | so I should keep this one like you can't |
6069s | really do that so so you want to like |
6071s | save the version that is the most latest |
6074s | and you want to keep working on that |
6075s | sort of Stack it and then in in on real |
6077s | engine you can actually see when you |
6078s | save you can see like oh someone's |
6080s | already working on this |
6082s | FYI be aware uh one of you is going to |
6086s | have to uh change yeah yeah yeah we have |
6091s | uh you know frequent uh frequent boxing |

6144s | changes yeah um but uh we're going to |
6147s | look at the um let me share my screen as |

6205s | that I'm interested in is the bamboo |
6207s | Fields uh because I remember if we look |
6210s | at the road map mhm I think bamboo |
6214s | fields and jungle spires also Southern |
6216s | Forest these are so like this is sort of |
6218s | the road map going forward like these |
6219s | are the areas you can expect to see a |
6221s | lot of change in uh after after up to |
6225s | date and and one this is a funny story |
6229s | like the bamboo Fields what happened |
6230s | there when you were merging that cuz |
6232s | like it was there was like two bamboo |
6234s | fields for for a bit or something like |
6236s | that yes yes so basically we were |
6240s | working on bamboo fields and then |
6243s | decided to go in in a different |
6245s | direction instead so we wanted to revert |
6248s | the the area but the area had been |
6250s | pretty heavily edited at that point the |
6253s | problem is while we were working on |
6255s | bamboo fields we did the change from |
6257s | elal engine 4 to five meaning that |
6260s | reverting the change would mean |
6262s | reverting to a a a version of that area |
6265s | in the previous engine and that was just |
6267s | that was literally impossible to do so |
6270s | we were kind of stuck like okay so what |
6272s | do we do now with this area because we |
6274s | don't like where it's going we kind of |
6276s | want to start from the same base again |
6278s | like what we had so what do we do here |
6280s | and then Ben our technical artist who is |
6284s | also made of magic in my opinion managed |
6287s | to find a half solution where he he |
6291s | could revert or at least grab the old |
6295s | foliage and import that into the new |
6298s | engine So eventually we ended up with an |
6302s | area where it had the the landscape of |
6304s | the second version and the foliage of |
6307s | the first version meaning that the two |
6309s | were entirely disconnected so a bunch of |
6312s | foliage was floating the in the |
6314s | landscape there were paths but foliage |
6316s | just kind of covered the whole thing cuz |
6318s | the they they the interplay was broken |
6320s | entirely because they were from two |
6322s | different versions of the |
6323s | area um so that's like why that area is |
6328s | still going to undergo changes even |
6330s | though it will have changed for people |
6332s | who are playing update 8 uh because |
6335s | these are not the changes that we |
6336s | intended entirely so it's still going to |
6340s | go through landscape and Fage changes |
6341s | but specifically the landscape changes |
6344s | should should be minor and should not |
6347s | like encroach upon people's factories or |
6350s | any of those kind |
6351s | things the the kind of technical |
6354s | difficulties you don't really think |
6356s | about until you face them I thought it |
6358s | was interesting cuz like when I loaded |
6360s | into the bamboo Fields the first time |
6361s | there was there was like too many bamboo |
6365s | trees and I thought it was pretty |
6368s | cool I was like is this this is cool and |
6371s | I showed you like a picture like this is |
6372s | not what that's supposed to look like no |
6375s | I was like no |
6377s | yeah um okay so that's interesting so so |
6381s | for those of you who don't know by the |
6382s | way uh the the World level design stuff |
6385s | that's going that's like on its own |
6386s | separate track sort of so we never like |
6388s | really we usually merge in the level |
6391s | design into the branches where we |
6393s | actually push so for instance between |
6395s | when was the last World update it was |
6397s | update six maybe I think it was update |
6400s | six yeah I think we skipped seven yeah |
6402s | CU like yeah of the stuff we were doing |
6405s | was in progress like at seven so there |
6408s | was no use for us to merge that into the |
6411s | branch because then everyone would just |
6412s | get incomplete stuff yeah and these are |
6415s | pretty big changes as well uh and we try |
6418s | to like not we we don't want to include |
6420s | it in every single update because they |
6422s | can affect it affects our workow a lot |
6425s | but it also affects your you guys' |
6426s | factories a lot uh if the if the level |
6429s | design constantly updates if we keep |
6431s | changing it every time might as well |
6433s | just you know give you an area all at |
6435s | once so only once you have to you know |
6439s | check and fix your factory if necessary |
6441s | yeah so so what we're looking at right |
6443s | now is like sort of the road map towards |
6446s | uh the upcoming uh changes for the game |
6451s | um how do you feel right now in terms of |
6455s | like where we are right now do you feel |
6457s | like we're one step closer to the edge |
6460s | and we're about to break or is it still |
6462s | like do we feel like we find more work |
6464s | constantly because I feel like there |
6465s | were some areas where we thought we were |
6466s | done but like we went back a little bit |
6469s | it's a little bit of both uh like I see |
6472s | the light at the end of the tunnel but |
6473s | occasionally there's there's still like |
6476s | a rock fall or a collapse or something |
6477s | I'm like oh no uh but generally we're |
6480s | making good progress I think and um I |
6484s | think we've we've we've found out kind |
6486s | of all the all the things that we we |
6487s | need to do and all the things we would |
6490s | like to do and the would like list is |
6493s | definitely bigger uh and we'll see how |
6495s | far we get of course um but uh yeah |
6498s | there's still a bunch of things that we |
6499s | can do but |
6501s | yeah yeah we also try to be reasonable |
6504s | and not you know overdo it because I |
6508s | remember when you guys made spy coasts |
6511s | um you mentioned that like oh now when I |
6513s | go back to like Rocky desert it doesn't |
6516s | feel like we feel like we've grown in |
6519s | terms of how we make the map and now |
6521s | that one feels dated yeah so now I want |
6524s | to go back and like update that so it |
6525s | feels more like do you still feel that |
6527s | way about a lot of areas or um not too |
6530s | much I think we've covered the worst of |
6532s | it um it's especially starting areas I |
6535s | feel are the most important to to uplift |
6539s | to a nice quality level because they are |
6541s | the the areas that people generally |
6543s | spend the most time in the first stuff |
6545s | they'll see so it's important for us to |
6548s | both give a good impression and also |
6550s | make it Pleasant to stay there and and |
6553s | be around there um but um I I think |
6557s | we've like fixed all of the oldest areas |
6560s | now so most of what's left is like |
6562s | smaller changes and the the areas that |
6565s | are left to work on are like haven't |
6568s | been kind of neglected for as long as |
6570s | the others um so yeah I I think we're |
6574s | pretty good and of course this is a very |
6576s | common Pitfall for I think just the |
6578s | creative work in general of like oh I |
6580s | make something new and shiny and I've |
6582s | learned so many things and now I want to |
6584s | go back to all the old stuff I made and |
6585s | fix that too but at some point you just |
6587s | got to say like no I I gotta try to hit |
6590s | some sort of General Quality Bar and |
6593s | then just accept what's there |
6598s | yeah um just to clarify a few things as |
6601s | well I saw people asking about it here |
6603s | like the the green map the green area |
6605s | are like these are mostly finished areas |
6607s | uh there's there's some like foliage |
6610s | tweaks polish maybe here and there I |
6612s | also know that like yeah exactly green |
6614s | doesn't mean we're never going to touch |
6615s | it again it just means that we would |
6617s | like to avoid having to make any more |
6620s | Chang there but if pops up we will so if |
6624s | it's bug fixes of course we'll do that |
6626s | but also things like we are going to |
6628s | like make the water look better so that |
6630s | will affect a lot of areas still but it |
6634s | doesn't mean we're going to do like big |
6636s | foliage overhaul or anything anymore |
6637s | like the area should still largely feel |
6639s | the same it'll just be like like |
6642s | equalizing quality across assets maybe a |
6645s | little bit of like spit and polish here |
6647s | and there and some bug fixes but |
6649s | hopefully we can leave them as is and |
6653s | then you have uh blue which is like and |
6655s | also shouldn't affect your factories if |
6657s | you built anything anywhere like you |
6658s | shouldn't really yeah Green Green is |
6660s | very safe like green is fully safe for |
6663s | for building because we don't want to do |
6664s | any structural changes there anymore |
6666s | yeah unless there's truly something |
6668s | wrong and then okay so let's do category |
6670s | for so the red ones mean that there's |
6672s | going to be pretty significant folage |
6675s | changes landscape may change in this at |
6678s | this point so like if you have factories |
6680s | there you might run into any situation |
6682s | where like some some of the landscape |
6683s | may move or uh there might be like a |
6686s | rock or some weird thing pop up in the |
6688s | middle of your factory and stuff like |
6690s | that and the blue one I guess is some |
6692s | something in between where like there's |
6694s | going to be uh foliage changes most |
6697s | likely but like landscape should be |
6699s | fairly set in stone at that point blue |
6702s | should be ideally only visual changes no |
6704s | structural changes red has a chance for |
6707s | some small structural changes like |
6709s | landscape sculpting but of course as we |
6711s | work we always try to make sure that it |
6714s | it's going to be pretty faithful to what |
6716s | was there before and it's not going to |
6718s | like break anything too badly with your |
6720s | factories so like no nothing like spy |
6723s | Coast where we actually fully like |
6725s | rebuild all the cliffs and everything uh |
6728s | here it's basically like we'll we'll |
6729s | we'll try to keep everything in place |
6731s | unless there's truly an issue like but |
6734s | yeah there is a higher chance of of |
6736s | structural changes being needed there |
6738s | because of specific issues that that |
6740s | area has that we want to address |
6742s | actually some people have pointed out |
6744s | some some fun uh quirky things here as |
6746s | well too so in the areas that we haven't |
6748s | talked about the black areas here uh |
6751s | first of all I actually remember this |
6753s | there's like one or two islands here to |
6755s | the east that are just like straight up |
6758s | gone like they're on this map here but |
6760s | they're not actually in the game anymore |
6763s | that's one thing and the other thing is |
6765s | uh Paradise Island here in the bottom |
6767s | left that's an interesting Island yeah |

8795s | update 8 now there are bugs in update 8 |
8798s | like it's it's not perfect like we had |
8799s | bugs in the game before uh in Update 7 |
8803s | as well I mean it's not it's not going |
8804s | to be perfect this is the thing where we |
8806s | sort of have to find a balance between |
8807s | between when we're still actively |
8808s | working on the game we we can't like |
8810s | stick around and fix every single bug |
8812s | and everything all at once we sort of |
8814s | have to like do this gradually as we go |
8817s | and as it makes sense for us in our |
8819s | schedule so to speak um and you know in |
8822s | update we fixed a couple of bugs that |
8823s | were in update 7even in update eight we |
8825s | also introduced a couple of bugs uh this |
8827s | more so than anything because of the |
8829s | engine upgrade that we did there are a |
8831s | couple of systems that when we switched |
8834s | Unreal Engine from 4 to 5 a lot of |
8836s | system system broke um and a lot of |
8839s | systems had to be remade we haven't had |
8841s | time to fully finish all the systems and |
8844s | you know we've been on experimental for |
8846s | a long time now and we've tried to to |
8848s | fix as much as we can in this time uh |
8851s | but but at some point we do have to be |
8853s | like all right we just have to get it |
8854s | out of the door now so we can keep |
8857s | working on the game and get on with our |
8859s | lives and and keep working on the next |
8861s | few things that we're working on |
8864s | um so we've tried to make it as stable |
8866s | as possible there are some known issues |
8868s | right now uh and the biggest one the |
8870s | biggest known issue that we have |
8871s | currently is that the online subsystem |
8874s | that we have in our game that handles |
8875s | sort of the connectivity aspect of of |
8877s | the game uh sorry it doesn't actually |
8879s | handle the the low-end connectivity |
8881s | aspect of the game but it does handle |
8882s | sort of the top layer of that um I |
8884s | posted a video on YouTube last week if |
8886s | you want to learn learn more about this |
8887s | but but TLD essentially it's it's |
8889s | handling like getting your friends list |
8890s | from Steam uh if you're on Steam if |
8892s | you're on Epic it you're on friends list |
8893s | on Epic if you have tied your accounts |
8896s | uh with steam epic it will also grab |
8898s | grab your epic friends and stuff like |
8899s | that uh when you're sending session ID |
8901s | it's like getting that uh and all that |
8904s | stuff and um that system was introduced |
8907s | late in update 8 and it's still a bit |
8910s | working progress um there are still |
8912s | things that we need to sort of fix up |
8914s | with that and there are features coming |
8915s | as well with that online subsystem that |
8917s | we haven't fully implemented yet uh and |
8919s | the reason why we updated it were a |
8921s | couple reasons it was partly because of |
8922s | some authentication issues uh that we |
8924s | needed to update the back end we haven't |
8926s | updated in a long time we also wanted to |
8927s | set ourselves up for future work so we |
8931s | can add new features with the system in |
8932s | mind because we hadn't updated that |
8934s | system since |
8936s | like I don't know since uh since the |
8939s | steam release I think um so that system |
8944s | was in a dire need of being updated and |
8947s | you know being able to support the new |
8949s | versions of like the low-end stuff the |
8951s | SDK that we're using for online |
8952s | peer-to-peer stuff uh being able to like |
8955s | integrate that and update that on and |
8957s | that's more doable with the new system |
8958s | and you may noticed that the UI is going |
8960s | to change a little bit and all that |
8962s | stuff um and the biggest uh sort of |
8965s | feature that's missing at the moment |
8967s | when EA when update drops on EA is that |
8970s | we have the feature where if you're on |
8972s | Steam you can link your epic account if |
8974s | you want to um but at the moment you in |
8979s | Update 7 you can also unlink your |
8981s | account um but in up to date that |
8983s | feature is not there yet it's going to |
8985s | come soon trademark um the reason why |
8990s | that has changed is because we want to |
8992s | move the whole account linking outside |
8994s | of the game so you don't have to do that |
8996s | in satisfactory so you can do it on like |
8998s | a website or something like that it |
9000s | makes it a lot more seamless for |
9001s | everyone really because you don't yeah |
9003s | for a couple of reasons uh but at the |
9005s | moment that functionality isn't fully |
9007s | there uh there's going to be some |
9009s | workaround for that stuff in between now |
9011s | and then but essentially we're going to |
9013s | keep working on on the online subsystem |
9015s | and and post like push our patches on |
9018s | experimental again uh sometime soon I |
9020s | don't know when we'll start doing that |
9022s | fully but um but yeah that that sort of |
9025s | work will happen um and then once that |
9028s | is stable enough all those features |
9030s | we're going to move it back over to EA |
9032s | and then we'll sort of have the full |
9034s | updated release um with that |
9036s | functionality in mind there's no real |
9038s | gameplay changes here uh there's not |
9040s | going to make multiplayer better or |
9042s | anything like that in that regard that |
9043s | that aspect isn't handled by that system |
9046s | um but when it it comes to like the |
9047s | connectivity connecting to the services |
9049s | you know that sort of stuff that's sort |
9051s | of what that system is there |
9052s | for um so that's that's important to |
9055s | know and it's also important to know |
9056s | that there is a known issue where if you |
9059s | um join if you play multiplayer on steam |
9063s | or epic uh you can end up in a situation |
9066s | where when you're trying to spawn you |
9069s | you are not like logged into the |
9070s | services for a couple reasons it might |
9072s | be because you time out uh or whatever |
9076s | uh um you can end up in situation where |
9079s | you will spawn as a new character just |
9081s | so you guys know that's an old bug |
9082s | that's been in the game since launch uh |
9085s | and it has to do with uh the way we |
9087s | identify players in your save file is to |
9090s | you know when we save we save you with |
9092s | your online ID and then when you load |
9094s | it's like okay here's your online ID |
9096s | which character is that that's that |
9098s | character you want to load into this |
9099s | character um with this hot bar and all |
9102s | that stuff and the reason for that is |
9103s | because we wanted to make it seamless |
9105s | when you're sending your safe file |
9107s | around to your friends so when you if |
9109s | you host and you send the safe file to |
9111s | your friend they can host and you still |
9112s | spawn as the right characters and all |
9114s | that stuff we also want to make it like |
9116s | a seamless sort of experience when it |
9118s | comes to the online aspect of the game |
9121s | so it's easier to set up so you have |
9123s | like the game is built with online in |
9125s | mind and like online connectivity in |
9127s | mind instead of having to like spoot up |
9129s | a single player session and be like Oh |
9131s | but I want to have friends connect oh |
9132s | okay so then I have to connect to the |
9134s | service and then oh but wait that also |
9136s | means that I have to set it up in game |
9137s | and load that stuff like it's way easier |
9139s | to just have it so that the game sort of |
9141s | on the GetGo is like set up for people |
9144s | anyone to join in at any to at any point |
9147s | um and that means that we have sort of |
9148s | have to have this system in |
9150s | mind um so that's just a known issue |
9154s | just so you guys are aware of that and |
9155s | you can still like get your inventory |
9157s | back if you happen to have spawn in as a |
9159s | new character uh just go to where you |
9161s | you saved last time and uh take care of |
9165s | the uh character that's sitting down you |
9167s | know with your uh zapper um violently uh |
9172s | and you can get your inventory back um |
9175s | and we're going to do some like kind of |
9177s | workaround fixes for like when you're |
9178s | saving in vehicles so you can be able to |
9180s | eject people out of the vehicles CU at |
9182s | the moment if someone is in a vehicle |
9184s | and they log out they're stuck in there |
9186s | and you can't dismantle the vehicle all |
9187s | stuff so so we're going to make a fix |
9188s | for that um so so just be aware of that |
9192s | that's still a bit working progress |
9194s | that's coming um |
9197s | and uh what else I think that's the most |
9200s | important thing to |
9202s | mention uh there there's 50 minutes left |
9205s | before we drop it uh really quickly for |
9207s | anyone who just tuned in uh interesting |
9210s | thing if you have a computer if you have |
9212s | Hardware that doesn't that might not be |
9214s | updated enough to run the latest version |
9217s | of onreal engine and run update8 please |
9219s | remember that the game is DRM free so |
9221s | you can always make a local copy of the |
9223s | game as it is right now just save the |
9225s | directory before you update um and you |
9228s | can just boot it up from there granted |
9230s | this has to you have to like Boot It Up |
9231s | offline um you might need to turn off |
9233s | steam or epic or whatever when you boot |
9235s | it up because otherwise it's going to be |
9236s | like Oh you mean to play this version |
9237s | and it will load up the executable from |
9239s | the old one um there are some Guides |
9241s | Online that like how to set this up |
9243s | properly uh back up your saves is also |
9245s | important don't for don't forget to back |
9247s | up your saves uh but yeah like in |
9249s | regards to to that like if you if you're |
9251s | on Hardware that can't work that doesn't |
9255s | work for up toate remember that the game |
9256s | is Dr free you can save a local |
9259s | copy um just don't distribute it that's |
9262s | where the that's where the sort of the |
9265s | big no no happens you know what I mean |
9267s | uh but you know local use it's totally |
9268s | fine that's why we made the game DRM |
9270s | free uh for you to not have to handle |
9273s | like not have to deal with that stuff so |

9287s | so mods don't work on update8 at the |
9289s | moment we don't develop the mods the |
9291s | mods are completely handled by the |
9293s | modding community so it's sort of like |

9299s | the the tools that they have for the |
9301s | modding uh scene so they can update the |
9304s | mods so that you can support mods in |
9306s | update a |

9311s | like the modding Community we love what |
9313s | they're doing I think it's awesome that |
9314s | we have moding support for satisfactory |
9316s | we don't have official modding support |
9318s | but you know there there's it's possible |
9320s | to to get mods for satisfactory at least |
9322s | and I think that's really dope and uh |
9325s | we're we've been trying to help them out |
9326s | as much as we can but we can't like |
9328s | pause the update just so mods can sort |
9330s | of get the stuff out we really need to |
9332s | to keep our schedule so to speak um so |
9335s | modding support is not in yet but I'm |
9337s | sure that they'll get to like they've |
9338s | been working really hard on on getting |
9340s | that in and if you want to get the |
9342s | latest information when it comes to mods |
9344s | uh make sure to join the modding Discord |
9347s | um you can find it over on our Discord |
9349s | or uh just search for satisfactory mods |
9352s | or go to fix it.app uh you can get a |
9354s | link there and so so that those people |
9358s | in there will have the latest |
9360s | information and when it comes to mods |
9362s | and satisfactory if you have mods |
9363s | installed the best way to uninstall mods |
9365s | is to use the mod manager that the |
9367s | modding Community have set |
9369s | up |
9372s | um the um and and like yeah uninstall |
9376s | mods using the mod manage is the best |
9378s | way to go because if you start ripping |
9380s | out files on your hard drive and |
9382s | whatever uh that might may not always |
9384s | uninstall everything and if you get a |
9386s | crash when you boot up update 8 and you |
9387s | get like the crash reporter and it says |
9389s | like the line there's like a line at the |
9390s | top that says like is using mods yes |
9393s | that means that the mod manager the mod |
9394s | loader is still trying to load mods uh |
9397s | and it's failing because mods aren't |
9398s | updated it might be failing because like |
9400s | you you don't have it set up for mods |
9402s | and it's still trying to load mods um so |
9405s | just disable mods you can boot into |
9406s | vanilla using the mod manager you don't |
9408s | have to uninstall the mod manager at all |
9410s | you can just flake a |
9412s | switch and uh that'll be it and the |
9415s | final thing I want to talk about before |
9417s | before it's too late is uh or before the |
9420s | release I guess is that uh dedicated |
9423s | servers is its own sort of thing |
9425s | dedicated servers are supported by us |
9427s | but they're not they're still |
9428s | experimental and like there are like |
9431s | even though we're moving up toate to the |
9433s | Early Access Branch dedicated servers |
9435s | are not |
9436s | leaving experimental in terms of like |
9438s | how the dedicated service works so |
9440s | there's still you know bugs with |
9443s | specific to Dedicated servers |
9445s | um that does not um that are tied |
9448s | specifically to Dedicated servers and |
9451s | those the the work that goes into |
9453s | dedicated servers that's sort of its own |
9455s | separate track um that's not going into |
9457s | the updates necessarily and like if we |
9460s | do make updates to Dedicated servers |
9461s | we'll sort of push those out um by |
9465s | themselves uh and I also kind of want to |
9466s | mention real quick that we have actually |
9468s | recently done a lot of work that goes |
9470s | into dat deated server support uh but |
9473s | you guys probably won't see that for a |
9474s | bit but uh we are working on dedicated |
9476s | servers and we do want to have like |
9478s | proper fixes for all the issues that you |
9480s | guys are running into on dedicated |
9483s | servers and |
9485s | uh yeah that's that's pretty much the |
9488s | gist of things good things to know about |
9491s | um we're 9 minutes away from releasing |
9496s | update on EA very |
9498s | exciting also want to mention we to sell |

9717s | focused on right now fixing uh in the |
9720s | team uh really busy with making sure |
9723s | that we can get all that stuff ready for |
9724s | fixmas which is very soon fixmas is in |
9729s | like two and a half weeks almost three |
9731s | three weeks is two and a halfish uh 1 of |
9735s | December is when |
9736s | off we really hope we can fix everything |
9738s | for fixmas until then that's sort of the |
9741s | goal um # saave fixas is is the is the |
9744s | plan right |

10134s | been on the experimental Branch for way |
10136s | too long so the factor built in Unreal |
10138s | Engine and at the beginning of the year |
10140s | we decided to update the engine version |
10142s | from Unreal Engine 4 to 5 because we saw |
10145s | a lot of potential to improve the |
10146s | foundation the game is built in it's |
10148s | been a rocky Journey as a lot of things |
10151s | broke during the migration that we've |
10153s | had to patch up again |
10155s | with the upgrade to Unreal Engine 5 |
10157s | we're able to take advantage of some of |
10159s | the new highly talked about features |
10161s | such as nanite and Lumin nanite is a |
10164s | virtualized geometry system to render |
10167s | High detail objects which we're using |
10169s | for Cliffs and |
10171s | rocks we're also sort of unofficially |
10174s | supporting Lumen which is the new Global |
10176s | illumination and reflection system I say |
10178s | unofficial support as we have in tune |
10180s | the lighting for the game with lumen in |
10182s | mind and we're unsure if we ever will be |
10184s | able to do so so Lumin is a cool feature |
10187s | for you to enable and try out if you so |
10189s | choose but be aware that it might be |
10191s | quite taxing on your system and there |
10193s | might be some issues here and there |
10196s | we're also taking advantage of a couple |
10198s | of other features that are new in a real |
10199s | Engine 5 such as the new input system |
10203s | the new world partitioning system that |
10205s | should improve level streaming and the |
10207s | new physics engine called chaos since |
10210s | the old physics engine has been |
10211s | deprecated we've had to completely |
10214s | rework our vehicles to use chaos there |
10217s | should be little to no changes when it |
10219s | comes to vehicle automation but the |
10222s | manual driving of vehicles has been |
10224s | redone and we've made improvements in |
10227s | feel and usage of the different Vehicles |
10229s | most notably driving on foundations now |
10232s | no longer causes vehicles to bounce |
10234s | around we've also added support for |
10236s | multiple upscaling techniques such as |
10238s | dlss xcss FSR and |
10242s | TSR all right so with all that nerdy |

10375s | adjustments you can nudge around the |
10377s | Hologram to where you want to place the |
10379s | buildable another neat little |
10381s | Improvement to the build mechanics is |
10382s | that now you have a starting pole when |
10384s | placing conveyor belts and pipes so you |
10386s | can get to building faster when placing |
10388s | conveyor belts previously there were |
10389s | also a couple of situations where the |
10391s | initial starting position was invalid in |
10393s | regards to pole Heights we've now moved |
10395s | the validity check of the final |
10397s | placement to the poles |
10413s | instead huh so in Update 7 we introduced |
10416s | blueprints we're quite happy with the |
10418s | overall design of the blueprint system |
10420s | and the blueprint designer but we felt |
10421s | we needed to make a few improvements |
10424s | first of all the dismantling blueprints |
10425s | is quite tedious as you have to |
10427s | dismantle pieces of the blueprints |
10429s | individually it sucks to place down a |
10431s | blueprint with tons of Bill pieces only |
10432s | to realize it's not rotated correctly or |
10434s | not properly aligned so we've added a |
10436s | blueprint dismantle mode that you can |
10438s | toggle on or off with this you can |
10440s | dismantle an entire blueprint all at |
10441s | once significantly reducing the effort |
10443s | to get rid of blueprints that are |
10445s | misplaced or no longer useful not only |
10448s | that but when you have this mode enabled |
10450s | and you highlight a blueprint you can |
10451s | sample it similar to how you sample any |
10453s | building part speaking of dismantle mode |
10456s | we've improved the dismantle filter to |
10457s | be more clear when in dismantle mode you |
10460s | can select and highlight certain types |
10462s | of buildables to be added to a filter so |
10464s | you will only be able to select |
10465s | buildables listed in the filter for |
10466s | dismantling making it much easier to |
10469s | dismantle specific parts of your factory |
10471s | you can switch freely while dismantling |
10473s | and it works both in Blueprint mode and |
10475s | in regular |

10514s | change we've made zip lines have |
10516s | improved as well we increased the |
10518s | acceleration of zip lines in Sprint mode |
10521s | and the zip line now automatically |
10522s | connects to the next power line while |
10524s | zip lining on power towers and ceiling |
10526s | connections and can be controlled when |
10528s | the power cable |
10537s | splits we also finally added support for |
10539s | multiple fuel types for the jetpack and |
10542s | each fuel type has different properties |
10544s | solid bof fuel is the most basic fuel |
10546s | type that can be used before package |
10548s | fuel has been automated it runs out |
10550s | fairly quickly but works just as well |
10552s | package fuel is the regular fuel type |
10554s | we've used before and it works just the |
10556s | same but it's been given a tiny buff in |
10558s | upward momentum turbo fuel has faster |
10561s | acceleration and speed allowing the |
10562s | player to reach much higher altitude and |
10564s | it's also got slightly increased air |
10566s | control and finally you can now use |
10569s | Liquid biofuel the best fuel type in the |
10572s | game if you ask me it works most the |
10574s | same as regular package fuel however it |
10578s | burns much slower making it possible to |
10580s | stay in the air way |
10587s | longer I'm here in the Titan forest and |
10590s | this biome has gotten a significant |
10592s | overhaul of its foliage visuals and |
10594s | sound effects we left the notes alone |
10597s | but there are a few minor terrain |
10598s | changes but it shouldn't affect your |
10600s | existing factories too |
10603s | much |
10605s | we also improved the vistas around the |
10607s | world to make it look more like you're |
10609s | on like one part of the planet instead |
10610s | of just being on an island in the middle |
10612s | of |
10622s | nowhere the red jungle has also changed |
10625s | quite a bit and we put some more work |
10627s | into finishing some of the caves around |
10628s | the map in terms of lighting we've done |
10631s | full passes over all the starting areas |
10633s | as well as the Titan forest red jungle |
10635s | and spy Coast to elevate their look and |

10781s | completely remove arachnoid creatures |

10784s | these new settings in order to access |
10787s | the advanced game settings you need to |
10788s | enable this for your safe file as this |
10790s | isn't the original intended experience |
10792s | for the game many of these settings |
10794s | change restrictions that are part of |
10796s | sort of what makes satisfactory what it |
10797s | is but the option is there for people to |
10799s | find other ways to enjoy the |

11202s | you pop into the safe file but uh just |
11204s | restart the game and you'll should |
11205s | probably connect again and it should be |
11207s | fine the the initial boot of |
11208s | satisfactory by the way when you install |
11210s | it might take a bit |
11212s | longer than uh it might take a bit |
11215s | longer because it's doing a lot of stuff |
11216s | in the back end where it's like loading |
11218s | in modules that uh we're going to fix |
11221s | that Pro maybe we'll be able to fix that |
11223s | but uh it's doing a bunch of stuff in |
11224s | back end which also compiling shaders |

11228s | that the first initial boot might take a |

11288s | do if you saved in like a vehicle uh or |

11293s | to use a SA editor unfortunately we |
