first let me ask to not mention any moderation actions in this thread as it is not what I want it to be about and don't want it locked because of rule 8.

now I thought this reddit was supposed to be a place for the players to talk, bring up ideas, and share highlights and memes. the Dev.s exercising their control over what we the player choose to discus is a very good way for them to hide from us the truth of the company.

while I do agree you don't get to talk about your own ban or some sort of moderation you received. having the discussion should not be prohibited. especially when it is mostly concentrated in a few threads as opposed to widespread.

to make my point there is a thread with 142 upvotes that discusses a ban that is locked now. basically we cannot talk about it or share any information about it. even though it is news for the community and the community wants to talk about it.

I am against rule 8 as it stands right now. I find it oppressive and against the concept of open discussion.

what do you people think of rule 8 of this reddit?

To be clear, he doesn't act as a moderator, he just has been part of this subreddit since it was hatched. Moderator actions are roughly 90% regular community mods and 10% the studio's community team.

If you want to go from the 15x15 standard…we almost certainly could have all fit in a room that size when this sub started. 😅

Hi all, just want to chime in here since there are a lot of opinions flying around.

Rule #8 is in place to protect people involved in those situations, full stop. That's both the players/community members who may have been modded, any other members of the community who are involved, and the moderators who took the action. There is often sensitive information tied up in these interactions and to intermingle that with potential hearsay and under-informed finger-pointing is to invite inflammatory, harmful, and other problematic issues across all parties involved.
