My day in Spellbreakin':
"Meetings: 1:1 x2, ch2 wider team proposal, combat sprint planning and office hours, founders. Not meetings: Slow progress between meetings on ch1 patch notes, revisit discord bot functionality and see just how much code has to change there"
@itsOSK @PlaySpellbreak Honestly you wouldn't see many updates on a weekly roadmap summary/post. As an example, how many weeks have you seen me talking about ch2 quests in these dailies?
That said, a new (large) roadmap post is probably due soon anyway.
@itsOSK @PlaySpellbreak Need a rapid fire list of line items with various statuses, e.g. 'Gamemode: working on it', 'pyro: aware of it', 'random thing: nothing planned atm'
I'm happy to provide as much info as I can with minimal amount of effort (which is why I can keep doing the dailies here)
@Capn_Happy @itsOSK @PlaySpellbreak Clearly this is all a ploy to boost my follower count!
Joking aside, the bulk of people never visit reddit either. Reaching the larger playerbase involves stuff like using the in-game news screens or otherwise pushing to a central spot.
@kylebrussell It's crazy divisive. If you even so much as mention crypto stuff in "traditional" gamedev slacks/discords, it's a total firestorm of rage. All of the conversations are now happening in side rooms in hushed tones. It's... weird.
@Tocelot A lot of the old-timey MMO folks learned these lessons and have been dormant for the past 15+ years or moved on because the space atrophied. Even without the F2P mindset, we had to worry about keeping our subscribers, like you mention.
@Tocelot I was talking to a PhD candidate in econ a few weeks back and he was trying to do the reverse and be able to test real world economic theories in games with higher stakes with robust economies (e.g. EVE). It's super interesting and exciting!
