Note the game was *completely* revamped less than a month ago. The netcode was entirely replaced. If you read reports here, it works extremely well.

Note that the game has actually received even further performance boosts.

I am a little puzzled that you would take a lot of information from very old reviews, when there are multiple detailed update posts with detailed changelogs and information about the changes.
