Haha, I can give a more details response here if you're really that curious in case you aren't meming from the chat (sadly I never got to see if they responded to my comment on why).

What makes age of empires a great team game is how you have to work together. Mixing unit compositions, building forward bases together and requires teamwork to win (unless you are just better than the other team).

Some examples off the top of my head. I can go Archers, while my ally can go cavalry. A great combination, especially if we micro well together (if pikemen are going for his cav, I focus the pike, and he'll defend my archers or take out counters to my archers like skirmishers).

Another great thing is you can send resources. Let's say my ally needs x amount of wood for a town center, I can send him it. There's some cheeky strategies where one player funnels all his resources to his partner, who utilizes that extra income to advance faster to other ages and have stronger unit production/unit upgrades. This can't be done until you get a market (which isn't until age 2, so you can't cheese a way to a really quick age 2).

One of the most fun things I love about team aoe is building forward bases. As you attack, you'll expand around the map and make production buildings closer to your opponents base. Getting down a castle (strong building) down next to an opponents base can restrict resources and give me a great staging point to fall back to if I need to.

Reinforcements will arrive faster for me and my ally if we're both making barracks/archers/stables closer to the enemy.

You can repair ally buildings. I had a game today where my defensive castle at my friends base was going to go down and my villagers weren't near, he repaired it while my army took out the trebuchets, which allowed him to stay safe and we ended up pushing our opponents out and then pushing our way to victory.

I would highly recommend watching some age of empires 2 team games and you can see how well it blends. I have yet to play another RTS that I like playing team games on. Usually I only play 1v1 in games like starcraft for example, team games are boring to me in that.

hi blade55555. we meet again.
