s | hi today I'd like to talk to you about |
---|---|
s | The Narrative of satisfactory and what |
s | you can expect in 1.0 when it come to |
s | this aspect of the game a long long time |
s | ago when we started working on this game |
s | and we had just gotten like the basics |
s | of the game in place one of our earliest |
s | play tests we did uh one piece of |
s | feedback we got from players was that |
s | players sort of felt like they were |
s | missing a purpose as to like why you're |
s | building all these factors in the game |
s | after that play test it sort of made |
s | sense for us to try and use like a |
s | narrative to tie everything together and |
s | sort of set the stage as to why you're |
s | on this planet and why you're creating |
s | all these factories being Early Access |
s | we didn't want to have the narrative |
s | half finished in the game so we decided |
s | to completely omit it for the duration |
s | of Early Access which is why you haven't |
s | seen any of it apart from you know any |
s | World building we've done you know in |
s | the game and and our socials and website |
s | and whatnot over time the narrative for |
s | the game has gone over many different |
s | iterations of various Scopes uh at one |
s | point The Narrative grew into something |
s | overwhelmingly big and we weren't sure |
s | we were going to be able to deliver on |
s | our vision and Hannah who is our lead |
s | writer also had responsibility for like |
s | World assign and stuff like that so she |
s | already had a lot on her plates so we |
s | decided that we wanted to aim for like a |
s | good story that we felt was manageable |
s | to implement for us we've talked about |
s | this many times on streams and videos in |
s | the past but our goal for the narrative |
s | uh of satisfactory is that we don't want |
s | it to take sort of center stage and like |
s | we don't want it to be disruptive we |
s | want the narrative to fit the current |
s | game and we don't want it to change what |
s | people are already familiar with |
s | satisfactory is first and foremost a |
s | factory building game and if you don't |
s | care about the story you can you know |
s | pretty much ignore it uh it will sort of |
s | play out in front of you but you don't |
s | have to pay attention to it we don't |
s | want to remove any agency from the |
s | player either so there won't be any like |
s | cutcenes or anything like that that will |
s | interrupt you from playing the game as |
s | usual so don't expect like a big story |
s | campaign or anything like that uh there |
s | will will be an ending to the game that |
s | you're working towards but it won't |
s | distract you from like the existing core |
s | Loop of the game but one of the main |
s | reasons why I'm making this video is |
s | because the story in 1.0 has changed |
s | since its initial conception so we need |
s | to sort of Recon most of everything |
s | we've told you up until now uh when it |
s | comes to the story for the most part |
s | it's still you know the same world and |
s | all that stuff you're still a Pioneer |
s | working for Fixit but you should |
s | probably like forget everything you |
s | thought you knew about Fixit or you know |
s | any of the characters that we've |
s | revealed working for fix it you know cuz |
s | characters such as like Karina parks and |
s | Steve they're all redcon at this point |
s | okay you'll still interact with a your |
s | personal instance of the artificial |
s | directory and assistant uh we're going |
s | to keep a because |
s | uh uh because we want to we decided to |
s | keep Ada and we're also not going to |
s | replace the Vocaloid that we've been |
s | using to voice Ada because you know |
s | you're already so accustomed to that and |
s | we also think it's pretty cool that |
s | people can create their own voice lines |
s | for you know content or extend mods with |
s | it or you know even streamers have like |
s | a chat bot read out messages live we |
s | always thought that was pretty cool and |
s | fun so you'll still be interacting with |
s | Ada uh and in fact every single existing |
s | dialogue with adaa in the game has been |
s | completely Rewritten in 1.0 if you're |
s | planning to play satisfactory |
s | multiplayer uh it might also be good to |
s | know that any narrative that is |
s | triggered by unlocking Milestones or |
s | faces or research uh will be shared |
s | globally in the session but a lot of |
s | other narrative delivery will be |
s | triggered individually on a proximity |
s | basis so if you're not close to someone |
s | when they're triggering something |
s | related to narrative uh you won't |
s | experience that until you trigger it |
s | yourself all dialogue in the game will |
s | also be logged into the Codex so you'll |
s | be able to revisit it again uh once |
s | you've triggered it I also want to |
s | clarify one thing about Summers sloops |
s | and Mercer spheres uh we've said in the |
s | past that those items are story items |
s | and they're tied directly to the story |
s | this is not true anymore uh they're not |
s | story items but they will have some form |
s | of impact on the narrative uh but their |
s | primary use case is en TI to it so with |
s | all that said I'd like to take a moment |
s | in this video to sort of set the stage |
s | for the gamees |
s | narrative in satisfactory you take the |
s | role of a Pioneer for fix it |
s | Incorporated designated to the planet |
s | massage 2 a BB in the aacha system and |
s | to fulfill your obligations you must |
s | exploit this planet for its resources by |
s | building factories setting up Power |
s | Systems organizing Logistics utilizing |
s | vehicles and asserting dominance over |
s | the local fauna using whatever tools you |
s | may |
s | engineer to advance fix its Mission all |
s | notable phenomena resources technology |
s | or other influence should be |
s | investigated regardless of their |
s | perceived danger as stated in the |
s | Pioneer contract it is your duty to |
s | ensure they come to good use on this |
s | Mission you are accompanied by Ada your |
s | personal instance of the artificial |
s | directory and |
s | assistant potential edible collected |
s | reminder that look and smell alone do |
s | not provide sufficient data to determine |
s | exact risk of consumption Ada will guide |
s | you throughout your mission measuring |
s | your performance and providing you with |
s | helpful advice as you explore the planet |
s | and progress in your |
s | exploits your first official objective |
s | is to initiate project assembly by |
s | building the space elevator project |
s | assembly is divided into faces Each of |
s | which requires the delivery of project |
s | Parts via the space elevator subsequent |
s | faces unlock access to new tiers with |
s | more Advanced Technologies to construct |
s | automate explore and exploit but it's |
s | time to be honest this project is part |
s | of the Save the Day program the largest |
s | United undertaking in human history |
s | destined to save us all Earth is in |
s | peril and only fix it Pioneers offer |
