I really hope they add a new voodoo deity to Smite, so I've been thinking about this ult and see what are your guys' thoughts on it.

Possession (most likely a mage/guardian ult, could work with warriors)

  • blank will root him/her self into the ground and will release his/her soul into the map. This soul is controlled by the player (leaving the body behind) and will move at increased speed. The player has 5 seconds to find and target an enemy god. If an enemy god is found, blank will possess them after a 1 second channel time, taking control of the enemy god. The player may use abilities and walk freely as long as the time persists. The possessed player can be damaged by both parties, but if the player were to die while under the effects of Possession, then blank will receive credit for the kill of said player. Players can attack their own teammates and blank will receive credit for any kills made under the effects of Possession. The ability can be cancelled early and cannot be interrupted or beads once the initial channel time has been completed.

Ability duration: 5/5.5/6/6.5/7 seconds Ability cool down: 200/185/160/145/130 seconds

Enemy players will be notified if the spirit is approaching them (like a Jorm Submerge, or like the Spirit in DbD) and can beads the ability during the one second channel time.

blank can be killed if the body is attacked (so hide the body before trying to ult so players can't find you)

We coded, implemented, and playtested this on Baron.

We decided it was objectively unfun. Its the most powerful effect in the game by far. Extremely frustrating and unfun to play against.

We cut it. No plans to try it again. But hey, ya never know.
