I know this is quite controversial. However, I think its time we got rid of old gen. Sea of thieves cannot get map extensions, the optimization it needs to get better, more ships per server, and a host of other issues that would make the game better.

Rare has dealings to keep up with old gen per daddy Microsoft. However my idea is basically take all the old gen players put them in their own servers and bring new gen into pc servers. With a player base that is not expanding very rapidly, I think this is the best way to draw attention to the game. Old gen will still be able to play, but their game would stay at current level since that's all it can bearly handle. While the rest of us get map extensions, optimization, "new and exciting" content.

I know old gen will be upset and say it's not fair. But it's also not fair the rest of us have to suffer poorly optimized garbage. Many of the original promises Rare made are simply not possibly with old gen.

Keep in mind this is simply an opinion. But if you like the idea be sure to upvote and maybe, just maybe Rare will see it and agree. Maybe we can even get 6 or 7 ships per server and actually be able to find people again.

I'm unsure where this misconception started, but I'd love to help provide some clarity here and squash it.

Things like new world regions and additional ships on a server are not limited by the range of clients we support joining a server. We have the means to manage how different performing clients stream in assets and can support a wide range of different performing hardware on PC and Consoles.

Looking at performance issues like rubberbanding or ping spikes; these are not related to the type of clients connected to the server. The recent issues being experienced are due to a combination of player-driven actions that generate performance spikes on the server, which then affect everyone connected to the server irrelevant of client type.

In short, the scenarios provided here are not examples of how different performing client hardware is in anyway holding us back from delivering experiences to our players.

Any chance we can get this information posted on a official SoT channel/SoT Twitter etc? I see the argument being used time and time again and I think it may be helpful having it said a little louder for the folk at the back.
