Hey, Reddit. This has been a tough couple of days. We don't have an official statement from our CEO out there because he was evacuated due to the recent fires affecting Southern California. A few notes:

  • We have close to 50 employees working on Stormgate these days. There was no call for the team to review the game from our leadership.
  • A few team members messed up and left reviews, and yes, that includes our CEO. He's human, is passionate about our game, and yes, he should have known better. We should have had a firm policy and education on this, which we're instituting.
  • We are making it 100% clear that any communications related to our game coming from our staff needs to include a clear disclaimer of their connection to the game.
  • Once Tim is back online, we'll make sure a disclaimer is added to his review or have him remove it. I don't know when that will be, unfortunately. He's dealing with other priorities at the moment.
  • I believe any employees who deleted their reviews or hid their profiles as a result did so in a very human response to feeling like they might do the company harm. They feel terrible about it and the last thing they wanted was to cause the team damage. They meant well, and we're making an effort to educate all current and future staff to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Any critiques regarding how we should hold ourselves to a higher standard for employee communications are fair and warranted, and we are doing exactly that moving forward.

I appreciate everyone who has expressed support for us. Thank you.

I attempted to provide some feedback in the discord that maybe a FG rep should hold the company to a higher standard than blizzard, and that calling it a goof isn't very helpful (I thought a fair and constructive thing to say) and I had fun getting dogpiled by Spartak and his goons for 10 minutes. It's weird in there now.

I actually agree with this take, I didn’t see your comment on Discord or I’d have mentioned to the mods that you weren’t out of line. I believe we should hold ourselves to a higher standard. We are.

Dude, if Gerald's position is that it's the big bosses who should apologize, then why the hell is Gerald even getting into the chat room, bringing up a terrible and stupid situation, and throwing out dire warnings about "respect"? 6-)

Being respectful is important and dropping into the Discord just to mock our people is not OK.

Respect comes both ways. If you value respect as you write of it. The dog pillers should be banned at least. But they are treated like heroes. Defenders of the indefensible. If you dogpille every gamer that brings the fake review, they will mock you back. The problem? Was the fake reviews, not the users that brought them. The problem? Was the dogpillers, not the ones that moke them. You can't uphold "respect" like a golden sword for your friends, but then let them dogpille on those that call on your mistakes. It's silly, it's lame, its alienating. If you ask for respect then ask your own community. Because they are chill being disrespectful, all in front of your mods and in front of you. Respect geralt. Goes both ways

Our supporters are just as responsible for being respectful as our critics. It should always go both ways.

This specific instance aside, it would be appreciated if you had a chance to talk to the mods about this sort of stuff anyway. It does feel like the moderation there can be a little heavy-handed lately.

Especially because sometimes, people have no choice but to repeat certain critiques if they want to discuss it, due to Discord’s nature of fast-moving chats

I’ll talk to them.
