I play with mouse and keyboard but I have a controller hooked up to my PC for games like Dark Souls, RPGs, and Rocket League. I was playing Rocket League earlier and switched to Splitagete and noticed that my aim was snapping against my movements and I thought for a moment my mouse was faulty. So I don't know if this is normal for mouse+keyboard, but it's broken to have software do the tracking and flicking for you.
I did some troubleshooting and realized that aim assist was pulling my crosshair to targets and tracking them without my hand on the mouse. Aim assist is one of the reasons why I dropped Halo on PC and actually thought Splitgate was a better game. Aim assist takes away from the mechanical skill required to really dominate a match.
For example I have like 12 hours in the game (all but like 3 are from the initial launch and I hadn't played it since) and I have been topping scoreboard almost constantly with almost 4 KD. Now that I know it was because of aim assist largely it feels really unfair, undeserved, and unrewarding. I love the game in so many ways (it deserves to be more popular imho) but this really kills my excitement. Aim assist just does not belong in an aim intensive multiplayer shooter.
If devs have any questions about my setup let me know if you want it. Apparently there isn't even an option to turn aim assist off when I scoured the menus.
