I’ve always found TFT to be a monotonous game, and I never had the urge to play it. When the game launched in Set 1, I played less than 10 games and gave up because I didn’t enjoy it. But some of my friends liked it and kept playing. Later on, in Set 5, one of them invited me to play Double Up mode, so I decided to give the game another shot. I probably played around 100 games, but I still hadn’t caught the “TFT idea.” I kept forcing the same composition every time, and when it worked, we won, but when it didn’t, we either lost or my friend carried me. Basically, I still had no idea how to properly play TFT and didn’t understand anything about economy, items, synergies, etc.
Then, a while ago, I started playing chess and poker, and combined with watching Arcane, it sparked a desire to give TFT another chance. That’s when I truly fell in love with the game. I started playing at the end of November 2024, had to take a 2-week break in December, and came back strong in January, determined to learn the game better. After 500 games (I know, it's a lot!), I finally hit Master.
After reaching Master, I shared the news with my friend, and his only comment was something along the lines of:
“500 games? That’s crazy, you’re insane. Anyone can reach Master by spamming games, what really matters is how many games it takes to get there.”
To be honest, that comment kind of brought me down a bit. I know that excellent players can reach Master — and even beyond — with fewer games, but considering this is my first set, isn’t that still something to be proud of? At that moment, I almost started believing I was a mediocre player. But after reading some posts here, I realize that maybe it’s not so simple. My dedication and effort did lead to something. I’ve learned a lot and I’m still learning, so I plan to continue evolving and mastering the concepts and variations of each set.
In any case, I’ve had some personal challenges recently, and I’ll be having more time to dedicate to this game, so I’ve decided to start streaming on Twitch and eventually on YouTube. I’d be really grateful if you could help me out by following my channel: twitch.tv/ElSponda. It would mean a lot to me!
