I wish custom mode allowed for just me on my own on any map I choose. It's hard as a new player to learn the maps well if you're fighting for your life.
Ideally it would be an option in training mode so that I can practice with different guns.
I know I can do some of the maps in race, but I don't want to have all the HUD clutter for race while I'm practicing. Or have it affect my stats.
Am I alone in this? Or am I missing an option to do this?

You’re actually able to practice on all of the maps in customs! Head over to the main menu > play > customs (on the top middle of the screen)
Races are also a very good way to practice every map while also providing a bit of a challenge for you and your friends!

Custom has bots though. I want an empty map. You also can't do races on takedown maps. And as I stated in my post, I don't want crazy long times on my runs while I'm learning the map.
There is actually a setting to remove bots and therefore have an empty map to practice around in.
