I've never played this game so I was looking at the physical version on GameStop's website, was debating asking for it for my birthday which is very soon after the physical game releases. I noticed under Product Description, it said this:

"Included in the physical edition is a voucher with a code for Temtem Plus (valued at $19.99).

Temtem Plus opens up convenient new functionality in Temtem, giving you more flexibility on your quest to become the ultimate Tamer! With Temtem Plus, you'll unlock the following expanded features:

  • Chat: Unrestricted access to global chat, facilitating finding the best trading deals and the perfect partner for your co-op adventure.
  • Trading: Unlimited use of the in-game trading feature and access to the trade house, which allows checking global auction listings.
  • Storage: Increase your Temdeck storage, allowing you to keep up to 600 different Temtem."

And on the PSN version, I saw nothing about Chat or Trading mentioned. Is there some level of restriction with chatting or trading in the PS5 version without this voucher in the physical copy? Are there microtransactions around unrestricting them if you buy it digitally?

When you purchase Temtem digitally, the account that purchased it automatically get Temtem Plus.

With the physical edition, you get a code for getting Temtem Plus on the account you plan to play.

This is only to prevent issues with multi-accounts (family sharing, etc) or just to add a kind of "DRM" to physical editions because if not you could potentially create infinite accounts with one disc generating us a lot of server and storage expenses and a huge issue with the in-game economy.
