Last week’s SOTG got me a bit triggered, but as an adult and despite the shocking statements made by the guest of that show, I decided to let it pass and that this was a mishap, he was nervous or had to much coffee before going on air.

That being said this week I felt a possible trend appearing, right after announcing that the stream was going to be short and really nothing new was being said or presented to us, Hamish, whom I have nothing against, stated that nobody wanted to talk about the game and that they were focusing on something else. This to me sounded a bit like last week’s guest comment “ You’re questions suck?!”, actually not as bad as that guy in all fairness to Hamish. :)

  • we have been discussing this game actively since the beginning of this last PTS (3 weeks of discussing) , in SOTG, the Forums, Reddit, Youtube etc. I am tired of discussing the same issues over and over again.

  • I cannot speak for anybody watching the last SOTG but all I wanted in this stream was some updates fair enough, perhaps a release date, but honestly I just wanted to see something new and fun. The reveal of the Face Masks would've been enough.

Instead we got:

Hello, we are back, short stream today...things are exactly like we talked last week, no major changes or things to talk about…no date (speculate what you want)…here are some new percentages for the caches…cronus max (mmmm) under investigation but don’t know if we can do anything about it.…. LAG we are investigating but don’t know if we can do anything about it. Yeah I guess the Ninja Backpak will be in the loot pool again in the new patch (we assume it is?) that being said, we are out see you guys next week!

I’m not a rant type of guy, I’ve been playing this game since launch and I keep playing it, I participated in tons of surveys including the one to improve SOTG (which honestly hasn’t seen much improvement) and actively participated in the console PTS, reporting bugs, sharing opinions and this week participating in the LAG report on this Reddit page. Nothing that I stated above makes me special or better then any other player of this game, but I was hoping for something better for the return of Hamish and the finally reunited SOTG Crew.

I’m sure you guys can only work with what you are given but don't blame your viewers for the lack of discussion if you are not providing anything to discuss.

Try to improve the SOTG format, create community activities. Look at what Horizon Zero Dawn made, a photo competition using their in game photo mode. The prize was also amazing a high quality print of that same photo sign by someone on their development team.

Fan art competitions, this by it self can include a lot of things:

  • concept art
  • videos
  • weapon skins
  • shield skins
  • Cosplay
  • Apparel graphics competition (You can use this to create cool merchandise, print t-shirts, hoodies, crewnecks etc)
  • Survival “Looks of the Week”, we all enjoy vanity items and although we selected what we want to use in the game, Survival most of the time forces us to use/combine items that would never choose other wise, resulting in some weird looking agents.

I’m sure there are other players with even better ideas to share," take advantage" of the players that still love this game and want it to be better and to participate in it. If it doesn’t work as expected…well at least you tried and we will acknowledge that.

I don’t know... I’m not a community manager, but try different things, motivate your community in a positive way and reward them for it, small things go a long way. Use SOTG as a news sharing platform (this is very important) but it can also be so much more.

Yeah, unfortunately we've got a few guys basically making a weekly live TV show who don't know how to do it. They've done well and it's gotten better over time but obviously could still be better.

Gronkalicious, I totally agree... SOTG should continue, but it must be reworked and improved. It's a great tool that needs some care.

Agreed. We're working on an improved formula for the SOTG
