Marco just put up a new video about the next Global Event and why it SHOULDN’T be delayed in order to fix the leaderboards.

To summarize the video; Massive should run the next Global Event WITHOUT the leaderboards.

Putting the whole leaderboard debacle aside, the last Global Event was a breath of fresh air for most of us. It gave us a new way to farm and invigorated community activity. Let’s not ruin this momentum simply to fix the leaderboards.

Run the next Global Event WITHOUT the leaderboards. We don’t need them.

To be completely honest, farming for masks would be better if they were tied to the Global Event Commendations and NOT the leaderboards.

Hi there,

Just to give you guys a bit more info on what’s going on behind this whole “delaying global events” thing.

The reason why we’ve made this decision is precisely because the first Global Event was such a success, that it really pained us to see it end in such a wave of frustration due to the Masks part. This was a mistake on our side, and we want to make sure to correct it so that when the next Global Event hits, and the ones after that, they will be fun from beginning to end. For that reason, we don’t want to run another Global Event without having first addressed the Masks rewards.

Our goal is to make these changes as fast as possible so it doesn’t have too much of an impact on the initial Global Event schedule. We’re not talking about delaying it until 1.8. The changes are already in the works as we speak and we should be able to give you a clearer timeline pretty soon.

Now regarding the proposition to run Global Events without Leaderboards instead, this is an option we have considered as well, but removing the leaderboards feature of the Global Events would require just as much time (if not more) as keeping the leaderboards and changing the masks to another source. So even if that’s the road we wanted to take, it would still mean the same potential delay, if not longer.

Hope this helps.
