s our first phases of stormgate pre-alpha
s and Alpha Clos testing have ended and as
s we gear up for the next round of testing
s starting in early October we thought it
s would be fun to recap how testing has
s been going and to share some of our
s favorite
s moments we started with testing our
s first faction the human Vanguard in one
s versus one competitive only our Co-op
s versus AI mode is coming later this year
s these are not marketing betas but actual
s play tests of some of our earliest work
s our primary goal in this early phase was
s to generally stress test the reliability
s of the game's architecture we were
s looking for bugs crashes and testing out
s matchmaking and to our surprise the game
s has been performing really well
s definitely exceeding our expectations at
s this stage even though testing has been
s much less about balance right away our
s players began Theory crafting Sergeant
s fluffles tested the most efficient
s command post placement and charted Bob
s worker count efficiencies another chart
s details who wins this
s fight what do you think two scouts or
s one
s laner how about a hedgehog versus an
s EXO
s a Vulcan versus five
s exos watching this incredible energy and
s enthusiasm among players was really
s exciting for us on top of this a ton of
s strategies began emerging the very first
s build order shared way back in pre-alpha
s was as we should have known for a
s spiritual successor to Starcraft the
s century gun Rush fear Dragon posted this
s build within hours of the start of
s testing that didn't take long this
s strategy utilizes vanguard's unique
s Faction ability to build structures with
s multiple workers and yes the community
s mapped out the efficiency of this too
s here's how it worked to start ethereum
s Refinery was built right away and four
s Bobs were immediately pulled to the
s enemy base these workers could quickly
s build turrets within range of Mining and
s enemy buildings if not scouted before
s before they arrive at your base this was
s very difficult to stop but what was
s amazing to see is that even in a limited
s test we saw counters emerged to defend
s this overpowered rush if scouted the
s defender could immediately make a
s etherum Refinery and turret of their own
s quicker as it was right in their base
s and use another unique Vanguard ability
s to gain Defender Advantage Bobs could
s use their overcharge ability to increase
s their damage and armor in order to win
s this game of Rockham sakam robots
s while it didn't take long for this piece
s of cheese to emerge it also didn't take
s our team long to make some big balance
s changes that we'd roll out in our next
s phase there were many great openers
s being developed we were just frankly
s Blown Away with what these skilled
s players were able to do with our early
s build of the game basically all of the
s prevalent build orders revolved around
s capturing creep camps right at the start
s of the game when a player successfully
s defeats one of these camps a variety of
s things are rewarded some players decide
s Ed to play it safe and fight uncontested
s resource camps on their side of the map
s for an economic Head Start others
s however rushed to defeat a Speed camp
s which allowed their Scouts to catch up
s to the enemy and prevent their escape
s each player must calculate the risk of
s taking unit damage and getting
s surrounded by the Enemy versus the
s reward of gaining valuable powerups
s creeping was designed to incentivize
s players to be active on the map creating
s key areas of contention and so far this
s tug-of-war battle from map control seems
s to be working well the game's
s engineering performed so well that
s players were able to host a couple of
s impromptu pre-alpha and closed Alpha
s tournaments the pre-alpha tournament was
s team- based and cats scarlet and awesome
s sauce held a watch party for the private
s Discord group super inefficient here
s going to lose a bunch of units in the
s process turrets are insane as far as
s damage output is concerned um obviously
s with a big disadvantage that they cannot
s move and not to mention all the Lost
s mining
s once you have so many Sky Riders your
s Exo literally do
s nothing in the end Team B won the
s tournament with Scarlet clutching the
s final Victory and becoming our pre-alpha
s champion we are super grateful just to
s all of the time and attention that the
s testers and players have put into it so
s far uh and I think very humbled as a
s team uh to see what you've already done
s with something that is such an early
s state of gameplay in the next phase
s closed alpha 1 players hosted their own
s end of alpha tournament on rally cry and
s we assisted their efforts players signed
s up to an Open Bracket and it came down
s to a round of eight beo molf and atako
s even hosted their own shoutcast to the
s matches here are some highlights see
s here he's on three bases he doesn't
s really have the production now the Sky
s Rider bubble gets popped so lucifron
s just has to get on top he has got to get
s in right now otherwise he will lose that
s third but the Sky Rider bubble has
s minimized I think enough of the damage
s here even as lucifron gets on top of it
s so yeah eventually lucifron tyes on top
s but the bubble Shields the rest and it
s is just so much damage that lucifron is
s taking right now in the end it came down
s to finals between paring and kiwian well
s we're going to have the Vulcans Dash
s forward there and I just we just don't
s have the upgrade from from kiwian so now
s parting gets on top here he sens his
s blood but he's in the range of the
s Vulcans and there are more of them watch
s the exos fall that was not the the play
s there parting Kian decided to go up the
s ramp he's going to get the turret kill
s first and now the sky riders can just
s bottle his own units and it seems like
s the exos from kiwan are making short
s work of his opponents all of those Bobs
s might be overcharged but they take
s damage all the same and the base is very
s low Health right now with the turret
s going down that Bas going down in the
s natural it didn't even get a lot of
s mining I could see parting gig out of
s here because that Evac didn't have
s enough damage to sustain him into a
s victory and and it is going to be Kian
s winning 20 on the finals of the N of
s alpha tournament here today with all
s that we think that testing so far has
s been incredibly successful and so much
s fun we're getting tons of valuable
s feedback that's leading to a lot of
s improvements we're going to continue
s welcoming more players to each new
s testing phase and here's a bit of fun
s trivia we've been internally Cod naming
s each testing build based on past
s real-time strategy units
s apocalypse was what we called our first
s closed pre-alpha play test then came
s baneling the closed Alpha test we just
s held in August 2023 luckily the game
s didn't blow up and now for our next
s testing phase chronosphere this is
s another closed Alpha test and the good
s news is we have tripled the amount of
s players invited to test the game and
s after much anticipation we're adding our
s next playable faction the
s infernals
s this early feedback really helps us as a
s team figure out what's working and focus
s our attention on areas in most need of
s improvement we can't wait to get this
s game into everyone's hands if you'd like
s to be considered for this and future

That's not "super early"

We’re in alpha, which definitely feels super early to me!

It was a small comment posted here from an official FG account months ago...I can't find it though.

Anyway we've seen them be repaired before so we know they're robots for sure.

Can verify that the above is true!

Does this mean chronosphere alpha invites will be sent out soon?

Chromosphere is the testing phase going on now. Our next phase, which will welcome many new testers, is codenamed Devastator. Invites will go out before the end of the year. I’m sorry that I can’t get more specific than that at this time.

I've signed up for the newsletter/alpha like 15 times but still don't get the newsletters.

This is really strange. Please DM me so we can troubleshoot to see what might be happening.

Still salty haven’t gotten to play yet

Most people haven’t gotten to play yet—less than 1-in-20 signups have received alpha invites.

Is Devastator referencing the Dune series unit, or is there another RTS unit you guys were thinking of?

Yes, I’m pretty sure it’s a reference to the Dune unit.
